that would double the number of votes available to each voter daily

user315433
Very few would use them all.

very few use them all now
given that limit only exists because someone decided it'd be good fun to abuse the previous system by voting just as often as they possibly could, probably worth figuring out how to scale those votes in a way that better represents investment in the site

if you give someone less of something, they usually respect its meaning more

user315433
Yes, that too. Start with 10+10 votes, give 2+2 more for each 1000 rep earned, topping at 40+40 around 15000 rep.

user315433
Maybe even start with 5+5, like delete and undelete votes.

7:39 PM
um no
let's not over complicate the priv system with more normal-vote related workings

I admit, I rather like the way delete votes work. Or rather, I don't like that they're so extremely limited, but I like the way they scale. Fits with the "earn your mod privs" philosophy.

user315433
I have 6 on WebApps now, soon to become 7. Small quantity doesn't bother me as much as the lack of consequence. I vote and crickets

Right.
Realistically, you need at least a couple of comrades when using delete votes
They're useless otherwise

why is there no "delete vote" queue?

user315433
10K tools have something like that. Pretty useless when the posts listed there are there because you voted on them.

7:49 PM
@KutuluMike sure, that's a thing: chat.stackexchange.com

user315433
But the traditional style review queue would not work for deletion. One has to consider more than one post when deciding.

Yeah... Was talking about this with @bluefeet last week; we need a different UI for reviews that are more than simple questions.
Also, most of the 10K tools need some love.

I wonder what the percentage of 10k+ to under 10k is

user315433
What's "under 10k"? Most of those accounts are dead.

huh? users with less than 10k rep

user315433
7:59 PM
In low rep range, "users" become very different from "accounts". It's unclear how to count the former.

@Quill you can get a reasonable estimate of this using SEDE. But yeah... Define what you actually want to know first.

yeah, I don't have a problem with definitions...

Then you can have the number, whatever it means.

@Quill you might have to remove accounts to should have been deleted from that result: meta.stackoverflow.com/a/296970/578411 unless the backlog of to be deleted accounts is cleared now

unless I do that thing, where I don't really care about the accuracy of my results
and it's just for personal amusement

I think either way, Shog9's answer is correct

There's no point in trying to increase "accuracy" here unless you have a specific goal in mind

user315433
One could also use SEDE to find the number of delete votes available to 10K users. Looks like a good SQL exercise. And the result is probably an order of magnitude larger than the actual number of delete votes cast.

A: What posts get deleted, and why?

404Here are pie charts for comparison of SF and SO stats (the two sites for which these are available). I made these for SO first, so the categories are in the order of size on SO. The percentages are not exactly the same as in the table, because I omitted some of the obscure reasons for deletion. ...

user315433
^ How about the same stats for other big sites....

user315433
The pie-chart making machine is hungry.

user315433
But it's safe to guess that deletion by votes of 10K is relatively rare. I'd even guess that SO, where this percentage is small, still has higher percentage than other sites.

@ShadowWizard you can sign into your Google account in chrome so you sync bookmarks, history, cookies, etc between computers
I approved because signing out of Chrome could help...

@404 does it smell like coffee and have imprinted on it?

@404 Something fishy. What use is a stool with a standing desk?

user315433
I think he means that the desk is standing, as opposed to flying.

Q: Shaken, not stirred; let's expand the site!

bluefeetThe state of Beer SE has been on my mind for quite a while now, and after another user suggested that the site expand our scope, we've decided it's time to shake things up. In its current state, Beer is averaging 0.4 questions per day. While we have two active moderators who are keeping the si...
