do you have something against Klingon? 😲
@yellowantphil only 3 of those
Yes.
Tengwar.
@bjb568 you’re probably getting three other random characters
@tchrist you like Tengwar? Are you disappointed that it still isn’t in Unicode?
@pizza Lots of scripts, bots, exams, etc.
04:15
@yellowantphil Tacos and Vulcan salutes appear to be held in higher regard than actual letters. Idiots.
they made a Tengwar proposal a long time ago. Don’t know what happened to it
@bjb568 z
@yellowantphil It is reserved. They will get to it.
I have a regex lib for it.
@tchrist oh right. starting at U+11608... I think
@yellowantphil I thought "private use" meant I could safely assume I wouldn't be getting those in any text I got from outside
04:18
@JanDvorak I guess I broke your assumptions

@tchrist Yes.
@bjb568 Why do you keep posting the front page of reddit here?

Because.

Note: uBlock's cosmetic filters don't seem to be live. Migrating to a network block rule.
wait, no, that won't work.
ah, got it. Cosmetic filters were turned off for me.
Can you throw me a photo, @bjb? I want to test if it works live.

@yellowantphil don't worry. I can always flash the filter off. I did it once. I don't want to do it ever again.

Whatever works.
The cosmetic filter works by adding a single CSS to the document = unbelievably fast
@AstroCB That should be <i> not <em>.
> This is the "old way". <i> has no semantic meaning and only conveys the presentational effect of making the text italic. As far as I can see, this is clearly wrong because this is non-semantic.
@AstroCB I think your script doesn't prevent the GIF from loading?
05:15
@JanDvorak Probably not, no.
> The HTML <i> Element represents a range of text that is set off from the normal text for some reason, for example, technical terms, foreign language phrases, or fictional character thoughts. It is typically displayed in italic type.
Cosmetic filters do
It might, depending on how your browser handles it.
@AstroCB You're thinking decade-old HTML 4

@AstroCB Are you using it to convey semantic meaning in this case? I could see an argument for it being merely stylistic in this case.

DisgruntledGoatYou should use different methods for different use cases: If you want to emphasise a phrase, use <em>. I don't really like it either. Especially for the longer questions, which end up taking tons of vertical space.

@Unihedro probably not ... A51 codebase is forked from SE1.0 and the SE2.0 features never made into that fork. Asking for it will make Anna sad...
@rene But... it got tiny userplates

@rene actually it's not correct. Area 51 Discussion Zone is SE 2.0 site with the new codebase and is updated with the rest of the sites. It even got the new profile page, until someone spotted and it was manually removed.
Oh...but I recall codechanges were hard to do because of it's special status.
