@bjb568 Luke 6:42

I totally did not expect to see this on the online newspaper's portal today ^^

@Fundamental wut?

> How can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,' when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.

huh?
What are we talking about?

Dunno, ask @Fun

In this context, "back" implies religion is archaic.
(not that I'm complaining)

Can we stop talking about that guy already?

Idle thought... given that Software Recommendations is almost a year old, and hasn't self-destructed or destroyed the rest of SE... why could not the same questions be asked on SO with , following the same principles that SoftwareRecs uses?

Not all Software Rec. questions are programming related.

@Fundamental I think they should be separated so SO can be strict with not POB and TB qs.

2:24 AM
(Another question, that wouldn't necessarily be welcome on SO but is on software recs: softwarerecs.stackexchange.com/q/40/7815)

user259867
Good point.

@Fundamental just b.c SO doesn't allow it doesn't mean people don't ask them there.. Most of them are bad quality, and just having the same rules as softwarerecs, doesn't mean anyone is going to read it before asking... Pretty much in the same situation as we're in now if it was allowed, just an even bigger uphill battle to climb in trying to get good quality tool/recs on SO

@bluet agree, if it's just a "read the meta q for tips on posting reqs", even fewer people would read it than if it's "read the tour".

Q: Can a machine be taught to flag comments automatically?

AndyTL;DR: Yes it can. Background On June 27, 2014 Skynet awoke. It looked at Stack Overflow and thought "Why are all these people being so chatty and talking about obsolete things? I should nuke them all!" Fortunately, Skynet was a baby and only had access to my 100 comment flags a day. Prior ...

You should have it highlight comments when you're browsing (via CSS) and have corrective action human-buttons. And have it learn from when you flag too.

@bjb568 I just read all the comments anyway and flag them, so... :P
And it's written in Python, not very conducive to being userscripted

And, that, children, is why everything should be written in JS.
Should DevDoodle review queues use a dark or light theme?
I'm thinking using the dark clean theme would be more fitting.

hi

(The last season of Psych just went on Netflix, so I had to watch some...)

user259867
There is a sensible tag integral. But integrate is ?

user259867
Probably should be a synonym of integral, but some questions are about integrating some software with something else.

4:12 AM
integrate should be burninated. It's a meaningless verb, no one can be an expert for the tag.

> This tag should be used for questions related to coding solutions for integrals.
circular reference anyone?

Not a very helpful tag wiki :/

sometimes I think that people wants to create tags just for the sake of having them

for badges

user259867
4:16 AM
Thing is, most integrate questions do have a single topic: implementing numerical evaluation of integrals, which is what is about. So simply killing the tag would lose that information.

@Fundamental "implementing numerical evaluation of integrals" in which language?

user259867
Maybe simply remove the tag from the minority of questions that are about integrating bits of software?

user259867
@Braiam language-agnostic tag, supplemented by languages.

@Fundamental implementation is intrinsically ligated to the language in question, and IMO SO is more practical than conceptual

burnination includes retagging

user259867
4:20 AM
@Braiam My point was, if one asks about coding Gaussian integration method in C++, one can tag

@Fundamental ewww... for that theres title and body of the question

user259867
(back on topic)

user259867
@Braiam Just downvote :/

4:23 AM
that's why sometimes always is better to tag with 1 correct tag rather than 5 incorrect ones

user259867
Some of those do need a language tag. sympy and scipy are Python libraries, for example.

less is more!

Q: I want to delete the [internet]

The questions tagged with internet are almost about everything, from git to networki...

@rene in your list ^?

Hi everyone I just wanna ask real quick if this is on-topic or not. gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/201126/…

@ArceusMaster0493 that's probably a question better suited to a Gaming chatroom or for the Arquade child meta.
(not the linked question, but the question of "is this on-topic?")

4:33 AM
@anorton Thanks XD I see

Just because there may or may not be Gaming users in here--you'd probably get better help on a Gaming specific site. :)

One more question (too lazy to ask at MSE) why do we have "private beta" and "public beta"? Any benefits? (Or should I ask this as a formal question on MSE?)

user259867
@ArceusMaster0493 It looks like an edge case, that is not clearly codified in their on-topic rules. I agree with anorton.

@Fundamental Thanks I'll go to an Arqade chatroom then

user259867
@ArceusMaster0493 Private betas are (kind of) closed to general public to make sure only the serious folks participate.

user259867
4:35 AM
For example, voting requires no rep at that stage.

user259867
And you want to make sure that as result of this voting, some sensible reputation league emerges.

@Fundamental OK... do the site-founder gets to choose who participates and who doesn't?

user259867
There is no "site founder". The person who created the proposal has no special rights.

Oh.
Thanks :D

To be in private beta, you just sign up before the beta period opens. Area51 is where all that sort of stuff goes down.

user259867
4:37 AM
No problem. 1/2 questions answered. :)

user259867
@anorton There is a workaround that allows everyone to join a private beta. But one has to know it...

@Fundamental I seem to remember it, barely... It came up when I was involved in the Arduino private beta that failed.
Scratch that... I remember it exists, but I don't remember how to do it. :P

user259867
If you go to Area 51 and click "visit the site" from there, the private beta will let you in.

Hm. Good to know.

user259867
There are no private betas to test this on right now, but Engineering should be created very soon.

4:41 AM
Yeah... I was wavering on whether or not I should sign up for that. I'm not really an engineer, but I do know some stuff.
