00:52
I have received 6 downvotes in a minute. Flagged for mods to check for possible serial downvoting.
@InfiniteRecursion don't flag for that. They should auto-reverse tonight or tomorrow night. If still haven't reversed after a couple days, then you can flag.
New guy is still here. I like the image they used for hidden avatars, looks like a matryoshka doll
01:05
ha!
/me can't beat that
@InfiniteRecursion doesn't like @Bart because she was just out flying around one day and ran right into @bart
Not my fault, @Bart is transparent.

@hichris123 libcaca is not offensive
@lostsock @Bart is creepy
Hope @Bart doesn't shatter with anger after getting so many pings in his inbox.
@JanDvorak ? ^
I just voted to close, but it looks like spam at first glance
01:21
Lets cv it as precaution till Jan confirms. That link is common in spam.
flagging as spam...
@lostsock ot
wait, I've already flagged as VLQ
I cast a cv and flagged as spam
01:26
Spam gone :)
@JanDvorak he's not talking about VB.net
@Braiam he's not talking about any language
@JanDvorak exactly
spam was mod-smitten
@Braiam do you know a better dup?
@JanDvorak there isn't
is OT
01:28
@Braiam is it? What reason?
@JanDvorak is not programing related
it sure is
"how do you make such conversions"
he isn't asking how to write code to do X or solve a problem with code that do X, he's asking how mathematically convert a binary number to decimal
you don't need any programing skill to solve that problem
In mathematics and digital electronics, a binary number is a number expressed in the binary numeral system, or base-2 numeral system, which represents numeric values using two different symbols: typically 0 (zero) and 1 (one). More specifically, the usual base-2 system is a positional notation with a radix of 2. Because of its straightforward implementation in digital electronic circuitry using logic gates, the binary system is used internally by almost all modern computers and computer-based devices such as mobile phones. Each digit is referred to as a bit. == History == The modern binary number...
In base 10, the value is 21: 2^4 + 2^2 2^0 .....2^4 = 16, 2^2= 4, 2^0 = 1, so 16+4+1=21 — Infinite Recursion 2 mins ago
Now he/she should stop complaining
I know how to count in binary... just very inefficiently
01:34
Yay! comment thread stopped on that post.
@Jan, the gluten spammer has become smarter. @Sam, can you please add 'gluten-free-dairy-products' as a bad keyword?
@InfiniteRecursion it's not in the title
what do you notice in the pic above?
Yes, you are right Jan. @Sam, please ignore my request.
I notice @lostsock wasted 3 upvotes on comments in a doomed post, yet did not upvote my very useful comment!
@lostsock more CS than math, but meh
@gnome this too soundcloud.com/jacoo
@Braiam but he wants to do it on paper...
01:43
@InfiniteRecursion yep, the most useful comment to the question got no upvotes
@lostsock because nobody wants to fall into the @InfiniteRecursion
@lostsock do you consider spoonfeeding the most useful comment there?
@InfiniteRecursion woops, i actually upvoted it, but then removed it so i could post the image, but now it won't let me upvote it since i already did :(
@JanDvorak do CS students don't use paper?
After a long time, an OP thanked me without calling me a "bro" or "sir".
01:45
chick?
Bro and sir are annoying.
Jan, I removed my spoonfeeding comment.
can someone downvote this? askubuntu.com/q/342503/169736 it redirects to a deleted question
Nice comment about the java tag.
I spoonfeeded because I tend to be kinder to OPs who are unable to understand how the dupe is related to their question. In such cases, I use a comment to explain the solution.
@Braiam: No one downvoted

@Braiam Downvoting would not clean it up, since there's an answer. Delete votes are required, until/unless the proposed expanded auto-deletion criteria get implemented.

The diseased eyeball still freaks me out, even though it has been in the tavern since long time.
@InfiniteRecursion And you can't ignore it. He is really a decent fellow.
I don't ignore users unless they're total junk.
Yes, but that image is a sore in the eye.
I had to put new batteries in the keyboard just now, thus the delay.
If I ignore him, will it hide his image from my view?
@InfiniteRecursion we have to come up with a petition to give nil.
@InfiniteRecursion Never tried it, but I don't think so.
@InfiniteRecursion Actually, it will downsize it to about 1/4 of it's current size.
I just ignored zigi, and that's what happened.
My first ignore!
Oh, and you can un-ignore whenever you want.
I ignored nil. Congrats, you ignored a person who shot to fame due to being ignored and muted.
@InfiniteRecursion Shot to fame?
not famous by me.
infamous, maybe
Well known on SE
@InfiniteRecursion ah.
04:58
Yes, closer to infamous.
I will ignore him if he starts talking about girls in the tavern again, that gets on my nerves.
@InfiniteRecursion Didn't know he was.
@animuson really
I see.
I wasn't there.
05:07
Yes, he was looking for pretty girl in chat, which is as low as it can get, finally Jan bammed him.

Hey, I'd like someone here to weigh in on whether I've done something stupid or not. I was reviewing this suggested edit, because the original post had capitalisation issues which were obvious and left unfixed. As you know, it's suggested to place some reasoning in the edit summary, which I did. A few minutes later, someone posts this comment:
@Qantas - you performed the edit; you should have fixed the grammar. Please don't troll Windows questions like they are HTML/CSS/Javascript questions. — jww 17 mins ago
I thought the way the post was worded was understandable enough, so I left it as it was. Was I wrong in performing this edit? What grammar changes would you have done to the post?
06:33
cc. @JanDvorak
@Qantas94Heavy: The user who commented on your edit isn't exactly a very polite person. He pinged me as well in the past on multiple posts and kept trolling and writing rude comments. Just ignore him, not worth spending your time thinking about anything he says. Your edit is good. The question is clear and understandable, if he has an issue, he should edit it himself.
^^^^^^^^ + I think yours was a good edit @Qantas94Heavy, it fixes the mis-capitalization and fixes a bit of the grammar too, like "how i can put" to "how can i put".
Your edit looks fine to me
@uni: undo the strikeout please, your opinion is important :)

@Qantas94Heavy just read that user's about me once, you will know that he isn't very normal. It's entirely written in third person and without any pronouns. He needs to correct his own grammar first.
Please edit your post and clean up the grammar and punctuation. You're not on a cell phone, and you're not texting your friends. — jww 1 hour ago

@Uni: you should see the android and java tags. Both tags are full of plagiarised answers, and android is full of useless comments. There are certain groups of users that exchange greetings and email ids, sometimes even write comments in unknown language. I never find a good question to answer. I always answer stuff that is atleast 2 days old so that those groups won't disturb me, and run out of flags flagging their plagiarised stuff.

Before I start hunting the web, does anyone how I can get the newest chat message (using JS)? For example, atm I'm using $.post('/chats/roomId/messages/new', { text: 'my message', fkey: fkey().fkey }); to post messages, so is there something similar to lookup messages?
@Sam Scrap the HTML with regex.

Q: Why was this question closed as "too broad"?

meritonI was in the process of answering the question Surakarta board game, capturing pieces move generator when it was suddenly closed as "too broad". I don't see why? The question asks how a program can enumerate the possible moves in a particular board game, whose rules were given by wikipedia link...

11:00
That "too broad" post gathered 3 reopen votes after the MSO post.
Why?
I guess they want to close it again.
If it gets reopened it can have my cv ....
Mine three!
11:04
The surprising part is that a 30k+ user has asked why is it too broad. They show know better by now.
@InfiniteRecursion rep =/= experience. "Your common sense" was a 100k+er. He got suspended.
@Unihedron experience =/= social intelligence. He was suspended because he was a dick, no because he was inexperienced.
@JanDvorak touche.
If the OP is capable of reducing that code-dump to a minimal verifiable example that question could be fine. As it is now it more reads as a complete my code with these requirements... that is too broad. — rene 15 secs ago
