Getting suspended isn't as fun as it sounds.

user163250
1:49 AM
@GnomeSlice I bet.

user163250
Oh shoot, Your Common Sense actually got suspended?!

user163250
@JanDvorak yeah I'm not too surprised that he got suspended too.

user163250
He was often complaining about low-quality and incorrect posts in , and seemed to often single out users on MSO.

user163250
There was one "question" which was actually a warning to "illiterate" users (his words) where he essentially said "Watch out, I'm going to stalk you and downvote you for crap answers".

user163250
Anyways, I came by because I need help answering another user's question on MSO.

Q: Is it wrong to ask about the existence of something?

user3246023I asked Is There A JavaScript Library That Offers OS-Dependent Browser Upgrade Options? The question was down-voted. Among other things, I was told that "You cant ask people... if something exists." Is this true? It sounds like a strange rule.

user163250
I gave this answer:

A: Is it wrong to ask about the existence of something?

CupcakeIs It [Off-Topic] to Ask About the Existence of [a Library]? Yes. Asking the question "Is there a library that does X" is an open-ended question. People create software libraries all the time, and this type of question would invite users to keep posting answers for every library in existence and...

user163250
But from the comments on the answer, the user isn't convinced by my points. His argument is basically that since he didn't explicitly ask for a recommendation, his question shouldn't be closed under the Recommendation Reason.

user163250
If anyone can give a better answer than the one I wrote, please feel free to, because I'm not sure at this time how to make a more convincing argument.

2:45 AM
why is @YourCommonSense suspended for a year? stackoverflow.com/users/285587/your-common-sense .. says "rule violations" , but what did he do ?
This is about as bad as the time that that one guy who ran for Moderator, asked for his account to be deleted b.c I guess he was upset about people not taking his candidacy seriously enough.. Had like over 100K rep I think.

do anyone know, after how much time a site in private beta gets a mod?
There was discussion going on in HinduismSE
and some guys think we need a mod for some activities

@DroidDev To get a mod, you need to write a Meta post where people can nominate themselves or other people.

@ProgramFOX can we do that in private beta also?

@DroidDev Yes, you can. Data Science had that post during private beta.

@ProgramFOX thank you

You're welcome!

6:14 AM
@ProgramFOX they had that post about mods, but no mods in private beta

@ProgramFOX To clarify, the existence of a nomination post does not imply that a moderator will be selected.

@senshin Ah, ok. Anyway, it is a good start.

In fact, Data Science still does not have moderators: datascience.stackexchange.com/users?tab=moderators

Yeah, there are not yet enough nominations.

so, the question stands, when a site in beta gets moderators?

6:16 AM
@DroidDev I don't know when the moderators will be selected, but you can post the question in private beta.

@ProgramFOX ya, that we will do :)

6:47 AM
any reason why it was downvoted again?
and I got another downvote within two minutes, of course, all unexplained.
and at the same time the other, less complete answer upvoted, of course.
all logical, isn't it?

Looks a good answer to me, and it's explained well. Upvoted.

thanks.
I have not commented on anything else than low-quality posts lately by the automated reasoning, so I am not sure whom I pissed off again. I assume it is someone getting back to me from the past.

@JanDvorak no downvotes so it means it wasn't flagged as spam even once. Moderator nuked the account.

[ SmokeDetector ] Bad keyword detected: Web portal for Nike+ running challenges? on fitness.stackexchange.com

@ManishBot what is it?
I'm almost sure that I'll be condemned, because this doesn't seem to be the right SE site, but I don't know which is. Please feel free to move this question to the more appropriate SE site instead of any kind of criticism or insultation. — V-X 4 mins ago

@Alex I think "Nike" is the bad keyword.

10:02 AM
is nike a swear word in a non english language?

Nope, but I think it was added after some Nike spam.

I don't think the actual Nike spam uses the Nike keyword anymore. More like "cheap", "jordan", "shoes", "11s"...

10:24 AM
@ManishBot OK, we got it the first time. ;)

the next one will be me or Hans :-)

poor @ProgramFOX

I should learn to rollback to the correct revision :P

I think he really really wants to delete

Oh, the OP removed the content again.

11:19 AM
I would vote on delete if I had any votes left.

I've flagged for mod attention, they can lock it and then he'll go whining to meta.

or if I get +50 rep :)
@tombull89: IMHO, the community could handle it without giving work to mods.
@ShadowWizard could cast a delete vote
and two other.

@FinalContest there is automatic flag raised in case of such edit wars
anyway, delete vote cast

A: Could not load file or assembly 'System.ServiceModel.Web, Version=4.0.0.0'

user3767106I'm having exactly the same problem. Did you manage to solve the issue?

why cannot these be auto-caught? ^
"I am having the same problem" pattern
not even allowing to submit it.

Today's Listening | Electronic/progressive/ambient

11:29 AM
@FinalContest consider the following: "I'm having exactly the same problem. What I did to fix it was X, Y, Z (full answer follows)" - so no, we should not auto block such answers.

@ShadowWizard what if it ends with a question mark?

@ShadowWizard: already commented.
read that please.
"The system should reject any answer having "I am having this problem, too" alike comments because it is pointless to say that even in a valid answer. "

@FinalContest I saw that and I disagree, tried to explain why :)

what is the point of such fluffy noise?

@FinalContest because users will find ways to overcome this in seconds. "I have the same problem". "I am being have same issue". etc etc etc
So it's pointless to fight it, would be waste of the dev team time.

11:34 AM
I am not sure what you mean. What value does it add even in a valid answer? It is completely useless in invalid answers, so that is already worth it, but what is the point of it even in valid answers?

Keep flagging such answers, personally I often downvote and delete vote myself as well

you are bored then ^^

It means bug and needs fixing so the number of tasks may vary due to improvements on the query
Also notice that the count on the tag page is gone

@nicael nope. Ships.

Q: Gaming system with accepts

nicaelWell, it is not really efficient, but gives some reps (tried two days ago, only 41 reps :-) ). I have, for example, 50 accepted answers. And 101 reps (because of some bountying). I offer 100 rep bounty, unaccept and accept answers again. I am again at 101 reps. Yoyo.

I present a new way of gaming system!
In 20 seconds with -5 score :D

@nicael and it keeps getting down, lol
I guess people don't like you affect others with this
And I can't disagree

In fact, I can foresee how this could result in a lengthy suspension

@JanDvorak you talk about nicael? He did that to find loopholes so...

@ShadowWizard I mean, if exploited by socks. Once someone starts doing weird stuff, they should be easy to notice.

@ShadowWizard So pushing to production for testing is OK now? They do it on SE so why don't we try that as well...

@JanDvorak no socks were involved as far as I could see and understand

s/by socks/to gather rep/

@rene a college of mine pushed "hello world" to production, more than once. Our boss got angry phone call from a manager in 2 AM
So no, not a good idea to use production as test ground ;)

has anyone found out why @YourCommonSense is suspended?

@user0000000 don't think so, guess only way is asking him directly. He's not suspended on MSE so you can try using a comment. Don't expect an answer though, it might be private matter between him and the team.

2:53 PM
The star wall is really boring without @bart on there, no offense though to others.

@user0000000 totally agree. It's like bunch of random posts now.

@rene nah, it's not that fragile ;)

Phew...
I manageed to get the websockets borked because everytime I get pinged it echo's (It looks like I get two or three events sent to me...)

@rene but does it stay even when you refresh?

not sure try again?

@rene if you reload the page you still have two or three notifications for each event?

Now it was one
so a reload fixed it, strange

@user0000000 Should the have answer started with "Because"?
and "simply" after "is" doesn't seem right to me
Removing those two words from the beginning of the answer would make it less dependant of the wording on the question title
HTTP is the web standard for requests. vs Because HTTP is simply the web standard for requests.
"Because" and "simply" just don't belong there
I don't think the inclusion of those two words adds any value.
Their only purpose is to make it longer

@ShadowWizard: that 'interesting' bounty account Nicael discovered, suddenly lost a lot of reputation due to 'serial voting reversed'

I'm starting to think that perhaps that should not have been chosen as the way to start the answer.

Q: Is 100+100+100+100 really 1000?

nicaelThis user have offered bounties for 1,000 reps... Wait, 1,000 reps? 100+100+100+100=1000? Could anyone explain me why is it shown 1,000, not 400?

Pretty interesting history
Read, really interesting

I still don't have my SE goodies from the UPS into itself thingie

@nicael why is this interesting?

Huh... I've just passed a VLQ known-good audit by trying to edit. Nice
Should I make the edit nevertheless? The last paragraph isn't very constructive, and "for the newbs" could be gone, too

@JanDvorak I would not burn my fingers on any post tagged c++...

Yeah, I guess they decided the accounts were separate.

Looks like a case of 'we didn't see those cross-votes at the time'; no new penalty is being applied.
