wow that guy is pissed Benjol
> Infact, apart from a few people here, most of stackoverflow have proved themselves to be compelte imbeciles. I hope that whenever you silly people go for a job that the new employer can see how much of idiots you all are
where?
OK, I see.
@Fosco, yep, I had to flag 3 of those comments, pretty bad.
I just hope someone points it out when it reopens so I can vote to close.
haha
02:29
I would have congratulated him on attempting to ridicule people (poorly) using very poor spelling and capitali(z/s)ation.
but that seemed too rude
02:45
@Hello71 There's little that's too rude when it comes to those people. He's got a solid 10 comments ranting about how people on SO pretend to know things when they don't, which he apparently concluded after watching his question get closed
I don't really know how those things are connected, but as he's been here for about 6 hours I naturally trust his analysis of the site

5 hours later…
07:19
I hate waking up to a segfaulting Chromium. Had to wipe my profile. Sigh. :/
07:33
Probably my fault. It often is ;)
07:53
I'm willing to /blame balpha for this. What with his moes bar language, it must've soaked my profile in alcohol!
08:07
Chromium doesn't segfault on me, but it does like to suddenly max out my CPU. Then it's a race to see if I can kill it before it locks up my computer
@MarcGravell Way to ruin all the fun on that google question :)
@MichaelMrozek Yeah, it didn't like my profile :/
I don't have the CPU problem however.
08:45
sigh, DBus also acts up. Rebooting.

5 hours later…
13:19
lol, those who complain about F1 being boring are missing out today.
(people tuning in now, however, will hardly find more exciting stuff like people diving with their cars into others, including teammates.)
14:04
Holy shit, that was some ending.

2 hours later…
15:44
It's been a while since I last got here.
What timezone? If local, that's fine, just 10 hours to go...
Hawaii if needed
I'll be back in 6 hours.
I'll be asleep in 6 hours.
I hope.
<.<
It should be illegal to have IT-related anything begin at 8am
15:50
Why?
too early ._.
But 8 is a lovely time
8am could be, 6am sure isn't
Plus, the earlier the start, the earlier the finish
16:40
@radp That's a great one
Almost as good as his web developer one :-)
is @radp badp with a new identity?
@PiersMyers 50% more meta, 20% more ninja
Also saves on pixels!
It's win-win-win
@radp and what's the remaining 30%?
Rad, obviously. 30% more rad
Grace said it's radder, it must be true!
16:52
so you were 30% bad before then? Better being rad than bad I suppose
No, I just was 50% before. Now, apparently, I've increased by 100%.
I was okay with a 70% improvement but I guess I'll live with it.

1 hour later…
18:01
What's with the downvoting today
18:38
Just thinking it'll make transcripts fun, because the names on the left update with time, but @badp doesn't. The implicit/explicit reply will point right of course.
As a side note, the name on explicit replies would update if we ever re-rendered the text... my head!
I accept no blame for missed replies while you change over ;p

1 hour later…
19:50
@MarcGravell I can search the transcripts for that
20:50
@mmyers Looks nice. Though, nitpick: your website says "Take up the reigns of your country" (emphasis mine); should be reins. I suppose you could actually make a case for "reigns" in this instance, and wasn't going to mention it, but then I watched your YouTube trailer, which does use "reins."
Scratch that, I don't even know what I'm saying.
@BoltClock I didn't see what you said before you deleted it, but that's a response to something mmyers said to me the other day about a game he created.
Also, ah, hi, how are you today?
Just a little tired I guess. It's 5 in the morning, but I'm staying up for some SO.
Wow.
Where are you, @BoltClock?
Singapore
(Yes, where the F1 races just took place)
20:58
Man, I love me some SO. Even though I'm -- for now -- a bikeshedder.
Ah, I know nothing about F1.
Good, because neither do I.
How are you, @PopularDemand?
<in the style of The Room> Oh hi @ChrisF
Evening all - just dropped in, can't stay too long
just trying to find some SO questions to answer - no luck so far
@BoltClock Good. Football is working out today.
21:19
@MichaelMrozek, if your [feature-request] ends up [status-denied], you can use StackFlair (:
21:32
@rchern I'll just mention that StackFlair already has that feature and the SO devs will trip over each other to get it implemented immediately :P
2
I have school later. I should sleep, so catch y'all soon.
@BoltClock You missed out on a nice race :) a few crashes too, including on teammates and crashed vehicles!
Pretty much the only source of entertainment for non motor sports followers (that's 50% of the archive footage we get about NASCAR here)
@radp I did watch it since it was on TV - just not that interested I guess :S
Well then, I'm off.
21:54
HELLO
22:08
@MichaelMrozek, LOL!!
22:50
Major lightening storms == power failures in NC!
GOing AFK. BBL!
23:18
@TheUnhandledException hope your UPS's are working
23:36
@PiersMyers It was a great test of them actually!
I was three for four, only one died
looks like the whole unit needs to be replaced though :-(
so now one of them is at like 55% load because it's doing double duty... gulp :-)
go go UPS!
@TheUnhandledException so you have no redundancy? Shouldn't you have at least 2 UPS units per server
are they just battery boxes or do you have petrol/diesel generators too?
@PiersMyers This is for my local office workstations :-) Servers are located in a dedicated data center with multiple layers of redundancy, backup generators, all that goodness.
Never had an issue with power with my datacenter
23:41
pah, what do you need UPS for workstations for? Just save your work regularly
@PiersMyers preventing disk corruption? VoIP telephones? Local fileserver?
@PiersMyers The times I forget to save? :-)
or for surviving a <5 min downtime, which is mostly what we were seeing, over and over
do you have power problems regularly?
Ice storms in the winter and the occasional hurricane. This the season...
why not put solar panels/wind generators on your office to generate your own stable source of power? Save the environment too :)
HAHA I would love to
when the company grows a bit more maybe :-)
23:48
or just convert that old exercise bike you've never used, keep you fit too
swap out all your workstations for laptops, they have built in power protection and will stay up for 4-5 hours without power
and the server?:-)
should be in the data centre with the rest of them
if your network goes down, you're stuffed though
yeah and it's a local testing server (vmware) + file server
Should I just put all this on your tab? ;-)
Anyway I'm off to make dinner. Catch you later!
23:58
bed time for me
sleep well @PiersMyers!
no problem with that, getting up is the issue :)
