You mean creating a program that refers to a separate program with its own main() and everything, or just making one that takes the functionality of the original one and integrates it into the new one?
@TheUnhandledException It's not the same problem - I don't have that charset at all, but occasionally web sites that used to render OK just render as a series of squares. A restart usually cures it
... I don't fully understand this latest ASP.Net security problem but trying to read up as much as possible, Are there any questions about it on Stack Overflow that I can read that may sum it up a little better? I would of thought they would be everywhere, but I can't seem to find any.
I just love these sites for learning... I didn't know much about HAproxy apart from it's name... typed it in to search for serverfault and suddenly I learn so much!

well, can't seem to find any questions about this vulnerability... annoying :( I know that very few real sites will be affected, and given a solution, but I would still like to learn more e.g. why it even happens in the first place.

I wouldn't really know what to ask - really not my speciality, was just hoping to read general information about it... at the moment there is just the official forum, but it seems as if people are getting the runaround, being told solutions/fixes, along with the cause but not to much detail - which I can understand as they don't want people to recreate, but still, annoying if you are just trying to learn about this area!
I just bought some more Ram but the computer hangs up on and off.
Are there any software that test RAM and see if they are corrupted or intact?
I've got a Macbook Pro.
@ChrisF if it works, why change it! Memtest86 which I use all the time for PCs is still pretty much the same program for ages, only updates really are the identification names of CPU/memory types... does the same job
@Wil At least for OS X, HP's installer is asking my permission to install their spyware rubbish :-)

@TheUnhandledException FYI, they do a basic driver only package that is a few MB somewhere, you have to hunt for it... its only the full/retail package that comes with the rubbish
People say I'm amazingly well balanced across SOFUM... but people with as much rep as you amaze me. Earning the relatively little rep I have was a challenge enough for me :-)
I find that the rate at which I answer varies. Some times I can go for days without finding anything to answer and then when I do it hardly gets any rep
@TheUnhandledException FYI, I know you don't need it, but still, for next time - h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/… the enterprise driver is the same thing, but 70MB instead of over 300! looks to contain the bare minimum
@TheUnhandledException The rep is nice - if only for the privileges (editing and the like) it gets you. My motivation is to keep my knowledge up to date by researching answers
@TheUnhandledException How is the scanner? I am forever turning pages and waiting, I am thinking of buying the cheapest page feeding combo I can find (solo scanner ones are expensive) then just using it as a scanner...
@balpha thanks - I have watched that and it is very interesting (and scary!), but that is why I want to learn more - I know what/where they copy the little code from, but I just can't understand how that tiny little thing can lead to guessing a crypto string then taking over a web server!...
It is like one day, someone saying to you, 1+1=3, but here is something that can make it 1+1=2 again... I understand that it is fixed exactly by the released guide, but I just dont understand in the first place what caused it!

I have an Epson CX6400 right now (multi function) and it is a pretty descent scanner, it just takes forever, and I have to scan about 20 documents a day, I usually leave it running and come back whenenver
but it is a rubbish printer, and everytime you turn it on, it wastes ink, even if only scanning - so I just use it as a scanner!.. but I want to get a sheet feeder, however, they are so expensive... only cheap ones are with printers, so I want one that lets you scan even if you don't have ink

they always quote at 5% usage - an average document is at least 15-20% MINIMUM, so already a quarter... my Epson was rated at 600, I got about 100 with everyday documents when I used it back to back... when I started using it as a scanner only, it went down to 20 as it dropped ink every time you turned it on! Hate Epson ever since
for everyday printing now, I use a laser for monochrome, and a cheap Epson for colour, sort of like putting my middle finger up at them as I have a cheap £20 Epson and use cheap ink - official one costs around £40 for a full set, fake is £6! only difference is red comes a little orange, but I never print a lot of pictures or anything important, so I would rather save money!
not heard YMMV before - like it!... well, maybe HP are different than Epson - still, just as a scanner, it is a VERY good price! hope I can find something like that over here
but would be great for what you're asking for @Wil! Stand at the printer, feed documents, and they open on your workstation without switching back and forth from keyboard to document feeding :-)
I think it's probably the software on your workstation polling the printer, or something. I almost want to fire up wireshark and see how it's doing that
I have seen it before in some office I support... I am sure the software works well, but I just don't trust things... I would rather it just sent to Email, USB stick or dropped in a network folder ( which many do), I just don't like applications that always listen and stuff - unless very light weight etc, but the fact that the suite takes all that space just makes me think it isn't well written
