Hey guys, so I know lots of higher/more experienced users come here, so I had a minor question that I thought i'd ask to see if any of you know the answer off the top of your head. Could this user be rejecting edits without really thinking about them? stackoverflow.com/users/18061/… ? I also suggested an edit (that was substantial) and this user rejected it and then I noticed he's already reviewed 20 edits today...isn't that a little fast?

You'll have to give more than one case
it might be a matter of a missclick or a simple mistake
if it is not a pattern, it is not something to worry about

ok, thanks. But I think it might be a pattern: stackoverflow.com/users/18061/toon-krijthe?tab=activity IMO, there are an awful lot of rejects...

I just looked through them
each edit he rejected had plenty of stuff still wrong left in it
I would've improved them myself personally but that is not required and a reject is very well appropriate

Ok, thanks for your feedback. But what about my edit linked above, and this one, for instance. stackoverflow.com/review/suggested-edits/4196921

Lot's of fluff
"This is my first JavaScript & Node project and I am stuck…", "Thanks a lot for your help and attention...."
unreadable paragraphs
so many dots
the one linked above should've been approved
but there is no pattern, so I wouldn't hold it against him

1:47 AM
So that's kinda what I mean. Is this user just on the more strict side when it comes to suggested edits?

No, the others are way too lenient
none of these edits should've been approved
fix all of it or don't touch it
or at the very least make the edit substantial enough that most of it is addressed

what about this? stackoverflow.com/review/suggested-edits/4196889. I personally think this makes the post much easier to read

but once you're in that edit window there's no reason to not just comb through the whole thing

I know what you mean. Lots of those edits I would've rejected. But some (such as mine`:)`) I wouldn't have.
I counted out of the last 32 reviews 29 were rejected...idk if that's a lot, but I think it would be.

I'm not familiar so I'm not sure how to interpret that. It might seem clearer with the code formatting but it also causes that scrollbar to appear
I would've split the code over multiple lines myself
otherwise it's just a different kind of bad and good
That's a little much, yes. Although I would probably get close to that as well if I wouldn't improve suggestions and instead reject them

1:53 AM
Ok, thanks for your help and feedback! Now I don't have to ask this on Meta and get downvoted to oblivion ;).

Generally spoken you'll get constructive feedback if you approach something constructively. Improving your own input to the network is always a good cause
Happy to help though

Folks, was there a discussion on meta about "switchable diamond" for the moderators? Does a mod has an option to vote as a normal user without binding results, when he wants to? He would still "turn on" the diamond in other situations, which require strong response.

I never seen one, let me post a question about it now : )
jk, I think you should though

Q: Add a way for moderators to cast a normal, non binding vote

Andreas BoniniI think moderators should have the ability to cast a normal, non binding vote like they were a normal user (while of course retaining their ability to cast a binding vote where necessary). This can be used in "grey areas" where a moderator can choose to give his or her opinion, but not make a de...

@hichris123 Thanks! Close call. I was about to make an embarrassment of a duplicate post.
@hichris123 From what I gather from that thread. Lots of people want the "switchable diamond". But there is no indication that it got implemented. That thread was mostly active back in 2010.

A: Add a way for moderators to cast a normal, non binding vote

As for educating the community, leaving instructive, explanatory comments is far more useful than casting a weak regular user vote in these circumstances. So in summary: lea...

@LowerClassOverflowian I'm not campaigning here in the chat. I haven't promised anything or said anything negative. In any event, it will be on the EE.SE.

@Saposhiente I don't see any close votes on it

4:00 AM
@LowerClassOverflowian No that's the question that mine is marked as a duplicate of. Mine is stackoverflow.com/questions/22122446/…

If you want to satisfy the benchmark requirements you'll have to look into a framework that can set these things up
otherwise there are just too many factors that can manipulate it

@JeroenVannevel Honestly for this question I'm not as interested in which algorithm is actually best as I am interested in what JVM or CPU optimization is making these things sometimes faster or slower, from the perspective of "how can I write code to make use of this optimization that is apparently occurring"
If anything, it being an incorrect micro-benchmark is the point of the question.

Q: Possible duplicate of [Please fix the code so the search terms actually find the duplicate]

Neil LunnSeems to me the biggest cause of duplicates is that the search engine does not do an accurate match on what is a duplicate. Now I know it's hard, but sometimes it's a little difficult for the questions asked to match the right search terms that are going to match something that already exists. ...

Guys, please flag this as low quality, completely wrong answer stackoverflow.com/a/22127766/1741671

Weird, he's still stuck on 15 rep although he got 2 upvotes on some other answer
@Bart about the question to linked to, he want the search engine to always find duplicates, no matter what he ask

@Bart I think what he tries to say is that because he finds there are soo many questions that are (possible) duplicates, the search engine doesn't do it's job, because if the search engine did it's job, people wouldn't ask possible duplicates.

@hichris123 to keep the chart clear and explainable to statidcians (is that a word?) that seems wise

@rene Yeah, the chart was taking too long to load now. :P So... let's do it!
There ya go!

@hichris123 your chart is going to have big jumps multiple times; the first time the fuzzing starting, again when the CV is opened to 3 votes and again after that queue is closed. It might be better to leave those jumps in there and explain what is going on
otherwise you are going to need multiple charts for each time the jump occurs

Can't you render multiple charts on that paged @hichris123?

@Andy Yeah, I know... It looks like this after the first fix, but what happened is I've collected data since ~ the middle of January... and it's a lot of data (10k+).
@rene Yeah, could.
