Q: Why is ubuntu-touch tag still in "my tags"?

BraiamOnce upon a time, I was following ubuntu-touch for some reasons, later on I decided not to follow it. Great, I stopped following it and now questions tagged ubuntu-touch are not highlighted. Good. But then, why they still appear in the Unanswered -> My Tags?

anyone can explain?

@Doorknob Could you please un code format that question?

1:08 AM
That question that hichris is referring to was truly a mess before I rescued it.

1:24 AM

@ManishBot WOW
that is a false positive, somehow

That thing gets false positives all the time. Mostly "phone numbers" and one of my userscripts.

Hopefully the phone number one gets fixed soon. I submitted a pull request for a change to that a few days ago.

@michaelb958 Thanks in advance for the help! :P
@ManishBot Yeah... that one caught on porn...

@hichris123 Are you in a time warp?

1:35 AM
@michaelb958 Yep. Sorry, Thanx in advance :) Better?
I'm going to have to get 2k on meta just so I can do those edits... :P

The close vote queue is under 1000? What kind of madness is this?

@hichris123 madness? seems like @Shog9 business

Then Shog sells madness. Probably conspires with Pekka too.

Even though I really want to know what weird thing you just linked, I really need to go to bed more.

5:19 AM
they're really tearing through the close votes queue
what happens when it reaches zero? does it start showing questions with less than 4 votes/flags?

and the tags are completely irrelevant
and im not sure if SU allow software recs either
isn't there an entire SE site dedicated to that anyway

Hi all, I have regarding this review,
Is this a valid one for approval?
currently I find no one here in this chat.. pls let me know me when u get it. Bye

7:19 AM
@Praveen I'd say it's way too minor, especially since the indentation was left broken.

Do we have a data.se SQL guru lying around?

7:40 AM
Is it true that you can only review 20 items in the close queue now?
I didn't see anything about that on meta.. I thought it was 40..

@JoshC It was 40 two days ago. At least for me.
(and as that was my first time reviewing, I would assume that there is no reason you would be able to review less than I am)

Yea, I found that interesting. If it's not a bug, I have a feeling the number is limited when there is a reduced number of items in the queue.. I just find it odd that I have always been able to do 40
No mention of this has been made on meta either.

@JoshC @Shog loves the attention regarding the close queue, so he's being sure to milk the life of this recent attention for as long as possible

Tim PostI was pretty upset the other day, and requested that my account be removed. I filled out the form and didn't cancel the deletion within 24 hours of it being scheduled. Maybe he found out that answers.yahoo.com was not awesome afterall.
I just had to click 'I understand' :-(

@ShadowWizard Isn't it odd that account deletion is permanant whereas posts aren't deleted permanently? Odd design?

@devnull not weird at all, it would be illegal to keep private information if the user requested to delete it
so hard delete is the only way
that's why underage user accounts are also hard deleted on spot
@rene where you clicked such a thing? :)

8:46 AM
@ShadowWizard But the posts by the user continue to be retained. Legal stuff, I guess.

@ShadowWizard about the deletion thing... are you sure they have to? In my country the only obligation they would have is to fix/delete --invalid data--, and only on request.
that said, SE is based on content, so they wouldn't care about the poster info
they are interested in keeping the answers that provide value. Who posted them is a info they can sacrifice

From an implementation perspective, can someone enlighten me on why deleting posts is tough? (I'm asking so because this happens on SE. Moreover, I've learnt similar stuff about Facebook et al, that deleted posts etc continue to remain in the system despite being invisible even to the user.)

@devnull posts are public content, not private. Once posted, the person who wrote this no longer owns the content, legally speaking.
@SPArchaeologist yes, we can sum this up as "they are interested in keeping the answers that provide value" :)

@ShadowWizard here It is unfair! That question is stupid! It should have been closed a long time ago! WHAT HAPPEND TO THE QUALITY OF SO?! .....Let me take another cup of coffee...

@rene you know Delphi? If not, skip is your friend :-)
I always skip reviews in tags I'm not familiar with
But yeah, failing an audit isn't a pleasant thing

8:53 AM
Uuuh, yes I do know deplhi...
I just can't spell it though

@rene There was a post on meta a couple of days back mentioning the algorithm adopted by stupid computers to figure whether a post is high quality. Blame it on users who upvoted it.

At least it's not easy to mis-spell #C :D

I fallback to c soon

@ShadowWizard That would be tweeting about C

@3ventic oh my... right!
@devnull what you mean "deleting posts is tough"?
It's one click action for diamond moderator

@ShadowWizard To be specific I meant why those aren't deleted permanently. Maybe not right away, but after a certain period of time.

They're not deleted right away so they can be restored if needed.

@3ventic But even spam posts aren't deleted permanently. Do those need to be restored?

@devnull Oded gave good answer about it here
10
A: Why are SPAM questions kept?

OdedWe usually soft delete posts - not hard delete them. This includes deleted spam posts. Doing anything else would complicate the infrastructure and code, which we want to avoid. As deleted content is only visible to +10k users, the majority of users will never bump into them anyway. So - why ...

9:00 AM
@ShadowWizard Yes, I didn't recall the exact answer but this was what I was asking. As in what sort of complications would it lead to?

A: wp-admin shows blank page, how to fix it?

the great whoreOMG!!!! I JUST FIXED IT!!! 30 dollars if you want me to help you ;)

SE employees can hide content completely even from revision history, if needed.

I wonder if SE employees can be review banned

@devnull they will need to change the database structure, e.g. foreign keys, add cascading delete rules

@RaghavSood the account is also named....well....a-typical...

9:03 AM
@Qantas94Heavy I don't think so, and already noticed that specific employee behavior
@YaakovEllis you here by any chance?

@Qantas94Heavy - too sleepy to process all that now. But.... are you sure that the edit is really changing the content?

As someone who knows nothing about the subject, the edits seem to improve the answer..

@SPArchaeologist: look carefully and you'll see that it's completely useless
There's repeat stuff
and random other things
> But the real gain is that max2 does not involve branch jumps, jmp, which would have a significant performance penalty if the predicted result is not right. But the real gain is that max2 does not involve branch jumps, jmp, which would have a significant performance penalty if the predicted result is robust in multiple tests.

I would reject such edit, it's changing the answer even if only by adding things that were not said by its author

addition highlighted in bold

9:06 AM
@Qantas94Heavy Yep, thanks. As I said, still too sleepy. Hadn't have time for my morning tea.

@SPArchaeologist tea?! why not coffee? ;)

@ShadowWizard Try preparing a coffee cup using a chasen.

@ShadowWizard I prefer absinthe

@ShadowWizard hi. yeah, I can see what you guys are saying about that edit - I looked it over and it seemed like it was adding clarifications, but at second glance yes, I agree, it isn't really adding anything. I have reverted it to the previous version
though I would disagree with the notion that changing the answer to add things not said by its author is implicit grounds for rejecting an edit

@YaakovEllis thanks! Really appreciate it. It's just that we have so many robo reviewers, that many here gave up on reviewing suggested edits. You of course are not robo reviewer, but that's why we're so "sensitive" about this.
@YaakovEllis hey how come you're not blue here??
Oh, no diamond on Meta. Weird.

9:11 AM
What's with this constructive attitude @ShadowWizard? Where's the anger? Where's the outrage!?! :)

@Bart Zen philosophy: "never argue whit somebody who can ban you".

I always become suspicious when an employee doesn't have 100-some diamonds on SE

More than ban, he can hard delete anything I've ever said, removing any trace of my virtual existence :D

@SPArchaeologist a direct quote from Bodhidharma if I'm not mistaken?

9:14 AM
@3ventic @ShadowWizard I am a dev at Stack Exchange, but I am not on the Core team. So I don't have auto-diamonds on every site, etc.

Okay

@3ventic they want fair treatment on the sites, it make sense when thinking about it. @YaakovEllis but you can request for a diamond on any site, can't you? :)

@YaakovEllis Does that imply that we can argue with you :-P

@ShadowWizard Yeah, if I wanted it and had a reason for it (ie: want to be involved with that community) I could probably get it pretty easily
@devnull fire away

Why approve a suggested edit only to rollback a while after?

9:16 AM
@YaakovEllis so if I may ask, what you work on in SE? Anything interesting? :)

@devnull right after I approved it I had a feeling about it that maybe it wasn't appropriate, but decided to go with my initial gut feeling. After seeing the feedback here, it pushed me back to the more conservative position (especially considering how many votes were on the original answer)
@ShadowWizard I am on the internal dev team. Lots of interesting things, but mostly stuff that is only accessible internally. Tools to help the sales teams, connect different systems (salesforce, internal dashboards, careers)

@YaakovEllis nice, reminds me of my own work at amdocs - only internal things. So you work from home, I assume?

@ShadowWizard that's right

@ShadowWizard . ...he must be working on the SE/MLP crossover MMORPG....

9:26 AM
We really need that bot that rejects all edits

@devnull actually yes, it's a good edit. Unless I miss something?

@rene And a bot to close such questions too? (Is there any another way to chek if file is executable before i create the file?)

I would not call it a needed edit @ShadowWizard
The answer has a code sample that was correct

@ShadowWizard I'm not sure if the edit improved things by saying after persist().flush() -- does that make any sense?

@rene it fixed enough things IMO

9:29 AM
@devnull a close vote from me

em.flust() is typo, it's obviously em.flush()

@ShadowWizard hmmm, let's disagree on that for once :-)

But if the edit was good enough you shouldn't have done that edit :-)

@rene good enough, not perfect. ;)
I'd give it 70/100 which is enough to approve

9:32 AM
OK

IMO it did more harm than good by fixing a typo.

Why, @devnull?
No harm in fixing obvious typo in code when in answer. It's not like the author did it on purpose.
If several typos though, or code that doesn't compile for other reasons, of course editing is wrong and downvote is proper action.

@ShadowWizard @devnull just to know, how big is the review queue on SO?

@SPArchaeologist suggested edits? usually 0.

k, just like on SharePoint

9:35 AM
You can see it yourself, even if you can't take part
Oh, 3 now!

160 for me

@ShadowWizard Didn't notice it still shows the numbers. Anyway, you know... usually minor edits are rejected because "they clog up the queue". But if the queue is 1 item that is nonsense :P

@ShadowWizard sorry too late
@ShadowWizard Leave a comment for that editor?

@SPArchaeologist yeah, that's not a reason to reject edits anymore. Post age is still a reason though, approving the edit will bump the question to front page so it should be considered.
@rene no sweat, rolled back. I still think what to say to the editor, but yeah we better leave a comment.
It's his first suggested edit, luckily

@balpha: any idea why this user doesn't yet have a Tenacious badge?
I see 5 0-score accepted answers over 10 days old, making up well over 20% of the total accepted answers.
I also see a lot of reputation revoked from removed users, could that have an impact?

@MartijnPieters The badge description says "more than 5 answers", so I think he needs to wait before his 6th answer is 10 days old.

@SuhosinPony Wondering... Maybe you can provide me an answer. I have always wondered if the Blanks are a fanfic invention (aka epileptic tree stuff) or does them actually appear in the show...

The Blanks?
It's not a term I'm familiar with

@SPArchaeologist +2, 13:07 here

@SuhosinPony something related to Everfree forest.

11:10 AM
@SPArchaeologist I don't recall anything called Blanks in the Everfree Forest. Could be that I just don't know the name though.

@SuhosinPony dark ponies without a cutie mark that hunt everyone who venture in the forest at night. I assume the name "blanks" comes from the blank flank.
could be a meme or a community creation (attempt to give a darker feel to the series? ). Or it may be something like the Dark/Black Sea from Digimon.

@SPArchaeologist who speaks my name?

On my profile summary, I see "952 Votes Cast". But when I go to the "votes" tab, I see "777 Votes Cast". Is that because votes on deleted posts are included in the summary but excluded on the "votes" tab?

@Amaterasu hi Amy. Actually, we were comparing you to Fluttershy ^_^ Hope you didn't mind.

Hi, I seem to be experiencing some weird markdown behavior. Check out this suggested edit: stackoverflow.com/review/suggested-edits/4204699
It's already been approved, just now, but the ScrollView tag is misformatted. I began trying to fix it, but whenever you add the preformatting spaces and < in front of it, to make it a tag, the entire ScrollView tag disappears.
Leaving just RelativeLayout as the first tag in the rendered output.
What on earth is going on?
Markdown engine bug?
(Is there a better place to ask this question?)

@PietDelport it is due to the <li> that gets rendered from the -
I removed that and now it also shows the first xml tag

Oh, weird.

11:32 AM
I see. :)
Well spotted, certainly.

We have almost 14K in the CVQ!

@SPArchaeologist They're not in the show.
@SPArchaeologist The fandom has created a lot of secondary species, content etc.

@SuhosinPony So basically the whole story around the forest and how you shouldn't go there at night had degenerated in a whole set of epileptic tree. How appropriate for a forest. But also what a delusion.... I always had that image that a minute after midnight a message would pop up saying "What an horrible night to have a curse"

@SPArchaeologist Yeah, the forest does seem pretty unwelcoming at night, though Zecora manages fine and the ponies do travel there.

@rene Yeah... :(
