Hi all, this question http://meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/221212/any-way-to-see-how-many-questions-with-certain-tags-are-in-the-close-vote-queu just needs 1 more re-open vote to be reopened. Don't all rush to be the 5th vote!
Oh, probably b.c I asked similiar like 4 other times in the last 24 hours.. but it's not like I'm over doing it, I just figured there would be NEW PEOPLE in the chat.. but I guess not if someone flagged it
I'll accept anything that diverts blame away from me. Though Shog might not be the best choice there. He has tools, and access, and the means to do things.
You can only self-delete your account if you have next to zero activity. If you have any posts on the site, you can't self-delete. So most of your points are invalid.
And remember: log out of public computers when you're done.
@Bart If you mash your keyboard hard enough to change your profile about me to 'please delete me' and then flag one of your posts with the right custom flag... you need to slow down.
I think that if someone with over 1k rep asks for their account to be closed, that it should be "fake closed" for 30 days (keeping everything the same, but where if the user wants to access it just like it was before, they still can within those 30 days)... A recent example would be that H20K or whatever his name is that ran for mod but then asked to delete his acct

At the risk of getting this flagged by @Bart , I'll ask this question for a 2nd time. "Do comments on the 2014 moderator election page not count towards your top comments, nor as "real" comments? B.c I did a query and they weren't showing up"
Anyway, I think they are indeed not real comments @LowerClassOverflowian. There was a Meta post on that, related to them lacking a link to the nomination and such in your activity history. That was some elections ago.
Thanks @Bart .. Yea this is my first election. Kind of a good coincidence that I chose my current nick like the day before I knew there was an election and before it started. I somehow got the pundit badge on meta.. but it's been tough on SO, so I was hoping they would count.
I think Tim Stone might be able to confirm (or deny) so don't take my word for it 100%. I unfortunately can't find the post I'm thinking of. Maybe it was just a comment somewhere.
And tough on SO? How so @Lower? You seem to be doing fine?

why cannot people put pause into their posts when it is somewhat long?
The meta-effect downvotes rain down like a thin mist of corrosive ice during a corrosive ice flash storm. You can't see them coming but man, they hurt.

Should users be given a chance to correct their old answers before flagging?
I've been having a (too meta admittedly) with another user on this answer which is a 3 years old answer by Darin Dimitrov.
We disagree on whether or not old link only answers should be flagged immediately or a grace pe...
It has already been discussed, and others flagged and downvoted it, so I followed others. What you are doing is demotivating, basically arguing over a tiny nuance. This is not productive in my opinion, and hence I will not be part of it. It is not a big deal either way, and just arguing about it needlessly is noise in my opinion. Surely, there are better things to do? But yes, go ahead and discuss it to dead if you wish, I will be helpful at cleanup in another many posts in the meantime.
@LaszloPapp I can't make you be a part of anything. It's not about demotivating, it's about learning how to moderate this site better. If we don't flag old link only answers first thing but instead give authors a chance to improve first - the problem solves itself.
Also, I don't get what's 'demotivating' about it. Building a high quality Q&A site means discussing policy as a community every once in a while.
In case that wasn't obvious, I'm not 'blaming' you for anything and I do appreciate the hard work you've been doing in the flag queue. Just because we disagree doesn't mean I don't appreciate your effort..
I do not feel any appreciation in your act. You keep arguing about such nuances, IMHO. It makes people less welcome to do what they are doing, and really, what (big) problem are you trying to solve? A deleted post can be undeleted anytime, and as I wrote, even Jon Skeet's post got deleted in no time, it was discussed here, etc.
@LaszloPapp you don't have to 'feel appreciation' in my act, it's not an 'appreciative' act. The reason I'm discussing these is in order to better the site - not show apprecation. Reducing the work-load of mods is an important goal in my humble opinion.
Like you said, Jon Skeet is not special in that regard, he doesn't get to post link only answers and get away with it (we agree on that). what I believe is that people should be given a chance to correct old answers that were once considered acceptable.
I wouldn't have any issue with delete voting that post, it's flagging it and bringing it to the queue that's bothering me.
I opened that thread so we can voice our (conflicting) opinions on this and get feedback - I would really appreciate it if you post your reasons for the other site on that meta post where everyone can read them.
Upvoting a primitive answer technically, just to get your argument accepted more is way unprofessional, and it is amongst the reasons why H2CO3 deleted his account which is very sad for the site.
even if someone disagrees with deletion, this is way a poor answer to get downvoted by any party involved.
H2CO3 deleted his profile because he did not distinguish between appreciation of his work answering stuff and disagreement with his conduct in answers and being somewhat rude.
He deleted his account because of unprofessional acts of voting for no technical reasons. He did not wanna work with arguing and unreasonable "children".
No matter what, this very poor "answer" got an upvote after flagging, and it seems people give more upvotes for the meta discussion than my initial comment, whereas the former is clearly useful, right?
Anyway, I am off from this... I do not care much about it either way, and I will probably keep flagging these anyways (alongside many others), so nothing will change.
@LaszloPapp voting works differently on meta, it indicates agreement and disagreement and not usefulness/lack of. This is why I think you should voice your opinion on the meta post.
Maybe I have been articulating poorly here, my primary concern is the fact that flagging these sort of questions bloats the queue. Deleting them is perfectly ok in my opinion.
It's really about policy and not about that particular question and I really don't understand why you see this as a personal attack and not as discussion.
In this case? It was deleted because of meta attention.
Moreover, do you seriously want to get every such posts through meta, rather than flagging, and I mean... you talk about reducing the workload? The flag exists for a reason, and I really do not see the problem with "queuing up the flags". They do help to get attention for deleting poor posts, and here is the practical example.
star them, after 24 hours unstar them and flag imo. Again, I think you should make this argument in the meta post (deletion/undeletion, extra book keeping causing more posts, etc).
except that these posts are usually deleted without moderator intevention since they are so poor that 20K+ or even 20K- get the consensus of purging them.
Data that shows the vast majority of flags in the NAA queue are handled by users deleting posts rather than mods deleting posts would definitely convince me.
perhaps you should have done that prior to going to meta?
now people will read this there: OMG, lpapp the CRUEL MONSTER, not giving any chance to a poor 500k user. :-)
At least, you could have made it clear it is about your thought of moderators deleting (and acting) more than 20K+ users, in which case the problem is not the flagging, but the system that 20K+ is too high if it does not achieve its intended goal.
The system, IMHO, should provide an option to get attention to 20K+ users without distracting moderators.
So here it is this example
public static void main(String[] args) {
new Stuff(null);
new Stuff("a");
new Stuff(1);
}
and class Stuff is defined as follow
public class Stuff {
Stuff(Object o){
System.out.println("object");
}
...
@JeroenVannevel It sometimes only appears after refreshing the page
It's possible that someone already flagged/voted to close it and deleted their comment, which could in theory prevent another one from popping up for the same question
I just cast a close as dupe vote on a question here on Meta. In the past it used to push the auto generated comment live but now I can't see my comment after voting, only after I reload the page.
Can we get the old behavior back please? :)
Feel free to vote to close as dupe of some random quest...
