The Yún distinguishes itself from other Arduino boards in that it can communicate with the Linux distribution onboard, offering a powerful networked computer with the ease of Arduino. In addition to Linux commands like cURL, you can write your own shell and python scripts for robust interactions.
@hichris123 I understand that you are excited about an upcoming site, and that's great! However, please do not try to "pack" the proposal with people who are not experts in the topic. We need to build a (Okay, this is getting too long, joke over.)
Since day one of Stack Overflow, all content posted on Stack Exchange sites by their users (i.e. you wonderful people) has been provided to the whole universe under the CC-BY-SA license. For my fellow non-lawyers, that license basically means:
Anyone can use any Stack Exchange posts at any time...
Handle issues that come up that the mods want extra eyes on, look over meta to see if there are any interesting proposals that the team should consider, look for weird stuff like traffic dropping precipitously.
@hichris123 I wonder if that includes messages in the team or mod chatrooms that are also technically on the MSO chat.
They go into a spreadsheet. I look at the site and see if they're actually SCRAPERs; occasionally, we get reports from well-meaning users about sites that are using SE content appropriately. If they don't follow our terms, I try to get in touch with them to get them to play by the rules. The vast majority of the time, they don't respond. When their contact information is even valid in the first place.
Sometimes they post e-mail addresses or other contact info on their sites. Other times, they have "contact us" forms. A lot of times, I have to do WHOIS lookups.
@hichris123 for more on website contact info, there was a recent article in The Washington Post, reprinted by the Sydney Morning Heraldhere; POSSIBLY NSFW because of the nature of the sites it uses as examples for people who don't want to be IDed.
@hichris123 If you've ever worked as a frontend supervisor, you'd know that cashiers will hover around you whenever they want something, like to go home early.
@Undo I don't want to reward the endeavour of replacing perfectly fine entry-level jobs with a typically poorly executed and frustrating system. ...So yeah, kind of.
@Pops tried to ask a question (deleted now) and got a commented bundle of links to wikipedia... whih I do not find particularly helpful, but from experience, downvotes usually follow
My average day involved walking in, noticing one of the machines was off, and asking the other supervisor "Why aren't we using that one?" I'd receive a reply along the lines of "It's not working properly," go over to the machine and push a few buttons, and it would be working fine.
@Undo Watch him go out to the lobby and take pics of the coffee and tea makers, and someone will ask him why. "I don't know, the guys in the Tavern wanted pics."
READ THIS BEFORE YOU MARK IT AS A DUPLICATE!
I can post Q's or A's AND I have nothing to improve. I ask a question and answered a few questions one answer had a couple questions and answers with a negative vote they were deleted. The rest have neutral or positive votes. Any suggestions?
I just noticed this text in the Tavern:
not the room you are looking for?
After a few minutes, I realized that this text seems to be pointing to the "there are other rooms, with..." text. But it made me think. Good design does not make me think. Therefore, this is not good design. Cou...
