4:16 PM
@Oded: LOL I got 5-10 flag declines, but some of the comments were removed then.
this includes moderators, stuff, too.
ah, no, it is not subjective... it is surely objective.

Make sure you flag correctly. If you flag something a comment as rude but it isn't (but is obsolete), the flag would be declined, but the comment deleted, for example.

it was flagged as obsolete.
I think there is a huge amount of hunch by now against my personality for decisions.
(which is not healthy when it comes to technical and objective decisions, especially when moderators do that)

Different people have different criteria - a comment may be one that several different flags apply to - make sure you use the most appropriate one and give a good flag summary.
Sometimes the whole post should be removed - why flag comments in that case?

4:31 PM
@Oded Several users have deleted comments themselves, when part of the conversation was butchered. That could explain declined flags, yet disappearing comments.

Yeah, there's that too.
More likely on current posts where comments are still happening

So much so that the post is by now locked.

@Oded: that is nonsense to me.
it keeps happening all over the place, that obsolete comments are removed, but not when I flag them. It really feels like a personal targeting.

What? That people who are commenting and see other comments being deleted delete their own (now obsolete) comments?

huh???
there were people like Bart who did reject to delete their comments.

4:35 PM
I can tell you this - moderators cannot see who flagged a comment. So... the mismatch is somewhere else.

not to mention, it has nothing to do with people deleting their content, or me removing mine. This has been happening ALL-OVER-THE-PLACE.
I can provide evidence if you wish. My flagging history is full of it.
@Oded: but then can easily guess.
when it is in my thread, surrounded by my reply, etc....
(especially when I even mention here, etc)

FWIW, Arjan indicated he deleted his comments. And I did the same. So there you go: declined flags - deleted comments.

Bart: you are so wrong.

As usual.

"Spam edit approved?" edit decline has nothing to do with Arjan, nor with you.
Moreover, I have NOT flagged Arjan's comments!

4:38 PM
@LaszloPapp No they can't. You are both underestimating the number of comment flags moderators have to deal with and how much effort moderators would put into identifying people.

NOR yours as I explicitly wrote here because I did not have more flags!
@Oded: it is close to zero effort in most of my cases.

And yet, it is non-zero and frankly, when mods are on the queue, they are more interested in the content than the person.

wow, the "Spam edit approved?" thread was removed.

Like I said - the mismatch is probably somewhere else.

@Oded: wanna me to provide evidence?
You do not seem to believe me.

4:40 PM
You don't seem to believe me.

Is it just me, or do these discussions generally not seem to go anywhere?

@Oded: correct because I think I have evidence.

@Bart Well, I suppose "around in circles" is technically somewhere, just...not somewhere far.

@Bart they always seem to.
@TimStone as in "circular thinking"?

Bart: I am sorry that asking you politely to remove your obsolete comments go nowhere....

4:42 PM
I sometimes wish I had the memory of a goldfish @TimStone. "Ooh, new ..... ooh new ..."

but you decided not to remove it.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

My word, that comment thread is fairly lengthy. There's a number of deleted comments on top of that?

I would think more than actually remain @TimStone.

Huh

4:45 PM
Hi

Hello

Ho @Harry

is there a way to anonymously submit questions to avoid the personality based votes?

Nope

Sure. Open an anonymous window and post anonymously.

4:46 PM
i.e. already disassociating at the moment of submitting to get the thread more productive?

I am trying to suggest a tag synonym but I keep getting the message that I need +5 score in the tag. I crossed that mark today only, so should I wait till UST tomorrow?

@Harry: yes, I think it is counted at 3 am.
(at least London time)

thanks a lot @LaszloPapp :)

yw.

@Harry - score = #of upvotes - #of downvotes, so make sure that's what you mean (and not simply your reputation on the tag)

4:48 PM
@Oded: ah yeah, i meant the same :) thanks

@Oded: "Can you provide any examples of posts that exhibited this? "
examples were provided long ago, several of them. I marked for removal, it is still there.
and the obsolete flag was declined.
I simply cannot understand what the person thought when handled that flag
robo flag handler?

So, your notion of obsolete is not the same as that of the flag handler.
And moderators are people too, you know?

people to fail for ALL my flags, seriously?
"@LaszloPapp your example is a meta example. So your question is solely about Meta? Or about the main site too as indiciated in your question?"

Moderators are people ...... yeah, right.

It was fixed long ago, obsolete flag declined.
I wish some of them thought the same at times. :)
@Oded: oopsie, yet another minor mistake in the same queue ?
"@LaszloPapp sorry, I missed the 2nd link, my bad."

4:52 PM
Is this discussion still going on? I left it 12 hours ago..

another one, oopsie, another minor mistake?

You do know that I can't see your screen? I don't really know the specifics you seem to be talking about.

@JoshC Nah, you've just been caught in a loop. Only an hour has passed here

"I do not know who downvoted =D" in another comment. I marked it as totally useless by using "too chatty"
declined, too.
it was written by a moderator, fwiw.
how do you explain those reviews, robo, or human mistake?

4:55 PM
Give it up..

@JoshC, I've been following the Tavern since the early morning, and it was simply hijacked by MY Downvotes, MY Flags, MY Reputation, MY Comments, MY Whatever.

(because some people prefer to make noise about "robo reviewers" which I have not made yet about these cases)

and out /

@brasofilo Sad to say the least.

@brasofilo You seem to imply someone is being rather self centered. Do you have any evidence?
I mean, apart from chat transcripts, posts and comments?

4:58 PM
Please be civil @Oded. :)

Patience is wearing thin, @Bart

I agree with Bart in here. There is no need to offend people who are discussing issues.

Hello

Holla good Sir of the @HamZa clan.

Hi@HamZa

5:02 PM
You know what, let's switch topics a bit and say bad stuff about @jadarnel27. He's not listening anyway.

He's too busy getting married, silliness.

@Bart: your edit has not helped much in here, meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/196135/…
(nor in the other thread, the downvotes continue even though you said the content is not that bad as is)

I'm having some mental issues, it's about downvotes and answers ...
Generally, I don't like to downvote answers since the authors are trying to help the OP. I know that downvoting wrong answers is encouraged, well that's my opinion.
I'm someone who watch over the regex tag (on SO) and I'm sick of those questions "Gime the codez". Trying to close those questions too.
But now, I'm wondering. I see several high rep users (sometimes +50K) answer those low efforts questions. Should I downvote them and leave a note that (s)he should vote to close it ?

@HamZa Tricky one. I think that specific issue even had a discussion on meta.

Q: Why aren't these "Give me teh regexz" questions closed?

JDB(The proposed duplicate question discusses giving these questions better titles and closing as duplicates where applicapable. I am specifically pointing out the vast number of "give me the code" questions which show no effort at all, and aren't closed.) We have beaucoup (lots, a plethora, gobs) ...

I know this one

Hahaha, great timing

@HamZa - trying to help an individual (boosting ones rep in the process) at the detriment of the site...

xD

I know I no longer answer such questions. And I have in the past downvoted and commented as such to answer posters that should know better.

5:06 PM
sigh

they should not use regex in the first place, imo.

@LaszloPapp lol
Well most of them shouldn't, if you can't write a regex then don't use it

Those things are only ever good for parsing HTML

/me ducks

/me looking for bobince

@HamZa: regex questions mean automatical -1 for me, but sometimes I help them not to forget how painful regexs are.

5:08 PM
haha

It has been nice knowing you @Oded. I'm sure you won't hear of me after this.

@Bart My condolences to your family

:D

Some people, when confronted with a problem on SO, think "I know, I'll ask on Meta." Now they have two problems.

nah, meta is even worse than regex. :D

5:12 PM
@LaszloPapp Hey, regex is a beautiful language :P

Q: "vertical" regex matching in an ASCII "image"

QtaxNote: This is a question about possibilities of modern regex flavors. It's not about the best way to solve this using other methods. It's inspired by an earlier question, but that one is not restricted to regex. The Problem In an ASCII "image"/art/map/string like: ....X....... ..X..X...X.... X...

/me hates it

5:28 PM
@Bart: your comments in the same thread are still way obsolete (some of them, that is).

What thread?

we were discussing one thread, it is the same.
LOL, one of the comment authors is writing it to me I am getting downvotes because of writing stackoverflow instead of Stack Overflow, ridiculous.

I see no obsolete comments
of mine

That's not why you have been downvoted

read harder; that is my suggestion then.

5:34 PM
Meh, point them out or I simply won't care

you have not cared before either when I mentioned, so let us just skip it this time to avoid the argument.

Sounds like a plan

Progress!

Now just stop talking about it and we can mark it as 'status completed'

what is the response time for the team?
Last time it was around days, is that usual?

5:41 PM
Can be. They are busy folks

@Bart: meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/196135/… someone is claiming I wrote that someone did something "seriously wrong". Can you point me out where that is written in the post? I simply cannot find it in the last variant, at least.

nope

it seems if I write nope people do not believe it, or even consider to read it again, and point out.

@LaszloPapp Can you point out where someone is pointing that out?
Otherwise, you pointing that out is pointless

eats yogurt

5:48 PM
brown yogurt?

No, it's strawberry banana.
It's ok, because jadarnel isn't here.

6:10 PM
>_> <_<

Who tattled?

I'm sorry. I mentioned "brown".

@jadarnel27 Wait, what are you doing here?!

6:26 PM
I bet someone said there were free cookies here

Who said cookies?
Ah dammit

does disassociation also mean that the relevant history entries get hidden or/and removed?

6:45 PM
my keyboard is working perfectly again! :d
after I opened it was hard to put it back, the keys didn't need to be pressed at all times until finish

6:58 PM
@TimStone Just thought I'd pop in.
Alright, gotta go say these vows and stuff. See you guys!

Good luck. Enjoy your day @jadarnel27

@jadarnel27 The addiction is strong! ;) But yeah, best wishes! Hope it all goes splendidly!

7:16 PM
Shog9: thanks for cleaning up the noise there. I am grateful for it.
Shog9: can you clean up the noisy here, too, for instance the comments under my post? I do not think that is going anywhere either. I asked for details from the person, but getting nothing. This way, we will just keep arguing uselessly. meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/203176/…
Shog9: the only bad thing is that posts cannot be edited which are locked.
Should not commenting and editing be decoupled? It also blocks improving the current content.

2 hours later…
9:34 PM
@LaszloPapp This has been... resolved.
@LaszloPapp Generally, no. However, a comment-only lock has been requested, and may be implemented eventually.

1 hour later…
10:48 PM
Oh that question entertained me for a while...

11:58 PM
hi everyone
i got this message when I opened /review page
> You have failed too many recent review audits – looks like you might need a break. Come back in 6 days to continue reviewing
is there a way to see history of the failed/passed audits ?
