@probablyPekka BECAUSE IMPENDING DOOM

1:20 AM
@probablyPekka I think you missed the one comment on the video and who put it there maybe.

1 hour later…
2:43 AM
@TCPMAN.EXE oh.
I did indeed.
@AndrewBarber show him the moderator controls
Zap a few sockpuppets
If that doesn't make him want to lean programming, become a member on Stack Overflow, and become a moderator, nothing will!

anyone know if there's a question on combining comments into an answer?
(assuming that the resulting answer is actually a legitimate answer and helpful)
specifically, on what the etiquette is
(yes, I checked the faq)

3:32 AM
It's awesome, @dennis
(Will provide refs and /or add to the FAQ when I'm not at a concert)

I meant like attribution/no attribution and CW/no-CW
but have fun at the concert

Yes. Copious attribs. No cw

just wondering

They're about to suspend two kids from the ceiling using hooks inserted under their skin. America, man.

o.O

3:50 AM
Wow... This is... Something else

user202362
Don't see moderators editing on the Stackoverflow main site a lot any more, but always see a bunch here on meta, what is going on here?

user202362
There must be 500+ legimate new questions there on Stackoverflow main site, but less than 50 here on meta, yet most of the moderators effort have been spent here on meta.

user202362
It is not for a regular user like me to judge, but it seems something is not quite right ...

What kind of weird concert is Shog7⅜ at?
@User17 Do you think perhaps you see more moderator edits on MSO because you see more of the total questions? SO gets 6k+ questions every day. You're bound to miss some of that activity =)

Halloween metal thing, @jadarn.

4:08 AM
@jadarnel27 well, with every 10 new questions this year I have gone through on the stackoverflow main site, I saw 2-3 modertor's edits/answers, max! But it seems every question here in meta gets 2-3 modertor edits/answers.

Sure, but if we tried to get 2-3 moderators per question on the main site, they'd crack under the workload

@User17 Well, I think the moderators (and employees) use the meta posts to track site activities and issues. And I think they especially use the tags to do this. So my perception is that a lot of the edits are probably done to make sure things keep running smoothly.
And that meta posts that require moderator / employee action don't slip through the cracks.
Also, I'm reasonably certain that moderators actually get notified (in some way) of every new meta post for the site they moderate.

would not be surprised

Indeed. I'm pretty sure I've seen them mention this notification before. But I'm not a mod, so I don't recall for sure.
@Shog9 Ohhh. That kinda makes sense.

@jadarnel27 Every site except Stack Overflow.

4:19 AM
I keep forgetting it's Halloween. Other things on my mind.

But we have Andrew Barber to fill our inboxes with moderator messages, so it's all fair.

speaking of which
animuson: are you dressing up as a cat for halloween?

@animuson Ah, I see. I guess getting pinged for every MSO post would noisy and unhelpful.

No, actually I haven't celebrated Halloween in ages. I just find it entertaining to dress up in random outfits. :P

Hmmm, where does one draw the line between outfits and costumes?

4:28 AM
not sure, i guess he's in the gray area?

animuson lives in the gray area.
Pfft. Moderators.
(My phone autocorrected that to "puffy moderators" the first time haha)

Whenever someone says costume it tends to get associated with Halloween, which bugs me because I don't dress up for Halloween, I dress up for fun.

@jadarnel27 Just find a moderator who likes to dress up as the michelin man
boom, puffy moderator

I don't think I'll be adding that to my collection any time soon.
Bahahahaha omg a Michelin commercial just came on TV. Priceless.

@animuson bam, i must be psychic or something

4:45 AM
I wish I could find my white Stack overflow shirt. :( I wore it once and put it in the laundry and it like disappeared off the face of the planet. I think my parents messed up a load of laundry and just threw it all away. >_>

5:01 AM
Amazon has listed LEGO Legends of Chima under the platforms Nintendo DS and PlayStation Vista...
I'd report it but they always make me jump through hoops just to report a simple typing error. They need a Meta Amazon.

lol

5:19 AM
oh geez
one of my classmates showed me a clippy in vim gif

Ha.

hilarious, yet terrifying

Now you have three problems...

clippy, clipping clippy, and clipping clippy clipping?

Your original problem, regular expressions, and clippy trying to help with them.

5:27 AM
reminds me of that old gag
"i had a problem, then decided to use fork(). now i have two problems"
"i had a problem, then decided to use threading. now problems i two have"
3

I'd never heard that version.

a friend from college told it to me last year

I didn't come across any of that until I started hanging around here: codinghorror.com/blog/2008/06/…

nice

2 hours later…
7:37 AM
@animuson I know the feeling. MSO has something special about it - nowhere else on the internet is filing a bug report so much fun...

8:15 AM
Damn it, my account got compromised and it's weekend...

4 hours later…
11:50 AM
@Bart That is SOOO wrong.
^^^ Like that
@probablyPekka Nope, it isn't.

Be funnier if it were stackoverflow there and not reddit

heh
<!-- unfortunately stackoverflow.com are too smart, and have set X-Frame-Options: SAMEORIGIN :( -->

:)

user202362
Meta is a lot like reddit though ...

user202362
wait I don't use reddit

user202362
also someone stole 'borrowed' my name on reddit

12:23 PM
As I assumed @Oded. But that's how I will pronounce it from now on. If you ever hear a random person shout this at you, it might just be me.

Something to keep in mind - though may be hard to hear over the crowds shouting Oded whenever I go out to the street.

Btw, perhaps I can get a bit of input? Does this deserve to be closed? stackoverflow.com/questions/19584127 I kinda get it, but in a Unity3D context, that's all the info you need, and it's not surprising to see the question come up.
But I might be biased.

Looks legit. Reopened

Thanks

Is there anyway I could change my name back to the previous one at the moment? I forgot one could only change name once a month and am stuck with this dumbass one :/

Go to another account (of another site) change it there and then copy to all other accounts. I think that was a valid work-around.

user202362
2:26 PM
I tried it, didn't work ... first on Stackoverflow main site, now here

And on your other account? Server Fault.

user202362
nope

Then you're stuck for a while.

user202362
Thanks for trying to help anyway ... only for another 3 weeks ...

Huh, it doesn't work anymore?
That was the official workaround, and it has been for years

user202362
2:46 PM
:(

10:27 PM
morning, quick question: when I review posts (i.e. late answers) and the post needs flagging to moderator, but I run out of flags for that day - what should I do ?
