2:06 AM
Hi, why am I forbidden again from reviews? I had 50-60 reviews within 24 hours while passing many tests, not failing at any tests, and this was the one after I got the ban: stackoverflow.com/questions/19595918/…
I simply disagreed with the reopening reason. I would like to appeal. What is the best way to do so? I even added a comment before clicking on the "Leave it open".
I have not even received a "STOP" message this time or any reasoning why this was a "wrong" review.
/me is upset about this silly review auditing system at times.

Nah, that one was a manual ban.

That makes no sense to me, sorry.

@LaszloPapp It was spam. You approved it.
That’s gross and I banned you from review
5

I will definitely appeal.
I think the situation differently.
Note, I have passed 4-5 tests in a queue as well.

2:16 AM
Audits are obvious.

and "approving" everything is pretty invalid claim as well.

No, you voted to approve it

just see the last comment I complained about.

So it’s a pretty valid claim
@LaszloPapp Which one now?

"Approve" everything is a pretty stupid claim.

2:18 AM
How so?

including the 40 Qt close review in a row.
I am a Qt developer FFS.

I, uh. What does that have to do with anything?
2
Did you or did you not vote to approve stackoverflow.com/review/suggested-edits/3222957

been acting in Qt for a while, was top one at times for the last 30 days, and I left several comments before acting for those review closes, and any of them can be reviewed anytime. Those were all properly processed.
you are not making any sense.
it is not me who did not read the thread completely, but you.
I am referring to a post in that thread.

Your review ban is not because of an audit or a close/repoen review.

It is you who are not making any sense. Please just answer my question:

2:20 AM
It's because you approved a spam edit

Dude - you approved spam. You got banned for that!

^ This. Also read the meta question that was linked. (Thanks @JoshC!)

3:14 AM
/me has made screenshots about the comments based on past experience...
@ThiefMaster: just read your comment, well, you have not read the banning thread fully, have you?
I suggest to read it completely first before answering for seemingly something unrelated. That may spare some time.
@minitech: it was not just me approving, and even mistakes happen in communities. Why do I even need to mention that? It is all written there, and I think it is natural.
@JoshC: you are ignored here. I apologize for that, but you do not keep the conversations here and on meta civil and constructive (IMO) which makes it harder to discuss nicely. I am not in a position to remove your such comments, but at least I can stop seeing them here... I asked for it several times now, explicitly, I am afraid.
but yes, seems the tendency is to make a noise about other people's approval in meta, so I may want to do that in the future, to start a banning avalanche...
will the upvoters also get 30-day ban for closed questions (it is not possible to know, but ethically speaking), or say deleted, or the answer authors for deleted questions because they have made "mistakes"?
and what shows the total unbalance of stackoverflow: there is not even a single "liked" mark for several apologizing comments. People do not like things, but they do not like apologizes either. Well, not that I am looking for likes, but it also shows how issue oriented certain people there are rather than solution oriented.

3:43 AM
@LaszloPapp Yep! That’s why everybody got banned. Not picking on you.
As for rude comments, I’ll go clean those up now. Any objections to taking out, well, ’most everything?
They’re not really rude, but there’s a lot of noise at the bottom

4:05 AM
@minitech: no objections from me, especially on your answer.

2 hours later…
5:50 AM
3 letters of my keyboard stopped working, 5 6 ctrl
this usually happens, but on more keys, and usually go away after some minutes... but I restarted twice and isnt fixing :C
humm if i leave a key pressed ir types/deletes very slowly repeatedly

6:42 AM
@minitech: please do not clean it up. Otherwise my claims will seem invalid.
Also, I will send many reviewers making mistakes. It is too bad they will be banned for 30 days, but I will follow the zero tolerance principles then.
I would like to get this recorded for the future as is. If that does not happen, I will need to publish the screenshots on my blog to get it recorded.
It will be something to point the people to when referring to inclusiveness and constructively helping each other is important, at least, for my life.

user234239
incredible

user234239
7:00 AM
but I agree, a 30 day edit-suspension for approving spam (be it deliberate or careless) is more than fair.

oh, I do not have you on ignore? You are now!

user234239
lol, such because my opinion is different.... I find it amazing that some seem to think that everyone must have the same opinion as them - and to differ is to be 'mean' etc.

user234239
@LaszloPapp putting me on ignore is your prerogative, my life will continue on as normal (my birthday is today and continues to be awesome).

7:19 AM
(FTR, this user targeted several personal offenses in the past in here in a non-constructive way, and that was said by other people, too, like calling others "troll" for different opinions, etc)

user234239
all this, just because I dare to disagree with you. besides, I thought you were ignoring me?

user234239
anyways, have fun - going to play the piano for the afternoon, then read up on good programming languages for a project I am involved with

7:43 AM
"@LaszloPapp: Nobody said “approve everything”…" -> I do not understand how that can get four upvotes.
Are there some blind followers? That is so totally wrong, and anyone can see who reads the comments, but I proved it wrong just right under that. I cannot understand why people upvote so totally wrong stuff; it seems to me blind follow-ship (subjective over objective).

user234239
4 people agreed with the statement - it was not wrong for them

surprising, surprising, the reply to that which writes the right thing has zero like... (no, I am still not looking for like, just pointing out the obvious which is apparently not obvious for blind-followers)

user234239
people have different opinions, does not mean that either you or them are 'wrong'

user234239
name calling will get you nowhere

Happy B-Day UV-D :)

user234239
7:51 AM
thank you @Oded

Is there a way to ignore posts where the name of a person appears?

user234239
lol

user234239
@Oded I dared to disagree with the almighty Laszlo...lol

@LaszloPapp No, there isn't. You can ignore posts by a person, but not those that contain their names.

ok, thanks, too bad. :/
sounds like a feature request.

user234239
8:01 AM
lol

Though, shutting out every opinion that is different from yours lends to a rather... limited world view.
5

have you even read what I wrote?
"(FTR, this user targeted several personal offenses in the past in here in a non-constructive way, and that was said by other people, too, like calling others "troll" for different opinions, etc)"
several people considered that person unfriendly and hostile.
I gave up when he called others troll for different opinions.
it was clearly and explicitly written that it is not about a different opinion; it is about his non-constructive attitude. It is his decision to behave like that, but I do not wanna read trolls, idiot, etc here.

Do yourself a favor and walk away from the computer. When agitated, it is best to walk away for a while and calm down.

I am not agitated; perhaps you think about how you would feel?

And please, stop bringing up stuff that has nothing to do with the current situation.

user234239
8:03 AM
@Oded I deny this

I have no idea what you mean ....

@UV-D I am aware of the history.

user234239
@Oded no worries, that is awesome

@LaszloPapp - you seem to have a tendency to bring up quotes and arguments from past issues. This is not constructive for the most as they are normally only brought it to support your view and are actually not as relevant when viewed in context.

user234239
hey @Oded I told the pizza people it is my bday, got a free coke and a caramel sundae

8:07 AM
@UV-D Awesome :)

I have to disagree with you.
in fact, ignoring someone without giving an explanation is rude.

That's fine. We seem to disagree on lots of things. That's fine, you know.

this is also what the recommendation is after all when you downvote something on SO ....... and many people cry for it, desperately.
It is ok if you go against that, but I will not.

user234239
thankfully no one sang to me

@LaszloPapp It can be a coping mechanism. In particular when the ignored party seems to be on a crusade and isn't really paying attention.

8:08 AM
I am on the recommendation side.

@UV-D lol
@LaszloPapp Sure. And I am on the side of keeping quality high.

It is not about the other party paying attention.

user234239
checked facebook... 80 notifications

it is about the quality of the channel you would break.

@UV-D Someone is popular ;)

user234239
8:09 AM
lol

if people do not know who ignore whom, the conversation may become messy.

Meh

user234239
all hail! I am waiting for the dancing party

user234239
hey @Oded, bill gates has once again not sent me a billion dollars as a bday present

the comparison is that I am willing to apologize for mistakes, but certain people do not feel it rude to easily call others "troll", or even apologize for such things.

8:13 AM
@UV-D how selfish of him
@LaszloPapp that's people for you. Move on.

user234239
@Oded 37 years, still waiting lol

@Oded: please talk to them instead of me. They have more on their plate to talk about.

user234239
@Oded how have you been?

@UV-D reminds of the joke - guy walking behind the coffin in <enter mega-rich person name> funeral, crying his eyes out. When asked if he is related, he says no. Asked again, why is he crying for, he answers - that's why.

is there a mechanism to prevent "robo" comment likers?

8:17 AM
@LaszloPapp I won't. First, because I don't find it a problem, second, even if I would, I see that's how things are and move on.

user234239
@Oded LMAO - classic!

@LaszloPapp Um. What? Is there a problem there?

right, nice quality.... it is not a problem to offend others, calling them troll for different opinions, idiots, etc. Well, we surely disagree about certain things, I believe. Interestingly enough, you cannot move on when such claims are brought up by certain people; you can only move on for the other side.

I am getting deja-vu here
This is really getting old

What is the problem with robo comment likers? They do not think before liking stuff, and the site readers may become misled by upvoted comments which are potentially wrong.

user234239
8:21 AM
@Oded this I agree with

user234239
by the way, got published again

@LaszloPapp Who cares? Comments can be deleted any time (and mostly, if not relevant, will get deleted if noticed)
@UV-D congrats - what and where?

In my opinion EVERYONE quality concerned cares about the quality of the SO content, and no there have been several examples for the rejection of comment deletion flags in such cases. Even if it was working, it is an additional work to fix rather than prevent it.

user234239
@Oded my UV radiation app study in an international journal

@UV-D cool.

user234239
8:25 AM
and the app works with a 98% accuracy

@LaszloPapp where is there evidence of "robo comment upvoters"? And that it is a problem?

@Oded: I have just written one above .....

@UV-D Using the camera?

user234239
yup

@LaszloPapp No. You wrote an opinion. That's not evidence. Nor is it evidence of it being a problem.

8:27 AM
but I have read many wrong comments the last weeks while looking for technical help, and others also wondered why they are upvoted. The problem has also just been explained above.
Yes, it is just an opinion that the apple is apple, and black is black. Well, I will not continue it because it is getting non-serious to claim black is black in your opinion. One would write spam is spam in YOUR opinion.

@UV-D Nice hack - 98% accuracy is impressive. What is the error margin?
@LaszloPapp Ah. Circular logic. Nothing like it.
"It is a problem because I say it is."

user234239
0.1%

it is exactly not that anyone says it, but the content speaks for itself. Let us not turn something into subjective which is clearly objective.

@UV-D How was it tested?
"but the content speaks itself" - no, not really. Percentages of comments that are problems (and that are not dealt with) would help. Isolated exampled don't make it a problem.

user234239
field tests in my backyard, and 3 other locations, calibrated to standard equiment

8:30 AM
Yes, content quality does not matter for a "quality-minded" person. I am bailing out, I guess.

What use cases for the app do you have? (apart from "should I wear sun-screen today")
Quality of throw away content is not that important.

user234239
it also measures the level of air pollution to similar accuracy

@UV-D huh? How did you manage that? Spectrum analysis?

user234239
almost - the camera is UV sensitive, as I found in previous papers

/me is flagging a comment from a moderator for moderation which is clearly wrong, /me is pretty sure it will be rejected for that matter.

8:36 AM
@UV-D Yeah, figured that - but how does that tie in to air pollution?

user234239
attenuation of UV irradiance

@LaszloPapp You'd be surprised. If the comment left by a mod is obsolete or adds no value it will get deleted.
@UV-D Didn't know that the attenuation was indicative of pollution. Makes sense though.

@Oded: the history for that is yet to be proven wrong then.

user234239
@Oded my previous papers look into that aspect - I can link the if you want

@UV-D probably too much math for my little brain - thanks for offering though ;)

user234239
8:40 AM
lol, if Bill Gates gave me my bday gift, I could organise a demonstration

hehehe
If I were in Israel, it would be interesting to see the difference in readings between Jerusalem and the Dead Sea (1200 meters difference in elevation, Jerusalem being 800 meters above sea level and the Dead Sea 400 below).

user234239
that would be very interesting - I did tests for 700m, 120m and 80m above sea level

user234239
similar accuracy

Pollution would also be very different - busy city vs open area (and they are only 30-40 minutes drive away from each other)
@UV-D field trip!

user234239
that is a field trip I would love to do

user234239

@UV-D oh, happy birthday!

user234239
thank you muchly!

11:41 AM
@Bart: I am happy about my latest thread. It finally made me realize meta is a pretty useless site to honestly discuss problem one may have. There must be some other way to do so...
people telling -10-15 is unusual, and it got -7 in no time. :D
very unusual ...

12:03 PM
Congrats on the paper @UV-D.
Now get it published
or was this final revision?

and please anyone here: do not tell me ever again to go to meta. I simply will not. Let me know if the infrastructure can provide a better alternative, and I will try that out if it is good enough for a replacement.

12:24 PM
I am pretty sure if someone else would ask my questions with the same content, they would get different votes, and feedback.
which makes the site subjective to me, which is not what an objective person is looking for.

12:35 PM
so, since no one has answered this in the thread, why is meta more emotional than stack overflow? I.e. why does the same people get high upvotes for pretty much anything they write, and certain new users full of downvotes in a huge amount?

Mat
12:51 PM
Some meta users have excellent communication skills for that medium. Some new users don't bother searching at all before posting. Same as on the main site. Meta's not noob-unfriendly at all.

@Mat: then why did I get 12 downvotes in 1-2 hours?
for an honest and sincere question without duplication.
@Bart: I think your comments are now obsolete, but I do not have more flags to mark them so. I think it would be useful if you could remove that.
@Mat: or you call -10-12 votes within 1-2 hours noob-friendly whatever noob means here?

Mat
You're not a noob on meta.

@Mat: so what is so awfully bad in my question that deserves 10-12 downvotes within 1-2 hour, provided people say that is very unrare, so it has to be an outstandingly bad questions, but why is that?
@Mat: are you a moderator?

Mat
I didn't say your post deserves anything. I read it, and honestly I don't see what you're getting at. The two posts you cite (a -2 on main and your other question) aren't really anything special. Remember meta votes a lot based on agreement/disagreement with the topic exposed. If you don't make your case properly, and people don't see the same problems (or propose something people don't like), you'll get downvotes. Live with them.
No, I'm not a mod anywhere.

@Mat: I explicitly explained that it was -5 at worst on SO
that is quite unusual for an answer and action from the maintainers of the software. Well, it should be quite unusual.
the other got 13
this one got 12
@Mat: the topic has two ways of feedback: yes/no. It was a question. I do not understand how it can be turned into as a useless and rubbish question, and if so moderators can always delete, etc.
I think there is some huge problem ongoing on meta, and I will not be the user of it in the future.

Q: How to search for questions and answers between two users?

6 upvotes in an hour, come on ......

Mat
1:03 PM
You need to work on the way you present your case, as I said earlier. I don't think there's a huge problem on meta at all.

Q: Ach Integration

pritamI have tried to Integrate ACH Process with post method. The response is returned via XML and doesn't returns response type and response code. Could Anybody had tried it before in Code Igniter?

Mat
What's wrong with that question?

-8 within 1-2 hours without ANY explanation.
well, it is now just 5.

Mat
The offtopic close reason is enough for that one.

seriously, it is almost as mine, and mine is not even close to close reason.
anyway, I think I will go through and balance such threads now.
gave +1 for that, so it is only -7

Mat
1:05 PM
What? The ACH Integration question is miles off-topic. The other one you quoted is a perfectly valid meta question.

in YOUR opinion.

Mat
Seriously?

Laszlo, are you serious?
The ACH integration is clearly a programming question, and has no place whatsoever on Meta.
> Could Anybody had tried it before in Code Igniter?

that does not mean it deserves -20 millions.

Q: I propose one common website for all Stack Exchange sites

@LaszloPapp I'm not planning on deleting anything. Flag if you must.
And when you can

1:09 PM
@Bart: what is the point of keeping obsolete negative posts around?
what purpose do they serve?

@LaszloPapp people ending up those kinds of questions on Meta are usually trying to circumvent a question ban on the main site. That's why they are being so aggressively voted on.

to make sure the obsolete negativity can generate more downvotes?

@LaszloPapp because it's making a suggestion, and the community violently opposes the suggestion. It's how voting on Meta is supposed to work.

who cares what meta wants. I will not anymore.

well, that's your prerogative

1:12 PM
I mean seriously, an obsolete stuff is not removed when flagged
then other comments are not removed when politely asking others which are guaranteed to be not valid anymore.
it is ridiculous

@LaszloPapp sorry, I didn't follow the discussion, which post did you flag?

anyway, -40 machine is now active for a few days on meta. :D
in my question, Bart has fully obsolete comments. I do not have flags anymore for today, so I politely asked him to remove.
he wanna leave them there, which makes no sense to me other than make the thread unwieldy and guaranteing more downvotes.
-14
Q: How about a polling question?

mikeTheLiarAlright, we all know polls are bad, evil, no good, rotten garbage and they have no place on the Stack Exchange network. So someone comes along and edits it (How deleting a single tag is not considered "Too minor" when there are obvious gramatical errors all over the post is beyond me...) which...

@LaszloPapp I know it's not nice, but it's how the system is supposed to work: people express their agreement or disagreement for the suggestion. There is nothing whatsoever wrong with it, just that people don't want it implemented. Jeff Atwood himself has some hugely downvoted posts on Meta.

Q: See who handled your flag

Ty221What? I propose to add a possibility on "helpful flags" page to see who has handled that flag (what moderator/community manager). I may be shown on mouseover. Why? Because I want to see who has handled my flag and eventually contact him in that case.

ridiculous ...
@Pekka: that is fully nonsense.
if you look for a job, or anyone else looks for your name for any other reason, you will get such threads behind your back.

@LaszloPapp what exactly is nonsense?

1:18 PM
no one will really read the details, seriously.
but you will get a negative judgement for something where you wish to proceed. That is overly nonsense and destructive for people to build.

Mat
Laszlo: are you aware that others might have opinions that differ from yours, and they might not be completely wrong (at least sometimes)?

I bet many people do not even realize this.
@Mat: huh???

You mean negatively voted Meta content will affect your real-world reputation when looking for a job? That's an interesting angle.

@Mat: surely, you are side tracking, right?
@Pekka: any angle when someone looking for your name.

In that case however, you can request your name to be removed from the post. It's your right under the CC license.

Mat
1:19 PM
I see you talking and complaining a lot. I don't see you listening or taking into account anything that's being said.
4

It won't be deleted, but it will be disassociated from your account.

@Mat: be happy with that then. You seem to have stuck to that, and would not change your mind anyway.
Pekka, that does not really help when people mention your name in the comments.

Pekka, the only thing one can do is to avoid these crappy sites building bad stuff for people's life.

Although when asking for disassociation, I would be surprised if a comment clean-up request wouldn't be honoured as well.

1:21 PM
If you actually get a post disassociated from your account, and there continue to be mentions of your name in the comment, I am sure moderators will honour your request.
Ah, what Bart said

Pekka, it is totally fine to have disagreements, but since it can cause drawback for the real life, it is bad by its nature in my definition.

As said, then have the posts disassociated

I would like to live in a constructive world, where disagreements cannot cause harms.

If that worries you, don't participate or go for disassociation.

which is what I mentioned several times now .....
I will not go to that crappy stuff anymore.
stop even mentioning it to me. :)

1:23 PM
Good, problem solved.

no, it is not.

I kinda see your point, but I put it to you that if an employer doesn't hire you because of some downvoted Meta posts, you probably don't want to work for that employer in the first place.

there are threads in there, already.

@LaszloPapp then have them disassociated. God damn. Do you listen to anything we say in here?

Pekka: you are underestimating people.
they have to decide about things in a rush
a girl friend, a company, a new business partner, new music band members, etc
they do not have time to go through everything.

1:24 PM
Absolutely @probablyPekka. Unless a search reveals a terrible attitude, rudeness or continued trolling. But given that that's not the case here, I would simply stop worrying.

if they somehow get into negative reputation due to simple disagreements, and they make a harmful decision for that person, it is just simply too bad.
@Pekka: it cannot be disassociated
I asked Bart several times to disassociate me
why would I even bother further

I cannot disassociate anything. I'm not a moderator

moderators even declined my flags for fully obsolete stuff

@LaszloPapp Bart? I'm not sure whether he's even a mod

You could remove your fully obsolete stuff
you even refused

1:25 PM
You will have to ask a moderator to disassociate you from a post. That is your right as per the license.
They cannot refuse that.

so I think you are not an authoritative person to claim any disassociation

OK, I'm out of here.
Disassociation is a team / mdoerator process
It is well defined and well laid out.

@LaszloPapp. Just read the freaking license and figure it out.

Pekka: it does not require any moderator for someone to remove his/her comments. Anyone can remove own comments.

What a single user wants or doesn't want has nothing to do with it.
You are hurting your reputation much more badly with your terrible attitude, IMO.

Pekka, please stay civil, otherwise I will not read your posts. Sorry about that, but being civil is important for me.

@LaszloPapp for the last time: so have a mod disassociate your post. Problem solved.

Q: There needs to be a way to delete content or disassociate your account from said content

ShawnI know this has probably been beaten to death, but there really needs to be a way to remove yourself from posted content. I understand deleting content has its issues, but certainly you should be able to transfer something you posted to an Anonymous account. I'm really going to open myself up t...

As I said, I do not care.
I lost my interest about it for now. Even a single polite request to a user ended up in refusal for a content like this:
"Sigh ... have it your way. I'm out. I shall spend my time on better things."
I do not wanna get into trouble with anyone now about asking things politely.

So you don't care about viable solutions to your problem, but want all of Meta to change instead?
Ah well
> "Sigh ... have it your way. I'm out. I shall spend my time on better things."

do you even read what I write?

1:31 PM
That's pretty much what I'm inclined to say, too , at this point

do you know what "for now" means in there?

I'm out

thanks.

Cya @probablyPekka

@Bart yeah, see you later!

/me downvoted the last thread
upvoted*
comment left: "+1 Yes, this is important because meta people are pretty crazy about giving millions of downvotes which is not nice as a marker for a person interested in you, and doing some research. I stand the disagreement, but I do not think the person looking for you will read it from A-Z."

1 hour later…
2:36 PM
I got 5 downvotes in series
is that normal?
on stackoverflow for different answers (also for well upvoted one). Should I report it?
three of them within one minute.

if it was serial downvoting it will be reversed automatically within 24 hours

haha
nice joke, and if I downvote a person twice within a few minutes, I get a ban.
I really wonder how this system is put together, seriously.
and why stuff is targeted at me.
but if I get three in a row for three different answers, within a minute, that is alright.
and when I write to moderators, I am the one doing something wrong, and I should not worry about it, but I get banned if it is the other way around with two downvotes.
sent an email to the "team".
it is not acceptable some meta habit is getting to stackoverflow as well. That is not an emotional site.
to be honest, my three answers were even long.
it is impossible to read them all in the same minute.

2:57 PM
That looks serial-y indeed @LaszloPapp. My guess is that it will be picked up by the system. If that doesn't happen within 48 hours, flag.

flag what?

Anything really. For moderator attention. And then explain you suspect serial downvoting.

/me is lost

One of the downvoted posts would be best I guess

I cannot flag a downvote for moderator attention!

2:59 PM
You can flag your post.

as I wrote, I already wrote to the team.
this happened last time, and it was not picked up by the system

Ah, my apologies. I missed that bit

the moderator team did not act, but told me to send a new request if it was happening again, well it happened.

Okay, good. Job done then. Sorry about that confusion.

too bad the system is so silly not to pick up such trivial serial downvotes.
