Each time I go to http://s.tk/so-fa (or similar URLs) I am seemingly randomly redirected to either to either http://stackoverflow.com/# or http://stackexchange.com/so-fa.

(Firefox caches the 301 redirect, Chrome and Safari don't.)
I thought it's suppose to be so-faq, but that won't work

See http://s.tk/meta-foo. I think it occurs for any s.tk redirect followed by - and something or nothing more.

sigh
Brown?
Hullo folks.

A question on stackexchange network is posted here. http://meta.movies.stackexchange.com/questions/843/is-jeff-the-first-one-to-implement-the-scheme-used-in-stackexchange
If anybody has good answer, you can post there.

Q: Stack Overflow clones

AndrijaListed here are clones of the Stack Exchange sites model.

@TimYiJiang, that means anybody can use this scheme?
Of course. You can't prevent others from stealing your ideas.

I'm unsure how to phrase this as a question, but I have 3 MySQL tables and I want to select from 2 of them based on the results of a select of the third one. JOIN?
Sub-queries!
Um?
I'm using PHP and PDO. Help!
Haha, I don't know what PDO is. But it sounds like sub queries would do the trick for what you're describing.
PDO is a library that does queries.
The basic idea is that you can nest queries within queries using parentheses.
06:19
@jadarnel27 Ah, I see.
Well, here's the thing.
Table 1 is users.
Table 2 is courses
Table 3 lists which courses are followed by which users.
06:54
Join the three tables together. Table 3 is your intermediate table here, so join all three of them together, and you should be able to get what you need

@jadarnel27 Beige

:o
Indeed. Only partially brown, I'm afraid.
14:49
I guess it's close enough, visually.
But it's not nearly as fun to say.
Man, I really need to get myself in gear.
I've been fairly unproductive these last few weeks.
#824D07 is a good brown

hm.. hard to choose between those two colorschemes - toilet contents vs neon-bright eye cancer
14:54
@TimYiJiang Look at all those classic gravatars!
Additional kudos to @MarcGravell and I for staying consistent.
15:12
Heigh ho neighbor.
15:24
@TimStone I can relate, I've been having some trouble with that as well.
I keep hopping back and forth between things and as a result I haven't accomplished much.
I really need to wrap up the Data Explorer MySQL port so I can be done with that.
Similarly, I have too many things to do, and it makes me not feel like doing any of them.
That would probably be helpful. Eliminating some things from the to-do list would be helpful for me as well.
shakes fist at todo list
@TimYiJiang Agreed, that's an excellent brown.
todo list is nonplussed

Well that was .. intense. A 4.5 hour interview process with 5 interviewers.
Traveled from PA to CA and back again; I was in CA for less than 24 hours and ate at Carl's Jr 3 times!
16:59
Dan Brown is a bit of an overrated Brown.
Not all browns are created equal.
@Fosco How do you think it went?
17:30
I think it went really well.. but they have incredibly high standards. Should find out within a day or two. It's an awesome team that I would love to join.
18:18
Good luck @Fosco
Thanks @Oded
I recently went through a similar process. 6 1 hour interviews... Almost all technical.
Though they were spread over 2 months and were remote. Yay Skype/Google hangouts
Wow.. Well I'm up to 6.5 hours then, counting 2 phone interviews that were an hour each a month ago..
Hope it goes as well for you as it did for me ;)
18:38
Very subtle :P
My eyes are broken. Must take break.
18:49
O... M... G... They want to talk, next Monday!! :D :D
Congrats @Fosco, and you too @Oded!
.... now it's Today!.. holy crap this stuff moves fast.
What?! Monday is Today already? Dammit, I still had stuff planned for Wednesday!
@Shog9 :)
This job must be on internet time.
In which case you already missed your meeting for today, because it's tomorrow already D:
Pffft. January 15? That's so this morning.
19:01
Thanks @mootinator and congrats @Fosco :)
I'll be sure to update the Tavern after the call today. Thanks :)

I know that I sure want to be Application Developer Designation Number 100005431.
Where do I sign up?
Bonus points for it being a position in Jersey.
@TimStone - That's a negative 100005431, though I am not sure how I would feel about 100005432.

Q: Complete IDE for developing Websites and Web Applications? Preference to debugger and code suggestions

Melvin RoestNote: English is my second language, and I'm noticing this with certain words (premise or assumption? Sounds the same to me semantically, it probably isn't). I'm trying to be quite precise, but I can't be precise to the extent that a real native could. This is a broad question. Since I realize t...

New one on me. A shopping question and answer by the OP.
21:31
@Oded well, written in good faith though. He apparently realized while writing the question that there's "good" stuff in the "related" box
Sure, but still, a shopping question that should be closed and deleted.
@Oded true, true.
22:03
Hi hi all
Is it possible for me to find my 1st chat message in the transcript easily?
@Oded Closed by the Tavern. I'm not sure if that's a good thing.
22:25
ponders whether he really needs to have 9 credit cards with a $0 balance.
Update: They are making a formal offer shortly via email. They all enjoyed chatting with me and think I'd be a great fit. Holy ****.
I think people should be able to write questions about what to use, but they need to be very specific. Of course, you have a batch of people who think that specific questions are localized, but that's another issue.
Bad: I want an IDE for Java
Good: I want a Hello Kitty branded IDE for Java

...that meows when I get an error.
22:38
lol
The funny thing about shopping questions is, Jeff wrote up like half a blog post on how to ask them right... and it's almost never referenced.
who wrote the other half?
Ah.. That's a really good post.
lots of good comments on that one, there needs to be slack for people looking for the right software tools. (Not saying the question Oded referenced above was worth keeping, but I didn't take the time to read the whole thing).
22:55
@DanielFischer - In this case, I think it is a good thing.
@Fosco - Excellent. Glad they all liked you :)
@Oded That it's closed undoubtedly is. That it was closed only by Tavern dwellers may not be. I don't know.
Programmers is what originally was envisioned to handle software tool recommendations (among other things); that was one of the disappointments in it's repurposing; that now it's hard to ask those questions.
Now it's a mere training ground for those Nazi sympathizing moderators.
Which reminds me, I haven't visited my room lately.
