What's the best canonical to link to for "if your question gets downvoted/closed, don't delete it and repost a copy of it"?

5:23 AM
@JosephSible-ReinstateMonica hmm
@JosephSible-ReinstateMonica we have a mod message for that that refers back to the help pages...

@JosephSible-ReinstateMonica Related: Dodging downvotes by deletion and repost on MSO
Also possibly helpful Is it OK to repost deleted answers as new answers? (although that one is about answers not questions)
Actually both are about answers, but they still might be useful

Hmm, one of those is at -6, and the other two specifically say "answers", not "questions"
I was trying to address someone's objection of the form "how was I supposed to know that I wasn't supposed to do that?", and it seems to be harder than I expected. I'm kind of surprised there's nothing in the Help Center that says that

@JosephSible-ReinstateMonica well the question's gonna get downvoted
the answer is +17

8:39 AM
@PM2Ring hehe think he fixed the typo now. Cars? lol

9:00 AM
Owl found.
In case someone wondered why he disappeared.
Isekai/Spirited Away.

@SPArcheon does he play the... keyboard?

@JourneymanGeek Apparently a guitar. I will let you know if at any point he raises any grammar/spelling related argument.

9:30 AM
@JourneymanGeek hmm? Why keyboard?

:D
@ShadowWizardChasingStars look at the name
Dvorak (listen) is a keyboard layout for English patented in 1936 by August Dvorak and his brother-in-law, William Dealey, as a faster and more ergonomic alternative to the QWERTY layout (the de facto standard keyboard layout). Dvorak proponents claim that it requires less finger motion and as a result reduces errors, increases typing speed, reduces repetitive strain injuries, or is simply more comfortable than QWERTY.Dvorak has failed to replace QWERTY as the most common keyboard layout, with the most oft pointed to reason being QWERTY was popularized 60 years prior to Dvorak's creation and Dvorak...

@SPArcheon I prefer Dworkin
@JourneymanGeek as usual, never heard of that. :D
Guess there are thousands of keyboard layouts, how you know this one?? lol

@ShadowWizardChasingStars Its something people are passionate about

@JourneymanGeek those few who know it, sure.

Sure
and frankly it might be a good thing you don't know, its a terrible joke :D

9:37 AM
@JourneymanGeek huh? Joke? Looks like something real from the summary, let me read...
ewwwwwww
Wikipedia design is now awful.
@JourneymanGeek can't find anything saying it's a joke, so quite confused.

@ShadowWizardChasingStars the charecter @SPArcheon linked is called Dvorak :D

Anyway @Journeyman maybe better add comment here explaining why you deleted?
You can copy my comment if you want. ;)

@ShadowWizardChasingStars converted to comment actually

@JourneymanGeek oh lol didn't notice because it has huge image, so it's useless and pointless as comment, just noise.

9:43 AM
@ShadowWizardChasingStars its the 'right' kinda noise

And of course it still happening, it was never fixed. :D

it lets people who look that its not fixed

So how often should we post "still not fixed" comments? Daily, Weekly, Monthly?
I vote "never".

No idea :D

That's not the purpose of comments.

9:45 AM
But I think a reminder sometimes isn't bad

Not bad, just noise.

1 hour later…
11:42 AM
@JourneymanGeek looks like this backlog taking longer for some reason... hopefully just longer and not "over".

@ShadowWizardChasingStars \o/
I'll chew on what I can :D

hehe found something funny!
hmm
> Lucovsky has stated that Steve Ballmer, on being informed that Lucovsky was about to leave Microsoft for Google, picked up a chair and threw it across his office, hitting a table.
> Lucovsky also described Ballmer as saying: "Fucking Eric Schmidt is a fucking pussy. I'm going to fucking bury that guy, I have done it before, and I will do it again. I'm going to fucking kill Google," then resumed trying to persuade Lucovsky to stay at Microsoft.
> Ballmer has described this as a "gross exaggeration of what actually took place."
Developer of Windows NT ^
@forestdistrustsStackExchange that's also a Real Programmer? ^^
BTW @Eleeza is your avatar generated by your real picture, or just something random?

@ShadowWizardChasingStars Oh no lol I drew it, the pose is from an old photo of me but I drew myself how I look now

1:15 PM
@EleezatheOtherWorldWizard huh, very nice! You can surely start a business of generating avatars, it's very good quality and realistic. ;)

1:44 PM

2:07 PM
@ShadowWizardChasingStars heh thanks ^_^; though I’ve never tried doing commissioned art before…

2:26 PM
@EleezatheOtherWorldWizard just keep that in mind, in case you'll need some extra work. :D

@ShadowWizardChasingStars Hahah, perhaps in the future…for now I’ve just got studying…and drawing whatever I feel like I guess

@EleezatheOtherWorldWizard that's the best, sure, without any pressure. :)

2:46 PM
@tripleee already flagged :/

2:58 PM
hmm @Mith have you kapoofed it?

nope, was already gone when I went to flag

@Mithical wonder who then! :D
Possibly

Well partially
It was up when i flagged it

Well no chance site mod nuked it.
Small site mods usually don't touch spam as far as I can see. It always wait for six flags.
Reasons are beyond me, and beyond my powers to affect it.
And some mods visited the site today, so could clearly see the spam, yet nada. As if they don't think it should be deleted.
Maybe add "What is Spam" to mandatory moderator guide?

@ShadowWizardChasingStars there's usually less

3:06 PM
@JourneymanGeek less what?

+ personally I've gotten into and stay in the habit of flagging
spam

@JourneymanGeek it's one spam post that was up for long hours. I don't understand what you mean.
There was no terrible wave.

With all the advancements in software development, apps could be much better. Why aren’t they?

@JourneymanGeek of course, not talking about you or anyone else who is here, everyone here are well of spam and handle it fine on sites they moderate. However there are still about 170 (?) other sites, with mods that appear to be oblivious to spam.
Not the end of the world, but it does result in spam lasting for hours instead of minutes on most SE sites.
@Feeds programmers becoming worse and more lazy, and onebox broken as usual, marking Isaac Lyman as someone who is not him.
Need to wait for a Featured post to see if that's really how the real author does show up.

3:22 PM
@Journeyman hammer time! Pretty sure this one was posted already yesterday or few days ago, same words.

@ShadowWizardChasingStars yes it was
tbh I think I'll let the community deal with it - its MOSTLY the same

@JourneymanGeek it will just get downvoted to oblivion again and deleted. So only third time will result in the hammer? The only result of those are wasting the time of the people who have to read it (again) and downvote.

@ShadowWizardChasingStars It was hammered the last time I think

@JourneymanGeek duh
That's why they re-posting it.

@ShadowWizardChasingStars though "no" seems like a possible answer
also - uh, considering employee turnover, no one might remember if it had been discussed in the early early days

3:30 PM
In case you hungry, off topic question to chew on.
Almost closed.

taken care of

why everything has to be so inconsistent when sharepoint is somehow involved??

because every time a new integration is created the entire system is changed

I have spent hours trying to understand how I am supposed to make uriQuery() work with an url that contains special characters to no avail.
Encode? The error message tells me it needs an uri and shows me an encoded url.
Don't encode? The error message tells me it needs an uri and STILL shows me an encoded url.
seems almost a bug, but obviously no one on the web seems to mention anything relevant.
it is xkcx 979 as usual

Nevermind, i fixed it

5:31 PM
Be sure to create QA Pair for the problem to stop the cycle

5:54 PM
@KevinB I can post a question and no one will vote or answer as usual.

today
but once you solve it you can post an answer, then years from now it might receive an upvote
at that point, you'll know it was you, who broke the cycle
