That was amusing.
I looked up a question over breakfast on my phone, figured I'd take a look, and it was closed (with good reason) downvoted(with good reason) then self deleted... after I dug it out and while I was reading it :D

@Glorfindel, what happens to your answer after the question title is changed; might need a tweak.

@Rob the app is using API, so it's still correct in a sense...

And there's no fixes on the app - but app fixen can be API side...
:D

@Rob thanks, changed.

@Glorfindel @Met Thanks, I reopened too; as originally I'd closed on the canonical for the APPs.

Israel became a sandbox.
@Rob thanks
@JourneymanGeek yeah this one was on the API side.

Rob
@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard Glad to hear that the shelling is paused, instead the tensions are heating up in North America; no shelling yet, but many large protests for each side.

12:39 PM
@Rob paused is nice way to put, yeah. It's obvious it will happen again, only matter of time. Didn't see about North America yet, will check. You in there too?

Rob
"in there", well, you actually have to go and attend a rally to be in there - and there's no social distancing - essentially you are going to a potential riot. So, no; I don't go to those things.

@Rob glad to hear. :)

Rob
One source is TOI, who wrote a very tiny article a few minutes ago.

@Rob well, personally it hurts the most when such things come from within. There always was hate from the outside, and I can see and understand their point of view. But when you're inside and yet want to destroy your own house? Can't really understand.

12:57 PM
@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard Hatred and bigotry... don't need to make sense
They mostly need an excuse

Rob

@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard It's a complex issue, probably one which outsiders are best not to comment on, but it seems to stem from the division of people by ethnicity and their expulsion from countries which supported the opposing side. The wearing of the key around the neck for half a century: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/…

@Rob well - in israel sure... other countries... uh...
Sometimes less so
Cause there's been outbreaks of violence in the US and elsewhere which seem to have been pretty much "beat up the person who looks different" and not necessarily to do with this

Rob
Not everyone is a redneck or graduate of the university of Podunk - frequently there's a reason nowadays.

1:47 PM
@Rob not necessarily, and its not just an 'american' problem

2:01 PM
@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard it's just getting married

Rob
It's difficult to search for recent US news that doesn't seem to support one side over the other, to show photographs of one side with many protestors and the other side with relatively sparse crowds; perhaps it's due to the funding issue, and a lack of support for government policies - otherwise I'd direct you to an image of a protest with two sides depicted, showing a crowd of a balanced makeup of various people - but no USA based sources exist, the TOI agrees, so off to the UK:

@Mithical huh? lol

@Rob what about it?
@Mithical LOL

Many companies run parallel development and operations organizations. But what you just ran one team that did both?

2:15 PM
@Feeds Thanks for giving me a heart attack.

🚽

rather likes the way SE does things in that respect

"But what you just ran one team that did both?"

@Feeds perfect diversity in the image, but woman has weird smile.

@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard not really 'perfect'

2:17 PM
@JourneymanGeek How not? White, Black, Woman.

@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard ....
grumbles

there's entire continents forgotten

Well can't put too many, it's a small space and there's COVID

too many laptops

2:19 PM
THEN WHY ARE THEY SITTING TOO CLOSE TOGETHER MASKLESS?

Also (according to some people, I’m not here to debate whether this is true or not) there’s more genders than just male and female

@JourneymanGeek Vaccinated

@JourneymanGeek they’re in the US and vaccinated

@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard or so they want us to think
But yeah, that's a very narrow view of perfect diversity

@EkadhSingh true but hard to draw that, or see in images, it's more or less private info

2:20 PM
With the fire in the background how are they not burning to death (I think that’s fire in the background)

Can't hide color of skin, so that's what's being used in public.

@EkadhSingh this is fine

@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard True
@JourneymanGeek :D

@JourneymanGeek meh, "as perfect as it can be in a drawing showing three developers". Happy now? ;)

"Vaguely diverse" works
perfect
meeeeeh
AND THIS IS A PERFECTLY GOOD HILL I AM ON.

2:23 PM
@EkadhSingh no fire, just bright colors

looks like fire and sparks

That sir, appears to be... a cat...

Yup
With big eyes
Hence tagged "big" ;)
(command to show it asked for cats tagged "big")
Sadly, no cats tagged @Zoe :(

left on the wrong side when the split happened, eh

Unfortunately.
I'm sure MSO has a good canonical for that one, though.

@Feeds Drawn from real life:

I wonder if SE employees can see who stars messages

@EkadhSingh SQL query

@EkadhSingh Those who have DB access.

@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard what does SQL stand for

@EkadhSingh ._.
Structured Query Language

4:12 PM
but in this case they mean raw database access

Standard Query Language... query?
Like... ATM machine...

not quite the same

@MetaAndrewT. also "SQL" is... imprecise

Standard Query Language query works; it's a query in that language (which includes the word Query in the middle).

4:14 PM
since it refers to a series of dialects of database query languages
(And I'm in a very pedantic mood)

I'm in a very sleepy mood though :/

@MetaAndrewT. you're excused. For now. :D
Anyway I was wrong, looks like it's accessible maybe even for everyone, just matter of looking in correct place.

A: I'm seeing stars! (I can see who starred a message and so can you)

balphaI have always considered stars to not be secret (they aren't secret on the Q&A sites either, where they're called "favorite"). I can see how some people make that assumption though, since we don't really show "who starred this" in a dedicated UI, mostly because, well, we never created such a thin...

The data is there, just not being displayed, or so it seems from this answer.

@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard IIRC they removed that at some point

> I've added "message starred" to the list of event types for which we don't send the user id to the client.
IOW, that way of looking to see who starred things was removed.

Yeah, but it's still there.
Might be available via some undocumented GET request.

4:26 PM
On one hand, there's probably a purpose for a privilege to see who stars what (e.g. star troll), but on the other hand.......... thank goodness it's not there now.

4 hours later…
8:39 PM
One million user IDs on this site as of today.
