@Hans1984 Huh. If I got stuck with no wifi, I'd begin gathering supplies to make camp. Then I'd start looking for a river, and bark. Then some moss, and then dry wood to make a fire. Then I'd try to find some kind of a ledge, could be as small as 8 feet tall, and make camp against that. Then I'd go and catch some fish at the river I find. Rivers and creeks aren't too difficult to find. I'll drink after filtering it through bark just in case I don't know the geographic of the local area.
And filter the water just to be safe. And then I'd cook the fish in the fire, and sleep. Then I'd take the essentials that I had collected and venture off in the direction I think best, looking for civilization. It should be apparent that I find civilization eventually in a single direction, and if I hit the shore, I could follow it until I reach a costal civilization.
But that's jsut me, having been in survival situations and also learning about survival necessities. My father also taught me much of what I know because he was in the Navy, so he knows all of those survival tactics. What area was that forest? Is there a bear hazard? Are there... any dangerous wildlife there?? If so, that would definitely change the course of action I'd take. For bears, not much. For cougars etc. I'd need an enclosed camp with a fire of some sort.
But, Cougars and other ferocious big wild cats would be a very unlucky situation, as they can often be the most dangerous in the wild in a certain area, unless you're in an area where there are other aggressive animals. Bears won't attack you unless you pose a threat to their cubs. Cougars will attack you to eat you. Very clear difference.
