@AnnZen That means that "what was written in the prior message addressed your complaint", afterwards the person 'pushed the close button' and another automatic message was sent saying that the Ticket was closed - it's orthogonal to what you desire as an outcome, unless you are successful.

@Rob Funny, I didn't receive any prior message...

Rob
You can re-open on that basis.

@Rob that's wearing a snake

Rob
Check spam bin in your email.
Snearing a wake?

@AnnZen sound like the canned helpdesk message when the ticket is closed. We also use something similar in my workplace.
@AnnZen you sent email to that address manually?

whoosh

@ShadowWizardWearingMask yes

@Rob I miss Frank... :/
@AnnZen no link to the ticket history in the helpdesk site?

Rob
Were you frank with him?

@Rob no, he was a tree.
Think he changed avatar based on seasons, even. :D

ah, Frank the tree...

4:10 PM
What other Frank exists?
;)

@ShadowWizardWearingMask Frank the robot!

@Rob last name doesn't count. My first name is common as a last name too.
@MetaAndrewT. that's fbueckert. Also disqualified. :P

@ShadowWizardWearingMask Just checked. Only automated responses.

Rob
You didn't say if it was a first or last name, and I suspect that Frank did not either, you only said "he" was a tree (was, not is).
Is he still a tree?

4:14 PM
@AnnZen well, I'm afraid I can't have a real reply, also don't know the history between you and SE staff. I think that replying to the email will reopen the ticket, did you try it?
@Rob his status is unknown

Rob
Dormancy

Hopefully... this leaves some hope...

Rob
Doorman, see?

Rob
4:32 PM

@Rob sure, but his last MSE activity was April 2017.
Since then... Poof.
But he still holds a major Den record.
#1 in WPD, with no less than 900.

Rob
I think I saw contact info ...

Meh, I won't nudge people out of SE for no good reason.
(except @Res on Twitter ;))

4:47 PM
Can someone rollback this edit?

@AnnZen For what reason?
You can edit your answer to account for that edit if you'd like.

Because the OP didn't put any indication that there was an update, and I already have an answer to its previous version.

Rob
I didn't think it invalidates your answer, nor is what is proposed any better; polishing a ....

;)

Then can someone add an "UPDATE:" line to the post?

Rob
4:54 PM
You can, why us? - Flag is available for complaints, and coming here to avoid flagging is discouraged.

EDIT: No, please no "UPDATE"-thingy...

Rob

Probably Ollie's problem is that they don't understand mouse acceleration settings or how to mouse. Flick, click, pull. Fini.

Eh, not everyone can handle really fast mouses.
They make me scream.

@ShadowWizardWearingMask ROFL

Rob
The acceleration setting controls how far it moves based on how fast you move it; not really anything to do with the mouse being "fast".

@Rob Yeah, but in summary and without technical bladiblah.... that's controlling how fast your mouse pointer goes ;)
Have you ever had to do tech support for a parent? ;)

Rob
Move the mouse fast and it moves way further than you move your hand (so you don't go off the edge of the mouse pad). Move the mouse slowly and it should crawl pixel by pixel.
Similarly, assuming you have it set up, click a button and use the scroll wheel to zoom the page; so you can click on the hair of a Gnat.

5:23 PM
I'm not sure what's turned on and what not on my PC.
it runs Chrome and Netflix :D

Rob
End of story. :)

Not really. It can also run Discord and a game or two ;)

Rob
But can it run Crisis?

@Rob sounds like your computer may have some bugs!

@Rob Don't know, you tell me ;)

5:25 PM
Oh my gosh I haven't seen the Crisis meme in a long time

Rob
We doubt it. ;)

There's the specs... have at it ;)

the polsband kills it ...

What can I say...

Rob
Crisis 2 - rated "Mature" by YouTube.

5:29 PM
My brother insisted that one was necessary and we couldn't just use the 'stopcontact'.

Rob
Should be able to, though not at maximum settings.

That's good enough, you asked if it could run it, not if it could run it well :P

The fact that modern PCs can still not run that game at maximum settings is hilarious

Did you just call mine 'modern' ?

5:38 PM

Now I want one too.

5:53 PM
@Rob I can?

Rob
@Tinkeringbell Safer than running Crisis:

It would probably definitely keep the PC cooler, unless filled with boiling water.

Rob

Rob
@Tinkeringbell I believe the joke that Feeds is making is that the trombone hasn't been drained since the '90's:

6:11 PM
@Rob Blegh yuk. Yeah I know about that, I'm going to stick with just a built in supersoaker.

Rob
📯
@Tinkeringbell Either could put you in the ho-spital.

Blergh!!! I'd rather stay out of that, especially with COVID still being transmitted by aerosols!

Rob
6:43 PM

6:57 PM
Yeah I can't particularly see why that's a good thing. There's even adverts for Disneyland Paris on TV again, though they do come with a disclaimer that's only there for so short it took me watching that advert 10 times then pausing it to read it: it says the advert doesn't reflect the current social distancing guidelines and thus not the full Disney experience .. or something XD

Rob
Worse, most recent reports say testing isn't as accurate as they first thought; with many negative tests later becoming positive. Couldn't find an authoritative links that really spells it out. Just links that spell it out but the website isn't authoritative, or sites with more creditably that aren't quite as clear:

Evacuate, evacuate!!! Women and children first!

parrots can fly out
I am a plant and thus unaffected by human viruses

Even so, to avoid the air getting too crowded: Women and children first!

@Rob PCR tests are very accurate in general, but the timing is important. It takes a bit after being infected until virus levels are high enough

Rob
7:06 PM

@Rob Your ability to give other things attention ;)

Rob
@MadScientist The best tests can be 100% accurate, subject to various practical problems; the better tests are slow and expensive:

Ah, sciency numbers. I'm out.

@Rob As far as I understand, the kind of test that is reported in the statistics is pretty much all PCR tests

Rob
Then those who relied on other testing wouldn't be reported, but still wander around as-is spreading or not.

7:16 PM
Those are extremely specific, and while they're also very sensitive, the sensitivity is also determined by the process of taking the sample, and if that isn't done properly they can be false negatives.

7:28 PM
As far as I know, it's some antibody tests from specific companies (there are now loads) that have been accused of not being accurate.
Which seems to be supported by those numbers.
Oh wow. 5-13 minutes for a PCR-"like" test! What the hell are they using!?

Rob
The DxSeq researchgate.net/publication/… by salislab.net does more per day, but I don't think it's certified.

7:53 PM
@terdon As far as I remember, those don't use PCR, but some amplification method that doesn't need thermal cycles

2 hours later…

I noticed a post removed for reasons of moderation. But I was still able to view the post. Should I post about it on meta?
:8470805 yes, but that is different from a deleted post. I'm talking about this.

maybe some caching weirdness, since you have the rep to see deleted posts on main
well
you know what i mean

10:19 PM
Should I?

you have the rep to see deleted posts on main, but don't have access to it due to the suspension. meta's privileges are based on main's rep, but it doesn't seem to always be in sync.

Can you see the post?

yes

That means low rep users can too now.

i have 90k rep on so

10:50 PM
How happy are we this happy hour?

Currently it's a sad hour.

:(

Hi @Daniil, @RobertColumbia it was quite nice to see so many people quickly detect this spam while I was asleep:
Did it have something to do with SmokeDetector?

@user1271772 do you mean this one : mattermodeling.stackexchange.com/questions/1515/… ? Yes, that was a SD report.

Precisely.
Thanks guys.
I wouldn't have caught it, because I was asleep!

@user1271772 yvw! Glad we could help

Smokey's the bomb.
!!/blame

@Spevacus It's ArtOfCode's fault.

11:10 PM
Factual

Rob
They were awarded simultaneously, so it's a fair guess; a correct one too.

!!/blame

@user1271772 It's DavidPostill's fault.

Eh, David's mostly harmless. :)

@user1271772 metasmoke.erwaysoftware.com/post/253558 this was the SD report.

11:17 PM
Basically they were trying to advertise a spam website in their answer.

Yeppers. If there's a textbox on the internet, someone's gonna put spam in it. - ArtOfCode

Rob
@user1271772 It was automatically detected because of: "Bad ip for hostname in answer, bad ns for domain in answer, bad keyword in answer, bad keyword in link text in answer, blacklisted website in answer, +3 more (434)". - with that high a score it's going to get hit

I dunno about that one ^

user707129
@user1271772 Yes, @RobertColumbia explained correctly

@Daniil hi
