Is it the one where the house is already so far on fire yet they're still arguing that a controlled burn down and saving the house nearby is not worth it?
an important part of the current state of american political activism is it pushes back against the militarisation of police, and a certain lack of practical checks on them
@Tinkeringbell Well - that's one narrative. But that also ignores the fact that typically these things are triggered off by violence and there's a significant number of folks who arn't
and there's evidence some but not all of it is staged - cops slashing tyres for example
@JourneymanGeek Oh, I know. Still. I grew up with "Repay no one evil for evil". And I like the protection that rule offers enough to keep it up, even as a heathen.
@JourneymanGeek Same chapter, a few lines further: "Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it[a] to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”". :P
What's that like, actually, having more than one? Is it practical, because if one hates you you can just pick another, or is like having to do the weekly groceries at three shops because no single one has all of it?
I don't believe in bothering the divine over petty things, and expect if you're an omnipotent entity, you ought to know what's needed, else what's the point
You have an RNG that gives you N from 1 to 10. You guess a number and keep trying the RNG. There are two possibilities: Either you always get the number wrong, and are inclined to assume the RNG is broken, you're "unlucky", whatever, or you get the number right, and you start assuming good things, like life is gonna smile at me, I'm lucky, I'm smart, whatever.
Neither of those assumptions are true, of course. But we like bending the reality the way we like when we're too lazy to think straight
@Tinkeringbell my house always got stash of chocolate and snacks.... Friend of my son was literally speechless when he was asked to choose something. ;)
