@Mithical Reconsiders
@Later I'm afraid this discussion has clearly outlived its fruitfulness so I will have to stop engaging with you.
> It has been a very difficult couple of weeks for the Black Community and our Black colleagues. So I want to start this post by reaffirming what we shared publicly this past weekend: We must work together to end systemic racism. We stand in solidarity with our Black employees and with the Black community. Black lives matter. In this post, I am sharing some next steps that Stack Overflow is taking in order to leverage our place as an indispensable tool to the tech community in order to enact positive change.
Well, I should maybe just be naturally, perhaps unfairly, be skeptical about the honest intentions of such actions from a company that has nothing to do with what triggered the events or what will stop them in the hopeful future
That's a minute of my life I'm not getting back
I guess $ is $ though, with any sorts of intentions
While we're at it, maybe donate to Notre Dame

@JohnDvorak to be honest, other users, much more active and veteran here, were chat banned for much less. Just saying.
And now to what @Tink asked for, even if not knowing she asked for it....
I call it "The Drawer" ^

That is at the grocery?

And this isn't in its full capacity, it used to contain more stuff.
@rene lol no, my home.
It was all bought from grocery, at some point. :D

Wow

Also it used to be a total mess, I organized it about a week ago. Kids make sure order doesn't prevail. ;)
(each goes to the drawer and take one thing, once or twice a day.)

@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance To be honest, when I still lived with my parents between me and my dad we did eat all the cookies my mom bought from the weekly market. That was in the 1 hour after she returned home. My mom only watched and said at the end: "This was the cookie alotment for the whole week."
Yes, we had such a "drawer" at our place. It stayed empty that week.

7:27 AM
@rene lol! Well, luckily my wife is much more strict and won't allow such things. :D
@M.A.R. heh. Maybe scan user avatars, and give +50 bonus to those who... answer certain criteria.

If the work infrastructure fails miserably and you can't connect with anything you need for work, it's okay to start playing animal crossing, right?

@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance No.

@Tinkeringbell No.
@Mithical No.

@Tinkeringbell Yes.

7:29 AM
@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance nO.

@M.A.R. .oN
@Tinkeringbell doesn't the game require internet connection?

@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance As a kid, I'm offended!
I only mess up my own room
Never the living room
Looks around My chair is surrounded by trash

@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance It's the work stuff that's broken, not the internet ;)
I settled for tea time though

@Tinkeringbell How convenient squints

Thank the Russians!
All hail Putin :D

Ugh. I completely overslept again.
I was having a strange dream about ducklings living in my yard.

Because of the Putin icon?
He's hypnotizing

no

@Mithical I wish my dreams were pleasant
I haven't had any pleasant dreams lately

I rarely dream in the first place, and this duck thing was completely out of the blue

7:48 AM

good goose, take them out

@Mithical It's a swan

@M.A.R. not my kid! ;)
@M.A.R. actually The Drawer is part on the kitchen.

@M.A.R. technicalities

@Tinkeringbell so fix it instead of slacking! :D
@Tinkeringbell Sting?
Good song. ;)
Still relevant... anti war song.
@Mithical more likely you don't remember your dreams.
Think we all dream always, but rarely remember our dreams. No?
@M.A.R. how many dreams you remember? Any tips?

8:01 AM
@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance Not my job ;) But it's fixed already. Some days, I dislike competent people :P

8:09 AM
@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance You might be able to hoard some stuff so you can survive until you found another thing? :P

@Tinkeringbell nah it doesn't freeze well, plus my freezer is already full. And in fridge it can survive about a month only.
Guess I'll buy a couple today, to say goodbye properly...

meta.stackexchange.com/q/349240/369802 < Still a bug, or support?

@πάνταῥεῖ not really, there's still a bug that the chat profile links to deleted account.
When account is deleted, it should also delete associated chat profiles.

Switching to different parent site is a workaround.

@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance Not necessarily.
Unless the entire network account is deleted the chat account should stay.

8:57 AM
@Mithical well yeah it gets complicated on SE domain, so maybe auto switch parent site to the oldest account.
Still, link to parent site leading to Page Not Found is.... not expected.
(and of course the side effect of not being able to chat.)
BTW, the stuff posted here isn't random, it's Ethereum transaction.

@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance brews a cup of Latte for @ShadowKeepsSocialDistance

@Tink interesting, when you delete your avatar jumps to the front as if you posted a message.
It can be used to identify who delete stuff... worthy of a feature request?

@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance Drop it is drop it, at some point that means delete it because otherwise people keep thinking whatever they're doing is okay, or even if it's not okay they still have their messages here ;)

@Tinkeringbell agree in general, but those last messages were just a good bye, without mentioning any past events directly.
Kind of slamming the door when leaving, and you just took the door away. :D

@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance yeah, I have seen that before. It is sub-optimal. Same goes for SE staff that steps in to moderate

10:02 AM
I don't mind too much as long as Shadow doesn't shout it across the room :P
I wonder how many people really know without others telling them. And the easy workaround is just saying 'no' before deleting stuff :P
@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance We don't slam doors here, do we?

Slams door shut so nobody can escape ...

That's a different door :P
And I don't know if you want to be in the same room as me without lunch! So you better open that door fast so I can go have some :P

10:27 AM
Yeah, that sounds bad ...

10:45 AM
@rene yeah well that's less of a problem. In a crowded room in tense situation, it's not good if they all know what mod deletes something, it shouldn't be public info.
If it's staff, well, less friction.
@Tinkeringbell TINK DELETED A MESSAGE!
Like this? ;)

Hahaha like that, yeah :P

lol
@Tinkeringbell only because there are no doors left..... :D
(which pose bit of a problem in the toilets...... ;))

Of course. I was expecting the toilets.

@Tinkeringbell why? Noisy stomach? :P

Horrible temper :P

10:48 AM
Oh, like me without a dessert.
Must get my sugar after every meal.
(or during, like today: had iced coffee while eating my pita.)

Hi , welcome to Meta!
I'm not sure which search brought you here but the problem you describe will not be answered on this specific site. To get an answer from users that have the expertise about the topic of your question you'll have to find and then re-post on the [proper site](https://stackexchange.com/sites). Check [How do I ask a good question](/help/how-to-ask) and [What is on topic](/help/on-topic) on the *target* site to make sure your post is in good shape. Your question is definitely off-topic on [Meta](/help/whats-meta) and is better deleted here.
Use /help for how-to-ask and the whats-meta link too ;)

I'd like to have SmokeDetector privileges. Can you add me to the list, or inform the charcoal maintaners to do so please. I already have done a request in the [Charcoal HQ Chat](https://chat.stackexchange.com/rooms/11540/charcoal-hq).

Don't ping the world please
I'm not even involved in SD, and now that you have done it the "right way" you could wait

@JourneymanGeek Well, sorry. I've been advised to request the room owners as well.

Which makes no sense?

in Charcoal HQ on The Stack Exchange Network Chat, 15 mins ago, by tripleee
won't hurt; I don't remember off-hand if they have a similar poliy

@πάνταῥεῖ in SOCVR you need to, yes, because privs in SOCVR require both Charcoal and RO approval
but... maybe not all of them :P

11:59 AM
I just realized that now. Sorry for the many pings again.

I mean, shog literally pointed the SD team at me for input cause I WAS NOTORIOUSLY GROUCHY ABOUT the whole thing.

I remember that journey

The big lewauski :)

@JourneymanGeek Notoriously grouchy? You? How can this possibly be?!

3:26 PM
@Rubiksmoose uh
I insist on doing things the old fashioned way
You can get a Marshall badge much more easily from smokey than the proper way

@JourneymanGeek Well now I feel insulted. I don't think Smokey has ever used any of my flags even though I gave permission a long time ago. Are my flags not good enough for you?!

Yeah I realized if, on SO for example, you just sit in the SOCVR chat, or the Fire Department, you can just flag whatever gets posted with your brain turned off
And get badges if you wanted

I mean, if it encourages people to flag spam then badges are working right? No matter if thinking is required or not, the point is to encourage behavior that is desired.

😁
@Rubiksmoose but part of the point of the badge system is engagement

3:33 PM
@JourneymanGeek [insert image of JMG mailing in his flags with a letter and stamp]
@JourneymanGeek What are you defining as engagement here?

@Rubiksmoose better have it with a ring

Actually being involved in a specific site 😁

Flagging spam is one thing, I think that's entirely fine and should definitely be actively done.
I do like seeing sites that I can actually flag on be linked here by our friend Smokey because... I mean, if it's spam, it needs to be decimated

@JourneymanGeek I think we may be talking about a couple different things here. The case of flagging actively in SOCVR and donating your flags to Smokey are two different things, yes?

But for something like sitting in SOCVR... Flagging at that point doesn't help.

3:36 PM
@Rubiksmoose I guess

Maybe I'm just missing something with SOVCR (I've never been there)

I also mostly refuse to use auto comments so it's probably mainly just me 🤣

Something something old dogs new tricks ;-)

@Rubiksmoose yes, you are missing a lot (not biased at all ....)

lol it wouldn't be the first time XD
(re me missing something)

3:39 PM
@Rubiksmoose uh. Amongst other things,I just believe a lot in the personal touch 😁

@rene Away with you! I'm here to be angry for no reason at stuff and not have my points be called out for any reasons ever!

@JourneymanGeek I'm honestly with you there. I rarely use autocomments. Even declining flags I often type in a better explanation.

@Rubiksmoose on the other hand, stuff like the smoke detector rss feeds came out of Shog putting me in touch with @ArtOfCode et al

@Spevacus you're welcome, my pleasure ;)

And that's something I use to nuke spammers 😁

3:47 PM
@Rubiksmoose Oh, hey, happy anniversary by the way!

Oh thanks! :D
I can't tell if this was the quickest or slowest year ever because of all the ... weirdness.

Both... at the same time, I guess?

That seems very on brand for 2020

I'm afraid for what happens next month, to be honest.

When the meteor hits?

3:56 PM
And we all somehow survive
Just so that next month we can endure yet another horror?
Yes.

people keep acting like hurricane season doesn't exist
i guess in a sense it doesn't for most of the country, fair

Rob
4:50 PM
@Rubiksmoose Set multiple conditions and as risky as possible. Leaving it at the default gets you scooped by all the gamblers. I have a few conditions maxed out; maybe once a year it gets a rejection (leaving a few other conditions still active), and every 3-4 months I get a Notification saying that there was an error (which I must reply to and correct) - live on the edge, to get noticed.

5:01 PM
referring to 1-2 FPs a year as risky is kind of a misnomer considering normal human good flaggers have a 1-5% decline rate
even on the most risky setting possible the autoflagging is still significantly less likely to get declined then when even the best human flagger does it by hand

Q: The Community Teams @ Stack Exchange and how we work together

Teresa DietrichI wanted to share with you about who the people that work on our Community are, and how we are organized. For context, I am the head of Product, Community, Design and Engineering, a combined Chief Product and Technology Officer. I joined the company in mid January and report directly to Prashanth...

Hm
I need to set up an announcement feed

Lol who VTC'd as unclear

🚽

I know who. Just not why 🤣

We could ask? :P
There's a whole chatroom here we could use :P

6:27 PM
I don't know who, but I do agree with them a TLDR would be nice :P

Sure but calling out people... 🤣

A list of the Community Members at Large would've been nice

@JourneymanGeek I know. You'd never do that ;)

You don't need to call them out, just whisper them out.

It was me. Awful post, just horrendous. /s

6:31 PM
My ability to vote to close was forcibly removed

Nah can we take a second and just recognize how many posts on Meta staff members have been making lately? Like look at Ham's actions, he's been constantly updating us on his progress with the CommonMark migration and addressing bug reports/requests for more info.

:shrug:
making a bunch of posts/updates doesn't necessarily translate to listening

@user400654 I do appreciate the effort anways

@user400654 and replying
@user400654 uhm no way to do this

6:47 PM
@JourneymanGeek Suspensions, vote fraud reversal...

@Mithical ask a question. Maybe you'll get lucky (but not into next week, I'm done for now)

Sure but we take away the ability to do everything in the process 🤣

Still... it's some way, not no way :P

Q: New post lock available on meta sites: Policy Lock

Teresa DietrichWe have just released a new type of post lock on meta sites called the Policy Lock. This lock can only be used by our Community Team, and when applied to a question or answer it will prevent any edits from being made to the post by anyone (including moderators) with the exception of our Community...

Amusingly I think it is the first use of this 😁

I tried to break it and edit it in any way I could. I tried to vote to close.
I suppose we could all try to spam flag it, but...

6:50 PM
I mean... ew

It seems well and truly locked.

Which is kinda the point

@JourneymanGeek i was mostly being facetious. I had plenty of rep to vote before, but as sh!t started hitting the fan 2 years ago i as forced to express my opinion and vote on meta on things i felt worthy of my votes... whch resulted in losing ~ 800 rep over 2 years

Also looks like Teresa got a diamond. \o/

6:52 PM
> This lock will leave a distinct artifact on the post-level for official company statements or policies posted metas sites indicating the provenance of the post.
Does anyone else thing that sentence doesn't run right, and needs editing? :P
specifically, the 'policies posted metas sites'

Yep...

@JourneymanGeek that was intentional

I wonder why it needs to be featured if it's a staff-only tool. Perhaps just to ensure nobody, mods included, feel uninformed if they see it?

Comment dropped then ;)

It makes a pretty clear distinction between a policy described by the company vs one described by the community

6:54 PM
I must admit.. for a second I was tempted to try to delete vote the post itself :P
oh hey... my delete button is gone :(

I'm surprised that edit is still visible tbh.
Close and Delete are gone

Yeah, perhaps that's a good question?

I'll drop it as an answer, I suppose

Sounds good to me.

@Spevacus yes

7:04 PM
@Spevacus I was confused by this as well.

Interested to see the reply.

Same here :)

7:15 PM
I do wonder why even mods can't touch it, especially given the reasoning for appointing Meta.SE mods in the first place.

? I don't think there was anything in the job description besides to clean up off-topic questions, mess up tag merges, and make sure people get suspended?
I think not being able to edit policy posts doesn't limit those ;)

Put out the fires when Meta lights up ;)

@Mithical If folks are unhappy with it, they'd just lash out at the mod
Back in 2012, the differences were really blurry, but I think in light of recent events, distinguishing mod from staff is a must
IOW, if you're gonna throw a nuke at them, make sure target is locked

Can someone approve or decline the edit on this question?

@Rubiksmoose I didn't know from what angle to address that question, so I just... Didn't.
Silently hopeful someone more eloquent than I hopped along.

@Spevacus yeah... I also am not going to touch answering it. I suspect from the discourse in the comments that an answer isn't going to be much good at convincing OP that their idea is not the best.

That's the unfortunate part of feature-requests like those, they're not close-worthy (unless by virtue of Needs Details & Clarity) so they end up just getting downvoted into oblivion, and even if the OP gets an awesome answer to their FR, they still come away thinking users don't care about them.
