@MetaAndrewT. almost the same language no?
That badge had me confused a bit

@JourneymanGeek why?

@rene I got +200 -56 yesterday. Then the badge was awarded today
So I was wondering where the +200 was

Caching?

Well timed/batched tasks + really really mixed responses to posts ;p

I could try to assign blame to Brian but he has an tinfoil hat ...

7:20 AM
oh no downvotes here
and its mostly mental parsing issues.

@JourneymanGeek same-same but different...

hence the /

@mlane . . . wow.
@KevinB Why does an ice cream have to end after you finished eating it?

9:17 AM
@Marshmallow because the warehouse manager underestimated the demand by a mile?

day old (!) Excel meta.stackexchange.com/questions/329874/… @rene (no more @Bart, not pingable....)

already voted on

Any volunteers with 20k rep who wish to get pinged with requests. plz ping me. ;)
@rene so we're doomed... we're the only two left. :(

If we only had lurking mods ...

(except for dog and parrot but they both appear to be away in weekends)
Other two mods never delete questions.
Actually.... never seen Chris doing even a single mod action.
But meh... guess they needed someone who's also a mod on SO.

Some mods operate in the background

4:34 PM
At least spammers don't take advantage of the modless weekend.... guess even they got some dignity. :P

There's lots you can't necessarily see.

Oh? Please share a screenshot ;)

@Catija I see what I see
I'm sure Chris is a great mod, never said otherwise, just that I've never seen anything on MSE. Do see his actions on SO sometimes.
(Saw? Long time since I visited anyway. :))

Seen is correct.

4:37 PM
Tink and JG are fast when they're around.

Wait.. he's still a mod there, no?

yeah.

Yep. 😀

yip
@JNat weekend cross site spammer for your gentle care. Thanks! :)

5:11 PM
a lot of what mods do is in the shadows

@ShadowTheCurlyBracedWizard I have a lot of obligations on weekends if I'm not working
If I'm working, depends on how busy it is and whether I have my laptop out

I'm now on (a bit) weird side of YouTube...

Honestly this job gives me a ton of free time, which is kinda nice

and a weird side of Spotify...

5:49 PM
@JourneymanGeek if you're still around, mind checking a mod flag I raised on SU.

@MetaAndrewT. give us

6:06 PM
@rene looks like another mod got to it
I'll take a closer look in the morning

Okay, thanks

6:25 PM
@JourneymanGeek grocery runs?

7:19 PM
@Catija sleeping, probably

Welcome to Meta Stack Exchange :) I have flagged to close this question as off-topic because it is not about Support, feature requests, or bug reports for the core Stack Exchange engine that powers all Stack Exchange websites. — Nimesh Neema 3 hours ago
Nice canned comment.
Except what's with capitalizing Support.
Oh there I did it Again
What is Happening to me?

you Capitalized the wrong word.

Oh I notice the cynical @rene is back, BTW

@Marshmallow where am I back?

9:01 PM
Back to the future?

nah, it says "seen 2m ago, talked 37m ago"
so it's either 2 minutes ago or two months ago... or two millennia ago...

9:54 PM
Weather next week is going to be real dangerous for old folks here
We're looking at 40+C and potentially 70%+ RH. At that temp sweating no longer does anything to cool you

Time to put AC everywhere...
But yeah, even here where we're used to extreme heat, people die every year of dehydration.
@JohnDvorak cookies?
@JourneymanGeek no prob! Cat took your place on that specific case though. ;)
When parrot and dog are busy, cats can take their place too. :D

@ShadowTheCurlyBracedWizard and heatstroke. At that combination of RH/Temp, you will get heatstroke if you don't have access to a cooled environment.
If I decided to just sit outside for 5 hours next wednesday, I'd get heat stroke just from that

That's.... scary...

if I didn't have portable AC in my apartment it would be time to camp in my parent's cellar instead. This is 2nd story apartment with very little airflow, it'd be 35°+ in here if not for AC with no way to cool it

10:09 PM
@Magisch hmm... Not sure. I was in extreme heat for hours, direct sun, and with enough water had no problem. But dunno...

@ShadowTheCurlyBracedWizard was it dry heat?

Good point, no idea. Remember I always sweat a LOT.

50C in egypt is easily survivable. The way we cool ourselves (via sweat) is by evaporation, which works if it's hot and dry so the liquid on your skin (sweat) evaporates which is an endothermic reaction pulling heat from the surface they're on (your skin)

Sounds reasonable.

at a certain combination of relative humidity and temperature (called wet bulb) the evaporation cooling function of sweat no longer works at all, which means your body has no way of shedding heat
that means, failing a cooled or dry environment, you will just keep getting hotter, from ambient heat and your own heat production from muscle movement etc, and eventually suffer the consequences of that

10:12 PM
So how come people don't die in masses? After all, many work outside even during heat waves.

last heatwave killed some 15k people in france

and the people working outside splash themselves with cold water (or colder then air temperature water)
last summer

splash your body with a bucket of water...
cactus'ed

or wrap themselves in wet towels
or use fans (which causes your sweat to evaporate faster, somewhat circumventing wet bulb)

10:14 PM
Hmm... Well hope you'll all pass it well and alive... :)

10:26 PM
@Catija and dog park
