@Shog9 Not a dupe. That one asks to change the text "by the author"; the other one asks for a totally new feature.
it's a duplicate of a previous request
not the other one you posted

@Shog9 You mean this one? You can close it however you like, but I recommend closing this one as a dupe of the above one, because this one doesn't quote or screenshot the instructions.
Yes, you're right, it is a dupe.
@Ano Never mind, it does, actually

I don't think you can look at the database to see why a question that isn't featured appeared in the featured on meta box.

@rene Shog isn't @random - he knows everything. ;-)
I appreciate that you're trying to help me... but it's not an urgent issue. If it was, I wouldn't have deleted the question.

@Catija How was I supposed to know it was your question?
That's irrelevant. The point is, that we've spent a good chunk of time trying to get you to stop pinging CMs... and now you're pinging them when other people intentionally choose not to do so.
Ano

@Catija Shog said he's OK with it in certain cases
You have a much looser concept of "certain cases" than I do and I would appreciate it if you wouldn't ping CMs on my behalf... particularly not on a Saturday night.
Ano

@Catija I don't ping him with cases of questions that need to be closed or deleted, and if you notice my recent history, I've just posted questions here or on MSE without pinging rather than jumping straight to pinging Shog here. That said, I won't ping CMs on your behalf.

@JourneymanGeek I always check the "last seen" time before pinging someone, and only ping them if they were last seen in seconds (or 1-2 minutes). Shog was seen in seconds at the time, so I pinged him.

@Derpy Whenever someone mentions me without asking me an actual question for me to answer, I always respond with "What?".

@TelautonomousKitty We were eating a snack at the San Diego Zoo once, and a peacock stole our food.
Also, we were somewhere in India once, and a chicken had gotten in to our snack bag. We only found out because I tried to pick up the bag only for the chicken to frantically jump out immediately after I lifted it.

(Yes, they let peacocks roam free about the zoo, rather than putting them into enclosures. Most of them just lurk, some put on feather shows for human audiences (and peahens), and some attack for food, just like Indian monkeys.)

@Catija I see that old featured question right now on pages served to me. The featured question are kept in some weird acting cache component that is known to not evict stale items from it. Each of the webservers has this cache and if some of them went out of sync you get this awesome effect of sometimes seeing stale items and sometimes not, some users can repro, some users not.
If it annoys me enough I ping a dev or Shog9 who has buttons he can push to force those caches to behave
see also chat.meta.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/4319645#4319645 for earlier incidents of the same issue.

order by count(Id) desc, min(CreationDate) desc

@JohnDvorak if it is timing out try SET SHOWPLAN_TEXT ON with a GO
your query might benefit from a where posttypeid = 2
Still times out
I'm not sure how to read the execution plan, but it seems like it wants to do a full scan
I would have expected it to use an index on ParentId
Ultimately I'm trying to find out how common multiple answers per user per question are
@JohnDvorak let me check, hold on
@JohnDvorak get rid of the [Post Link]
1:07 PM
It actually runs well enough against other sites
well enough to convince me that my idea wouldn't work
@JohnDvorak yeah, how that magic column stuff works is really resource intensive for SO
ugh, why?
so, it generates too large of a query? Yay.
@JohnDvorak basically yes. The workaround is to join with Posts yourself to get the title. see: meta.stackexchange.com/a/291783/158100 (although this is for users but the principle is the same)
1:17 PM
SQL sadness: Even if you group by a primary key, you can't select a column from that table without using an aggregation function.
Hmm, it seems that Posts is actually a view over PostsWithDeleted. Is that the case?
@JohnDvorak yes
2:24 PM
@Ano no. It wasn't. Please just stop trying to justify yourself.
@rene weird. Is there a MSE question around about it? I'm considering undeleting it if not. And asking how to fix it.
I don't have an obvious one.
@Catija this is slightly related on MSO: meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/312035/…
I'm happy to dupe hammer it against caching ... ;)
@Catija you mean the bug where featured questions remain in the Community Bulletin box long after being unfeatured? It's reported already:
17
Q: Post remains featured even if [featured] tag is removed

TuringTuxThis question about nominations for Pro Tempore Moderators on Computer Science Educators Meta was a featured question, but was unfeatured on June 23. However, it sometimes still appears as featured on the main page of Computer Science Educators SE: This might have something to do with the fact...

The latest swag was there for days after being unfeatured.
It seems really different. This may be related to the historical significance tag?
It was off the box for a week, though. Then randomly popped back in.
2:46 PM
I believe this is the same root cause, something there is very buggy in the core. But only SE developer can really look into it. Since it's long months reported without any trace of attention from the team, I doubt this will happen though.

@Catija oh wait.... I see it now. I think it happens only when the question is also locked. Somehow this locks the question into the sidebar.
so unlocking it might also cause it to be removed from the sidebar.
Do you want to ping Shog about it? Your call, I'm not @Ano. :)
salting the scold, are we? :P
Scalding the salt
I don't worry, @Ano won't get mad at me.
3:02 PM
@ShadowWizard Shog isn't a dev and it's non-urgent.
@Catija well, Shog fixed the logic of the post banners, so he's obviously involved, even if not writing code directly. Sounds like similar issue, with basic logic for what appears in the bulletin sidebar being off. But if you think it's not urgent all good, we can wait. :)

@rene Pretty sure this never happened. (yet)
@if.... Ok, then my answer will work for all past elections. Do you happen to know why there are 81 nominations posts in SEDE for SO's 2011-01 election while the election page only states there are 55 nominations?
The votes table or posthistory didn't help me to reduce those 81 to 55.
It only looks like the score on the posts gets reset once nomination is over.
user315433
@rene I see 51 rows in query results.
@if.... just edited, I removed the score =0 clause
If you look at mplungjan ( postid= 4730004) there is a SEDE post, but no entry on the election page.
user315433
I think a CM withdrew some of the nominations, like "vote 4 me //i'm kiddin", "I'm knowledgeable and patient. Plus, I have a cute dog as my avatar!", and "I want to put it on my <strike>college application</strike> CV."
