Latin Language went public earlier this week (while I wasn't looking). I suppose there won't be much spam there.

9:15 PM
It might still be too broad, but I added "casino" to the title to narrow the focus a bit. At least now it's not wide open. — Bill the Lizard 1 min ago

@hichris123 staph it will you, it gets enough attention and I don't want yet another meta question that brings fuel to the SOCVR is bad discussion...

Logical morning.

I was thinking to rewrite Supertramp's Logical Song to be about the life journey of a dev, and then I realized there's nothing to rewrite.

How about blood and guts?
@rene Oh I was just posting that because I was surprised there was even any discussion on that. The question (if the body is anything like the title) seems wildly off-topic. Sorry for posting it in here.
@rachsmithtweets A survey that includes the Q: "Star Wars vs Star Trek" deserves ignoring! Way to perpetuate geek stereotypes @StackOverflow
Hmm. Maybe a suggestion for the meta post...

@hichris123 nah, no problem, the poo will hit the fan someday for sure (if it didn't already)

@hichris123 you and your empty promises

> I nominate myself. I'd like to take a look at what moderation tools are available. I am quite conservative when it comes to moderation.

user315433
The 3rd mod candidate on Android Enthusiasts is a user of few words (or actions).

I didn't know unopposed elections were not allowed.

Does someone have a degiffer userscript handy? It seems an essential part of being in this room.

@JanDvorak you can switch to Lynx?

Lynx doesn't Javascript.

11:21 PM
@404 isn't that just a nomination to play games with the election?

user315433
Possibly, but I don't mind. The other two nominees are shoo-ins, so we just need one more as a formal requirement.

Is that "formal requirement" documented anywhere? I don't see it in the election sidebar text.

@JanDvorak degiffer?

user315433
I gave a link to Meta Post on Money, one of elections where this unwritten clause was invoked.

user315433
@Quill Something that kills gif files.

11:26 PM
@Shog9 Hey, I'm actually writing a meta post about the lack of livestreamed podcasts... (kinda unimportant in comparison to real issues but...)

ah

user315433
For me, inspect element + delete is easier than installing an extension.

you know what's even easier
If you just ignore @Telkitty, there'll be no more gifs ;)

@JanDvorak here you go $('img').attr('src','https://i.stack.imgur.com/PObJM.png?s=128&g=1');

@hichris123 well, the journey of a thousand miles begins with a plan to leave the house or some such

11:31 PM
@rene Now wrap this in a mutation observer, add a set of userscript headers, upload to Github and send me the link, please :D

I'm not your code monkey ...

@Shog9 hey I've actually been using my close votes and downvotes on SO for once. Taking the 4-1 train one stop I guess.

yeah...
what

user315433
But not the answer button, of course.

@404 I answered one question last weekend. No upvotes but...

11:34 PM
oh
@hichris123 did you edit it?

No but I edited a competing answer...

Did you get a badge?

I got deputy on some site but I don't think that's what you meant. :P

@hichris123 that's... Not conducive to getting folks to look at the question
I mean, it bumps, but if the question was still boring

It was a weird question. But it was at least puzzling... and worth an answer. Unlike the "my button doesn't work!111" questions.

user315433
11:37 PM
I don't see anything that needs edits there. Datetimes are boring, inevitably.

user315433
Unless it's Jon Skeet answering.

Anything Jon answers gets immediate upvotes.

@404 nothing doesn't need editing.

I have a bunch of questions I could ask on SO, but I don't really need answers, because I've already worked around them, I've worked out the actual answer myself, or they're just not that important anyway. Part of me wants to get to 10k but the other part doesn't want another set of votes to feel bad about not using. "Work so you can clean up more garbage" isn't terribly motivating.

user315433
@hichris123 You have 48 0-score not-accepted answers. I got 51.

11:40 PM
@404 Probably most of them are pretty terrible.
(of mine, not yours ;))

@JeffreyBosboom you could also self-answer

@JeffreyBosboom It's not "work so you can clean up more garbage", it's "knowingly produce garbage so that you can clean up some garbage in the long run as well".

Edited.

user315433
I don't understand where SO scope is regarding spreadsheets. Is it: scripting in, built-in spreadsheet functions out?

@404 pretty much whatever you can get away with.
The more it involves typing and the less it involves menus, the better off you'll be.

11:44 PM
@Shog9 Now I can see how bad the original title was. :/

Unless you use the macros tag for VBA. Then may God have mercy on your soul.
@hichris123 pretty worthless, eh?
Think, "how would I find this if I had the same problem"

By that adage almost all titles are bad.
Which is probably true.

The Language Learning proposal on A51 is nearly completely committed, looks like it'll be done soon.
:)
