That one looks ok.

Is there a documentation for the Smoke Detector? I suppose "fp-" means "false postitve, remove", where can I find the options?

@S.L.Barth fp is remove by default, the - makes sure it's "quiet mode": it won't respond that it registered it. See github.com/Charcoal-SE/SmokeDetector/wiki/Commands
To execute commands like "fp", you'll have to be a added to a privileged list.

@ProgramFOX Thanks, that's what I was looking for.
Makes sense.
Don't want the spammers teaching it.

Exactly.

Why is nodejs.org on nginx rather than… like… nodejs? :p

@bjb568 I'm SmokeDetector, a bot that detects spam and low-quality posts on the network and posts alerts to chat. A command list is available here.

@bjb568 they tried but it couldn't handle the load?

walmart uses node

@SmokeDetector !!/coffee

It can't be load issues.

That tells something about Walmart...

@S.L.Barth brews coffee for @S.L.Barth

Ah, it makes me a coffee. My kind of bot! :--D

@bjb568 nginx is also often used as a firewall/loadbalancer, so you're only seeing the edge server

Humph… walmart's front line is apache
nodejs is good for all things! use for all things!

haproxy ?
@bjb568 A hammer is also good for all things until you hit your thumb...

@bjb568 You sure about that?

A: Can we have a guaranteed pipeline for responses from Stack Exchange?

Jon EricsonNeither of your suggestions are particularly hard to implement. The search is: is:question [bug] or [feature-request] score:50 -[status-completed] -[status-declined] -[status-bydesign] And you can find questions that have been offered bounties by three or more people using SEDE. The problem is...

@Undo Although Smokey is the perfect platform for these kinds of applications, makes me wonder if we should turn it into a platform with filters as plugins. (cc @ProgramFOX, not sure if you saw that)
@NormalHuman ^ Thoughts?

Commented there.

I wish I knew python a little better. @NormalHuman you make a good point about hardcoding and stuff spread throughout, smokey could use a good makeover refactor
some functions are really long and such

@durron597 Uh... you obviously didn't see Smokey pre-refactor that @ProgramFOX did.

8:38 PM
wow, that was quite the diversion: beer glass went empty while looking for a way to bend the API to my will, ended up making cake. Anyway, I'm wondering if there's a publically accessible (non-scraping) way of getting a count for items returned by a search, specifically when the search is questions in a given month with a given string in either the body, title, or exact-match to a tag

user259867
Even beer glasses access API these days.. :/

I'm trying to do something like what's here, only with search terms instead of tags, but it doesn't look like that's something I can do with the API

user259867
@austinian Since you've already looked at the API, why doesn't api.stackexchange.com/docs/advanced-search suffice?

nevermind, I missed the body parameter
I will continue as I was

As you were. Only with less beer.

Agreed. Though, this is the tavern. Why doesn't the API itself have search?

user259867
You mean, like Ctrl-F on a documentation page?

no, more like ctrl+f through all of the doco for a specific term without use of google

@bjb I was told that you have knowledge of sending messages to chat using JavaScript.

Ok, so I would have to first navigate to the chat room, I can't use an AJAX call?

user259867
There is a thing for that too...

9:04 PM
Trying not to abuse the API here: I'm looking specifically for a count, not the objects (or references to/abbreviations of). I'm not seeing "count" anywhere in the documentation, but I know that if I run my queries, I'll get something around 40k, so I'd have to split it into 4-5 days of calls, with the throttle of 10k/day.

@NormalHuman Thanks.

All teh CPUz!

@bjb568 What exactly is GM_xmlhttpRequest?

Greesemonkey XHR

Ahhh....

It makes an HTTP request for a resource with elevated greesemonkey permissions

That work with tampermonkey?

IDK
probably

Apparently it should.

@bjb568 What is "http://chat.meta.stackexchange.com/chats/766/messages/new" supposed to point to?

New message post API thing for room 766

I get page not found when visiting it, is that supposed to happen?

wouldn't work in the browser
has to be a POST request, probably

Ahhh.

Q: It's election and graduation eve!

PopsFirst things first: CONGRATULATIONS, MAGENTO STACK EXCHANGE IS GRADUATING! A few weeks ago, I quietly dropped a comment on the 2015 moderator nomination post to say that we on the SE team wouldn't be appointing a new pro tem moderator... because you had been approved for graduation, and we want...

Q: Would you like to test design-independent graduation?

PopsIt's been over a month since the last graduation update and your new mods are settled in. Time for more news! First, a quick recap. As many of you know, we on the SE team approved Code Review for graduation a long time ago, and then tripped up on delivering most of the actual features of graduat...

user259867
^ Code Review already had their election, of course. Looks like they will be the first site to get a few other things without a custom design:
- removal of the much-reviled "beta" label currently attached to your site's name
- opening of "full-strength" question migration paths with the rest of the network
- activation of community ads

10:28 PM
@NormalHuman some call that inocence... a blessing

@ThisSuitIsBlackNot gist.github.com/Tiny-Giant/ae7c0f5e6823468d75c1 it now posts to a specified room (just change the url's as necessary) and can be triggered by ctrl+shift+a when viewing a post.
