Q: The self-kicking system is not functional

nicaelI've tried to kick myself from a chatroom and got: And where's "yes, kick myself" / "no, take a walk" dialogue? That's not functional and should be fixed. And who is "I" by the way?

Ugh. So terrible bug.

Since a few days ago, Wikipedia has weird whitespace in the <h1> element on every page. Why?

@HomegrownTomato To have stats about how many OCD read WP

user259867
@Braiam Well, I use the h1 content for the text attribute of Markdown-formatted links on SE... so it's annoying. Will have to trim.

10:08 PM
@HomegrownTomato nope, nope
Example: `\<h1 id="firstHeading" class="firstHeading" lang="en"\>
Triangle wave \<\/h1\>`
mmm...

@nicael I is Shog.

Come to think of it, the Verizon guy looks a bit like Nick Craver, though maybe not in this shot.

10:14 PM
@HomegrownTomato Not noticing anything weird...

user259867
@hichris123 For example: view-source:en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stack_Overflow look at h1 element

Nothing weird here...

@HomegrownTomato Oh I see.
@Doorknob It's not rendered, but it's something like ` MY TEXT </h1>`
... markdown doesn't like whitespace?

Ah, you mean in the source code. I thought you meant CSS padding or something.

user259867
@hichris123 Yeah, Braiam and I failed at this a minute ago.

user259867
10:17 PM
Does chat even support backticks anymore?

user259867
a = b + c

user259867
<h1 id="firstHeading" class="firstHeading" lang="en"> Stack Overflow </h1>

user259867
Apparently, one can't have a line break in there.

@hichris123 screenshot of what you like?
(Preferably with MD-HTML)

10:32 PM
@HomegrownTomato mm... how?

user259867
I just deleted the line break.

there was one?!

user259867
Yes, apparently. I said it's weird to have this stuff in an h1 element. Updated my link-formatting bookmarklet with .trim()

user259867
@TasosK. is just another spam wave. — Braiam 50 secs ago

10:35 PM
That's not a wave, that's a little splash of muddy waters.

@bjb568 The normal syntax highlighting?

@HomegrownTomato I'm thinking about a physics wave

Is Smoky catching this crap from the ShoppingCartElite idiots: stackoverflow.com/a/30829517/19679 ? I just burned a bunch of these accounts, but they always use the same lowercase-username, seed question, link style posts. The problem with them is their use of Google to obfuscate their links, and the fact that they make minor variations on the product name in the post. My searches don't always return everything.

@HoboSapiens gone

user259867
It's convenient to have a tag for that.

@BradLarson nope. What should we blacklist?

@hichris123 So far, I've seen these variants:

10:45 PM
@BradLarson Two questions from this one user on e-commerce that could be worth a moment of your time: stackoverflow.com/users/4999940/brittvus

Do they all have shoppingcartelite.com in them, @Brad?

user259867
@hichris123 At least, sufficiently many to blacklist the site...

@hichris123 Not all, some are just shoppingcartelite as a link, some Shopping Cart Elite, and variations thereof. Some are for other products by the same group.

Hmm, ok.

10:47 PM
Two questions now by this user (different from above) both on shoppin-cart: stackoverflow.com/users/5008433/hettywtj

Normal URL blacklists won't work, since they are using Google search URLs. Surprised I haven't seen others doing that before.

@BradLarson Smokey'll detect it even if it's just the link text.
I blacklisted Shopping ?Cart ?Elite too.

Q: Is there a library for all the product categories for an online shop/ price comparison site

panipsilosI was wondering whether there is a library/package I could reuse to obtain the product categories of an online-shop/ price comparison website. For example major e-commerce sites (amazon, ebay, price grabber etc.) have more or less standards list of products such as: Electronics, Clothing, Appli...

Bother - out of votes :(

This whole tag is horrible.

Deleted like 10 of these because ow my eyes.

11:08 PM
@hichris123 Whatever you like.

@bjb568 I like the normal syntax highlighting.

user259867
Currently watching tags: e-commerce or shopping-cart or woocommerce or magento anything else in this vein?

lets just auto-flag anything with those tags

user259867
11:15 PM
Especially if it comes from OPs with all-lowercase names.

doesn't smokey have tag filters?

@hichris123 What normal syntax highlighting? blackboard.css, the one used in the rainbow demos?

@bjb568 No, just the SO syntax highlighting or whatever.

Oh
Well, that's a light theme.

Q: A character-by-character inline markdown parser

bjb568String.prototype.replaceAll = function(find, replace) { if (typeof find == 'string') return this.split(find).join(replace); var t = this, i, j; while (typeof(i = find.shift()) == 'string' && typeof(j = replace.shift()) == 'string') t = t.replaceAll(i || '', j || ''); return t; }; ...

meh, like nothing is highlighted.
We need to highlight ALL THE THINGS!

I think my highlighting approach makes sense. Most of DevDoodle is greyscale but code can be emphasized with, well, Rainbow colors. Also, like, readability, d00d.

@HomegrownTomato that's quite funny

!xkcd find package tracking

@HomegrownTomato I tried, it isn't valid.
