@bjb568 Is your first name Brandon?
@ZachSaucier no… Why?
Also, I wrote a post on why I contribute to SO medium.com/@ZachSaucier/…
@bjb568 my professors initials are bjb and he always puts 3 numbers after them for usernames
@ZachSaucier This dude is not your professor.
I know

@ZachSaucier Maybe I am your professor. :O

The Chat MSE server just hiccuped for me.

Q: Weekly topic challenge: pruning [completed]

J. MusserI made a post asking for topic ideas for the challenge, and the next open suggestion is for pruning. Please use the tag pruning when posting questions for this challenge, and remember to keep the site quality at a good level. Next week, on December 22, I will tally up the results to see how we ...

I don't mean one chat room
I mean one system so we can see what other rooms we're in on the side using one tab
@ZachSaucier I do that
Of course, not with MSE, but

that's my point :P
I have em pinned.
it's still a hassle
not for me.
maybe we can make a third party site to do it
I have lots of screen space.

screen space isn't the issue
tabbing is

@ZachSaucier I have lots of tab space.
Q: What should we do about Greatest Hits?

Shog9A few years back, the team rolled out a Greatest Hits page that purported to display the "public face" of a site's (or an individual user's) content. Does deleting and un-deleting clear close votes?
Q: Self-deletion and un-deletion without any changes should reinstate the original close/delete votes

BartCurrently, when a user self-deletes a post and subsequently undeletes it, any votes to delete or votes to close magically disappear as if they never happened. While that might make some sense if a user deleted a post to then significantly update it, it seems to make no sense in the case where not...

@Fundamental Thank you
Updating the FAQ on undeletion was fun. "How can I get my post undeleted?" -- If self-deleted, you can undelete. If user-deleted, you can vote to undelete if have rep. If mod-deleted you can't even vote. Oh, and if your answer was deleted from review before getting three 20K delete votes, you can still undelete yourself. Where 20K is 4K if it's a beta site...
If a user deletes own highly-upvoted unanswered question, undeleting it takes more votes than if it had zero score or was downvoted.
12:32 AM
Martin Smith voted four times to undelete this question: Open links in new tabs
And Omar voted four times to delete. Some people take new tabs way too seriously.

Btw, I need clarification about closure message.
From what I know, the closure message will be displayed to OP only after someone flag as off-topic
@AndrewT. I think it's only after someone close votes as off-topic.
2:25 AM
only if flag/close as duplicate or custom close reason
What @Sompuperoo said
I see. Thanks!
When one CVs as duplicate, a banner is shown, and when one flags as blatantly OT with custom close reason, a custom comment is added; other than that, no trace is left unless they have 250 rep
then they can see the close (1) number, but they don't get notifications for it
That explains my misunderstanding about the banner... Really thanks, @Uni!
It's something like this:

@AndrewT. but being closed doesn't have to be a permanent state. They just need to edit it to a satisfactory level for it to be reopened.

@Braiam I'm doing echo "$REPO_PROJECT" && (git fsck) || echo "$REPO_PROJECT" >> errors.txt, but it doesn't seem to be working (this already takes care of the cd and all. Thoughts?
@hichris123 why instead of (git fsck) (which actually does nothing) you don't simply use git fsck?

Why isn't Chat documented in Stack Exchange API? Is it intended not to remain as part of the public API?
@jadarnel27 @Braiam Blame @Undo. His page, not mine. FIX PLEASE UNDO!
@Unihedro Chat doesn't have an API.
@hichris123 But it does use POST and GET requests.
... still not an API.
Yeah, you're right. :p
@Unihedro roflcoptr, the whole distinction between a get/post thing that retrieves and modifies and a get/post thing that retrieves and modifies called "API" is stupid.
@bjb568 APIs are usually more stable and are public. Non-APIs can break anytime and are not meant for public use.
@hichris123 Because caching, you can't really change non-APIs anytime.
Q: What exactly is the meaning of an API?

DerekI've searched for the definition of an API in a programming language and I am still finding it hard to understand. Could anyone advice me in simple, layman's terms: What is an API? How is it used? When and where is it used?

By the way, it seems that Behaviour is now Fundamental.
If you have a non-API and people use it, then it's like… the same thing as an api

I figured out a great way for SE to make more money, I saw a commercial for some movie , and a line they showed in the clip was "I could buy 1 of these or 127 toyota corollas" .. Funny joke yea, but obvious advertisement for toyota inside of an advertisement for some movie...
So what? Have advertisements inside of advertisements!
Or ads inside of ads inside of ads which are inside of an ad!

I'm curious: who's developing DD? Obviously bjb, also Unihedro... anyone else?

Drupal spam with an ad on the top is the most annoying :P
Thankfully, it seems SE dropped the idea of extending ad banners to non-trilogy sites. Commercial ads exist on some, but not as banners anymore. They sit in the sidebar, like this DBA ad.
I heard GM is going to have some new cars that give you ads like when you search for directions to a place like fast food/restaurant or something.. Gotta love corporate America.
