How did this happen? I... uh
@TimYiJiang How'd what happen? badp typoing?
Oh, right. Didn't see that. No, I mean, where did badgeInfo come from?
It's defined in badges.js
Which should really be badges.json, but details.
Oh, d'oh.
The server regenerates that file periodically, so.
00:52
Hmm, I wonder if they can change the link in the "Additional statistics can be found here" text on /election to point to the proper per-site hashtag now that you added that update.
01:19
@TimStone: Bad, bad! Linking my questions as related questions. Psh.
Hahah
Stealing things for me to do. -.-
Where is NulluserException? I haven't seen him around lately.

Hi @Moshe, how are you doing in WWDC ?

@sha - Yea, its a fantastic (slightly hidden) feature...
here is a user script to add the timeline link to posts - stackapps.com/questions/2047/add-hidden-links
dunno why I haven't installed that yet :P DONE :P

Can 10k users see how many flags they've handled from the 10k queue?
Not from the flag queue
Anonymous
@jadarnel27 No, they just count towards the /review stats.
Gotcha. So do you just handle the flag by voting or (custom) flagging? Or do you actually choose "helpful" / "unhelpful"?
Anonymous
@jadarnel27 It works the same as /review, it just has buttons to re-flag or vote-to-close without clicking through to the question.
Anonymous
No actual marking as "helpful" for us.
13:04
@JeremyBanks Awesome, thanks. That makes sense =)
I was just wondering why mod candidates weren't publicizing how many flags they had "handled" from the 10k queue.
(because I obviously did not understand how the 10k queue worked)
Anonymous
Gosh. imgur is being a bitch right now.
Anonymous
@jadarnel27 That would be an interesting stat. As it is, I'm slightly surprised that nobody but animuson is publicizing their "reviewed" count.
Anonymous
@jadarnel27 Mirror
@JeremyBanks Fantastic. So "disagree" is how things get "disputed" then?
@JeremyBanks I'm surprised by that as well.
Ha. I just helped blow up a spam user \o/
Anonymous
13:14
@jadarnel27 Yup, it's just the flag dialog with a new option for "invalid flag". I think it takes two "invalid flag" flags to cancel the original flag.
Anonymous
Not entirely sure. I just know that after clicking "invalid flag", I don't see the post removed from the queue, just added to the category for "invalid flag" as well as the category for, say, "not a real question".
Anonymous
@jadarnel27 Fun! :P
@JeremyBanks Ok, that's kind of what I was thinking happened. Sometimes my NAA flags get disputed, and I was thinking that it's because some 10k users are more lenient than I with regard to what constitutes an acceptable answer =)
13:43
Can anyone clue me in as to why trying to show code in between two bullet points is broken for markdown? stackoverflow.com/a/11007011/16587 I don't want to make it a meta question because I'm sure there are hundreds of duplicates; but I am curious.
@GeorgeStocker You actually just have to add 4 additional spaces to each of your code lines.
@JeremyBanks @jadarnel27 I'm interested in wondering how many of those 'flags' are people tagging an answer as 'not an answer'. At least as a 20K'er, any flags I make that are on things that I can be actionable about are automatically converted into close votes; so to get any flags I need to go above and beyond 50 per day; or close and flag the same question (which just seems like a waste since it adds to an already overworked moderator queue).
It's like have a new baseline for your code as a sub-list for your existing list (although I don't know if that's a bug in markdown or not).
@jadarnel27 Thanks; That's somewhat ... sub-optimal; but it works.
Haha, sub-optimal indeed =)
@GeorgeStocker Unrelated to your question: why would you write such a detailed answer to a question you voted to close?
(Just curious)
13:50
@jadarnel27 Well, that's a good question. I used to not do that (I used to just vote to close them and move on). But even though the question stinks for the wider audience (it's sort of open ended, sort of too localized, and sort of not constructive; and probably a duplicate), it's apparent he still needs an answer. I'd be frightened to enter into a project that used that method he talks about (I used to work on on such project. The word 'frightening' was accurate).
@jadarnel27 So the OP wouldn't say, "Bunch of nazis on SO closed my question without helping me", I decided to throw him a bone and answer his question. That said, I'd be willing to delete the question should there be a definitive duplicate and should this question not provide any use to the wider internet. I think it can be salvaged, but I'm not entirely sure.
In short, I'm on the fence about the question's potential; but I'm not on the fence about its current state.
Does that make sense?
@GeorgeStocker It does. Sorry, I was re-reading the question (and your answer). I think that's a great attitude to have; helping the guy out was a nice thing to do, and closing the question was the correct thing to do.
And indeed it may be a candidate for deletion (but since he's accepted your answer, obviously he's gotten the help you provided).
Alright. You can keep my +1 in the moderator election (I know you really needed it =P)
@jadarnel27 I don't know, it looks pretty close between me and #4 on the primary list, so all the votes could help.
As they say in Chicago: Vote early, and vote often.
Hahaha, oh Chicago.
Ugh. Who's number 4 now? I understand the reasoning behind not ordering by score. But gee whiz it's a pain.
@jadarnel27 it is a pain if you've already cast your vote for everyone. I wish for the following feature: Lock your votes once they're cast. If you've voted on everyone, then you're able to sort by votes.
That's not a bad idea, actually.
Oh, minitech and awoodland are battling for number 4.
14:12
So I'm a little further ahead for #4 than I was yesterday, but it is still too close to call.
And I'm not even sure how well the primary votes translate into the election votes.
People may decide things differently when there are only three people to choose from.
But no matter what happens, I'll continue doing what I do: Editing questions, voting to close bad questions, trying to salvage borderline questions; and generally paying attention to the flag queue.
And then there's meta...
@GeorgeStocker I've gotten the impression that the actual election participation ends up being quite different than the primary participation...although I haven't really analysed it enough to know in what way (if any consistent way at all).
@TimStone I believe there was some analysis done for each of the past elections, but nothing in a centralized manner.
I seriously had no idea about this. Wow. What's wrong with me?
One more vote...! =) I can't believe it.
@jadarnel27 Really?
Though to be fair, it is inexplicably not mentioned on the advanced search page...
14:20
@TimStone I know. Seriously =)
@TimStone That is weird.
@jadarnel27 No idea about what?
@GeorgeStocker That you could use the minus (-) operator on tags when searching SO to exclude questions that contain that tag.
I feel like I lose some Meta street cred for not knowing that.
(of course, that might not be a bad thing...)
14:31
@amanaPlanaCAnalPAnaMA Hi!
@minitech hows it going? ^_^
@amanaPlanaCAnalPAnaMA It's going okay! Somebody just asked me a really interesting JavaScript question.
Wanna hear it?
I still have to test it though.
Okay. This in JavaScript evaluates to 5.
if(true) { var a = 5; } a;
This evaluates to false.
'b' in window
So why does this evaluate to undefined?
if(!('b' in window)) { var a = 5; } a;
@minitech same reason
wait what?
14:39
I know, right?
that evaluates to nothing in both examples. there is no output!
I mean, it evaluates.

Q: Using a block's return value in JavaScript

minitechOn a lot of browsers I've tested, JavaScript blocks actually return a value. You can test it out in any console: for(var i = 0; i < 10; i++) { var sqrt = Math.sqrt(i); if(Math.floor(sqrt) === sqrt) { i; } } The "return" value is the last square number, that is, 9! But si...

^ See previous question of mine
14:42
It is when you alert it. But when you just evaluate it...
Confusingness!
@JuicyScripter Aah?
Then why does it work differently in the Developer Console?
@minitech Because developer consoles uses eval
Nope, it works the same ;) i.sstatic.net/mJWQz.png
Didn't the answer on that question explain why things work differently with eval?
14:46
Are you guys getting no response when loading images from imgur?
Nope, all fine here
@jadarnel27 works ok for me
It might be the local CDN edge server that's causing the problem
It seriously just changed its mind. I kid you not.
Oh, I see.
Ignore everything now.
14:47
@TimYiJiang Must be something like that, if it's working for you and @JuicyScripter and not me.
Thanks.
I'm not even getting an error back when I look in the developer tools, just...nothing. Same thing when I go to imgur.com. The site loads fine, but all the images are broken.
Nothing in the net tab?
@JuicyScripter Yeah, I was copy-pasting somebody else's example that used b as the variable name. And then hoisting and a global scope happened :P
@TimYiJiang Nope. I just get "(failed)" under the "status" column (no response code).
14:53
Huh, that's odd
Could it be a problem with your ISP instead, since there doesn't appear to be a server response
Try pinging any of the URLs?
I wonder if our corporate firewall is doing something weird.
@TimYiJiang Hmmm. I get a ping response from i.stack.imgur.com.
(I'm not very knowledgeable about networking, so that doesn't really tell me anything, though)
Oh. It's back now @TimYiJiang. That was weird.
15:48

I need less stressful workdays. sigh

This trash is garbage. From a 1.6k user, too.
@jadarnel27 Especially with that many questions asked
@JuicyScripter Right. You'd think he'd have the hang of it by now =)
after 320+ questions, he still can't format code blocks.

@BoltClocksaUnicorn Well. You stopped being a unicorn for a while. So right now, your name is a lie.
I was just fixing it =)
Also: something is wrong with my brains. So that could explain it as well.

FYI, I already ask your "which tool do you reach for first" question, @Shog9 :P
@TimStone ah, thanks ;-)
Was on the phone through half of this, but wanted to make sure I caught at least some of it
19:37
Ah, I was wondering where you were.
Argh, I've used my vote allowance.
shakes fist at the parties responsible for that being implemented
Mwuahahaha ^_^
20:05
Ughhh I hate getting stupid greeting cards -.-
20:15
@GeorgeStocker You likely already know, but in case it wasn't clear for some reason, feel free to go through the Town Hall questions at your leisure and put in your answers (just be sure to use explicit replies). I won't be working on the digest until later tonight as it is, but even if you provide answers after that I'll pull any new content into what I've posted on Meta.
21:00
I'm so confused. I really should learn to be a web developer. That would make this job a lot easier.
Somehow I thought you did do web development?
Or was that your point and I'm just being oblivious at the moment? :P (entirely possible)
Haha, yes I do. I was just making a joke.
Well. Mostly a joke =)
Ah. Just label me the fun-killer then. :P
I've inherited this big ASP.NET MVC project, and I only sort-of-know ASP.NET MVC.
So, I'm trying to learn as I go along, but right now it's being a pain. I see lots of reading in my future this evening.
Ah ha. It's not too bad once you get the hang of it, I jumped into Data Explorer pretty quickly.
21:07
(I've been a WebForms person the whole time I've been doing web development - blegh, I know - WebForms)
@TimStone That's good to hear =)
Oh, I'm already capped on meta for the day o.o
21:24
I...am not, but I have gotten a number of random votes today.
21:39
I actually ran across someone yesterday who chooses to use Internet Explorer... The choice of browser is completely his, but he still uses IE. It took me a bit for my mind to understand the concept.
