8:01 PM
@RebeccaChernoff Err, unsummons

That really wouldn't help would it @oKtosiTe
ok, why do you show up four times in the tab completer?
On a hard refresh it's now two

for (var i in users) { if (users[i].name === "oKtosiTe") console.log(i) }
154278
165932
165934
165935
that's why

Yes, but why is it doing that?
also, I like to use k for key there :p

it's "id"

well I tend to use it on on arrays that don't have a proper key value :p

8:07 PM
He had some account issues earlier, so presumably because of that.

oh, he spawned a bunch of new users somehow?
That would explain it

yeah, they have since been merged
but they left traces in chat, that's why they appear

Yah
When will that server refresh occur? in an hour?

whenever we convince the hamsters to get to work |:

Unfortunately they've formed a strong union.

8:11 PM
I should eat lunch
that would show them

I had Chik-fil-A. Delicious.

Oh, I should've gone and gotten that
I considered it
however, I'm committed at this point to PB&J and soup
considering opening the jar of nutella in the kitchen and trying it ... been kinda wussing out on trying it

It's a wonderful cocoa-hazelnut spread. What's not to love? (Actually I don't really eat it, but)

Yeah ... um, fear of the unknown? I'm quite a fan of trepidation

@jcolebrand meta.stackoverflow.com/users/165932/oktosite got merged with my current account. I hope.

8:17 PM
Yeah, I had issues when I started doing self propgation of a new OID

Meh, I really want to use SE OpenID, but it won't let me.

I am using it just fine
took me one mistry to get it right
@balpha go here:

@jcolebrand Eh, I think your answer was right.
(I don't think that the comment really pointed out anything that invalidated it)

I think Petrotta had a better point tho
it was a question of why on the views
the views should be consistent

They're different views though.

8:31 PM
As an edit that makes more sense
Ergo, I edited it in

Yeah, I'm confused by that, but alright. :P

it wasn't an answer was it?

It was, that's just how those two completely separate views work.

Now why did Kia blow away my changes?
but why do they do that?

shrugs That's how all of the tabs in the search results work, except for active.

8:38 PM
@jcolebrand Don't just ask, rollback or merge - he didn't leave a revision comment, so changes are fair game.

I've actually always wanted a search view that combined asked date and relevance, but I don't know how that would work in a non-configurable way.

@Shog9 I don't want to start an edit war while I'm eating

@jcolebrand Well, finish eating first then
Chances are, it was a mistake

I'm sure it was

I'm not sure that his edit made much sense copied directly from his answer. :P

8:39 PM
also, I'm lazy to make the edits, I'm attempting to fix myself food
ok fine, I'll go undelete my answer

If you're wrong, ok, he'll explain his edit while rolling back your changes... If you're right, you get edits.

You still haven't eaten?

Oh, well... food is more important.

I was cleaning the dishes so I could get to the counter and ...
at least I have my laptop in the kitchen
Granted, that's not saying much. It's 25' from where I normally sit
damnit, where did ben go?
Also, not only having the laptop in the kitchen but also my iPhone hooked up to the little speaker set I keep in the kitchen playing metal ... nice
should I ask this on cooking?
I have an unopened jar of maraschino cherries (I know it's unopened because the vacuum seal is still depressed) with a "Best by" date of 10/03/09. Are they safe to eat or should I pitch them as-is?
They've been refrigerated for the past two years
Ok, that's it. Nutella is too rich for me. It might be good on ice cream.

@jcolebrand I don't think maraschino cherries go bad.

8:48 PM
I don't think so either

Granted, I don't like them fresh... But they're pretty well pickled, so unless you're leaving them open on the counter for days or something...
@jcolebrand Try it on pumpernickel.

Yeah, no. Still unopened. I probably will consume them at the rate I have been to date
@Shog9 perhaps.

If you have some cranberries, those are good too

I'm drinking cran juice right now, does that count? ;)

man... if you had sour cherries, a sour cherry and nutella sammich would be excellent
next time, buy sour cherries and leave the pickled ones sitting on the shelf.

8:51 PM
lol, ok

@JeffAtwood Are you seriously going to mark this question just because you misunderstood the feature request?
Unless Stack Exchange search is about to get super powerful, but I'm going to assume not.

Which Q?

It's linked.

That question has a very misleading title

damnit, that's subtle
That sounds like a place for a user submitted app using the API

9:05 PM
Yeah, it's kind of in line with a deferred request to have a global search that works similar to the per-site searches.

I could go for making an app tho that takes a UID and parses the associated users list, then trawls all the sites and presents a list ordereable by date, votes, sitename
we are looking for an app for nodeknockout in August, that sounds like as good a two day app as any

That'd be nifty

Yeah, so I think I'm going to get @Raynos to do that in August
Gives us time to sketch some layouts, decide how far down the rabbit hole we want to go
We're already self-named after the SO chat room we're in (SO642)

meh, doing it that way is painful. so many http requests

Are you going to create a new stackexchange.com/MyUnansweredQuestions route then?

9:12 PM
Ugh.

I thought the idea was "where the company won't, the community will"?

@RebeccaChernoff Well, less requests than locking someone in a dark room and having them do the lookup manually I suppose.
Hm, the OP of this question is likely digging himself a hole with that comment. :/ I have no idea why someone down-voted in the first place, but I have a feeling the comment provoked the second down-vote, heh.

So I was just herping on the derpbook, and my brother-in-laws little brother was tagged in his friends album, and like all 12-14 year olds, they are definitely ... yeah. So anyways, there's two boys wearing an Elmo shirt and a Grover shirt and the one with the Elmo shirt has a 'stache, and the other one doesn't. ... Elmo and a 'stache.

lmao

I think that could be a new meme for something
Elmo and a stache.

9:22 PM
I am terribly afraid to find out what that could possibly be a meme for.

when I started looking at a general "I know this got posted I just don't remember where" solution, it was...depending on what you want, you have to pull questions, and pull answers, and pull comments, and pull replies. there's 60 sites, and perhaps you want metas too. you could be issuing 480 requests, and that's assuming you're not doing any paging on any of those requests

Well, there's 4k
@RebeccaChernoff I would do it the smarter way than that
I would pull the users's associated list first
Most of us are not Ivo
Most users have like 6 accounts

So that's like 12 requests
and it was only for unanswered questions
so no answers, no comments, no replies

the case I was looking at was mostly just searching metas for posts from the team...but that info could be in questions/answers/comments/even replies

9:24 PM
I was thinking of replicating the default list box style for the Qs and provide links out to the sites where they belong
Ok, I see. Well yours is definitely a more advanced use case than mine

Yeah, I resort to my memory being more practical than the API in that case, heh.

and limiting by associated users eliminated...nothing (;

@RebeccaChernoff for whom? For you? Of course! For me? About ten sites! for Tim? like 40 sites!

> @Nathan Now that you mention it, this may have something to do with the fact that I'm using the Dvorak keyboard layout (which maps 'k' to the Qwerty 'v'. Yup, that's exactly what it is). – Chris 3m ago
:O!

For great justice? @Shog9!

9:26 PM
blames dvorak

@TimStone blasphemer!
Never blame dvorak! What did it ever do to you?

@jcolebrand Just because I didn't listen to you about joining DBA

lol what?

@TimStone seee!!! This is what I'm talking about! L! A! Z! Y!

I still use ctrl+c and ctrl+v for shortcuts.

9:27 PM
@RebeccaChernoff huh who? These are not the droids you are looking for

ie, I hit the key labeled "i" to copy

That's just sillyness

HI All

Hallo

Jin
greetings

9:37 PM
Indeed

'Ello

Who's pinging me? And what's all this nonsense

No'ody
Which is obviously short for noodly
which means it's FSM business

@jco: why not just find associated sites with > 0 posts (scrape SE user page), run site-search on those (with ninja ops), and aggregate results (using magic)

@Shog9 because it would seem to me, that using the SE API would involve less work than scraping
and using node would let me do magic

9:44 PM
@jcolebrand You sound nuts

And doing it for nodeknockout gives me a raison d'être for the competition, and prevents me from having to create a db backend

user157982
He only sounds nuts?

@nil have you seen my face? I look relatively pleasant!
AND! I have a body.

@jcolebrand Vote for this: stackapps.com/questions/2332/… ...and you should have all the data you need in the API

It's not much of one, sure

user157982
9:46 PM
Oh sure, that's what they all say.

Some have less

but it's mine, and it's the one I have
@Shog9 I know. I feel bad for your body, that it had to put up with your head for so long
@Shog9 yeah ... that's what I was talking about doing

Or, you know, just scrape it and be done. It's only one page.

Meh, the /users/<id>/questions/unaccepted route is pretty simple.

@TimStone presenting it for all the sites takes a tad of effort, don't you think?

9:55 PM
It takes a few steps, but all the pieces are there in the form that you need them, so not bad.

I know, right

Q: Is it better to ask one complex question or a bunch of tiny questions?

alphablenderI don't want to annoy people. I also don't want others to do my work for me, but my programming skills are completely self taught, as are my math skills, so there are some missing pieces in my knowledge. So if I ask one question, then when it is answered, ask the next question, is that consider...

VtC: Dupe

> Who downvoted you? That was uncalled for. Offset.
kicks @jco

huh who what?
Yes, well, I didn't think he deserved all that

Sympathy up-vote?!?

He did have a point, just not on this particular situation
I preferred his score to remain at null
@TimStone aye, what can I say, I'm a big ole softy

I am straining, as hard as I can, to resist down-voting him purely because you up-voted him for having a down-vote.

10:18 PM
lmao
edit instead and I'll remove

Retaliatory down-vote?!?

I consoled myself by deleting @jco's comment.

I noticed

I'll thumbs up that.

for great justice:
i.imgur.com/gXrcN.gif and because that's annoying to watch on repeat, if you wanna see it click

10:22 PM
@jcolebrand Done. Do your bit...

done

Heh... Now that edit has resulted in a better answer with a worse score. Brilliant!

in other news, I passed 4k on meta today
ok, I'm gone now. I'm not sure when I'll return. I am sure, however, that nobody really cared to know that. Can't unknow it now tho ;)

I know, I almost didn't want to up-vote you, but ;)

My brain is superior, @jco. unknow

10:39 PM
> @WTP: I don't need to know the details here. I just want to know Hans' impression about this feature-request. – xport 2m ago
That's kind of an odd response to what WTP said, huh
@jcolebrand Someone down-voted your bug report about the comment deletion rate-limit dialog bug? The hell?
They must have thought that was a really bad joke.

Well, apparently the latest kernel update is the culprit. =/

10:56 PM
Hm, I wonder what they changed that's causing you issues.

Q: How does AppMakr and Mobile Roadie work?

PetterHow does AppMakr and Mobile Roadie work? Do they load native UI in their apps or is it webapp based? And how do they update their content within the app?

Huh.

11:13 PM
Oops. I misspoke. I meant to say, "Well, apparently the latest kernel update isn't the culprit."

Oooh, heh.

I just ran into the same issue w/ the previous kernel.
Thankfully, LCDs don't use a ton of power.

11:26 PM
Oooh, Redmine uses Textile formatting. It seems better than Mediawiki's formatting. Though, it does mean another syntax to learn.
