Heh! My most controversial question ever so far. +12/-10. Why is there no badge for that!

Q: Get rid of the "consecutive days" requirement

PekkaThe "Enthusiast" and "Fanatic" badges are awarded for visiting a SE site after a number of consecutive days. Staying away only for one (GMT) day breaks the chain of consecutive days. I fail to see how the behaviour that this requirement encourages is a healthy one. It's fine to reward frequent a...

reminds me, I have to downvote :)

A: Get rid of the "consecutive days" requirement

balphaSomeone who uses technicalities to insist they should be considered a fanatic is not a fanatic.

Hmmm, new neighbors o:

@balpha Depends on your definition of "fanatic" :P
Which is, I think, what @Pekka was getting at

9:07 PM
@RebeccaChernoff is that good or bad?

I dunno. They look normal at least. (;

well that's just not fun at all, you need wierd neighbors

@RebeccaChernoff do you smile backwards to them too?

I think I recall @MichaelMrozek planning to move... Maybe he finally did.

@balpha I did say that they seem normal. q:

@RebeccaChernoff Appearances can be deceiving. ;)

@RebeccaChernoff They always seem normal. Until you look them in the eyes.

Hahah

lol
peers out the window across the street again |:

Always good to start off on the right foot, being known as the "Person across the street who stares out her windows at neighbours".

:picked up a bunch of free-after-rebate junk at staples' presidents day sale:

I'm pretty sure there's more than one episode of Law&Order where a murder is discovered by a peeping tom in a building across the street.

hmm, I thought the [tag:<tag>] syntax worked in comments?

no

That looks an awful lot like my cat

9:17 PM
@balpha If I don't leave the blinds up a bit my cat has been known to destroy blinds.

@RebeccaChernoff do you want comments to look like this?

I certainly do

If we took out all the features that people abuse, there wouldn't be too many left.

@RebeccaChernoff yeah, that "ask question" button is a real pain

We'd have to eliminate chat entirely, which would make balpha sad

I'm sure someone would write a jQuery interface to IRC so we can pretend chat still exists.

> Renesys confirms that the 13 globally routed Libyan network prefixes were withdrawn... and Libya is off the Internet. One Libyan route originated by Telecom Italia directly is still BGP-reachable, but inbound traceroutes appear to die in Palermo. A minority of our peers report some surviving paths through the peering connection between Level3 and Telecom Italia, but traceroutes into those prefixes fail, suggesting that the Libyan cutoff is complete.
I wonder how confident bit.ly, adf.ly, ow.ly, etc. are feeling right now.

"no, chkdsk SPACE /p"

I'm impressed you even got to the point that your family member had a prompt open to type on.

took a while, had to find the silly OEM recovery disk
still ongoing.
they're my parents, they gave me life, I need more patience.
"stop saying "blue screen" unless it's THAT kind of bluescreen!"

@MichaelPetrotta What you really need is....Rovio!

@Tim: passed that on to him, thanks

wait, so C can return structs with arrays inside them, but not arrays.
I'd really need to relearn it, I'm tired of going wtf
also yay for mixing stuff requiring char *, stuff requiring char * restrict and stuff requiring unsigned char *, as if there was any goddamn difference when handling "strings"
your disapproving silence, noted.
