@M.A.R. Guns (the Chronicles of Amber is one of the best series/saga of books I've ever read, really awesome writing and wonderful world build with pure imagination)
Got friends who also knew all along they won't have kids, their plan is to just enjoy life and not bring kids who will only suffer and make their own lives worse.
@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard Yeah that's not right. I mean, it's been done a lot in the past and has hurt people until they've moved on, and everyone said afterwards "see, nothing wrong with it", like they had to explode or something
Here in Israel, and even with @Journeyman, kind of.
He's in a good place where his parents don't actually force him, just nag endlessly, but others are actually forced. (as in "get married or you'll be expelled")
I mean, right now you have 5G conspiracy theorists. In 100 years they'll vanish, it'd just be irrelevant, just like the "electricity is evil" people are no more
@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard Sure but I don't think it's a circle, it's a really huge arrow forward.
Not everything is relativistic
Even the below-average Trumpster is smarter than most normal people 150 years ago, by most definitions that experts use when defining "smart".
I mean, we have regressed in some parts, people somehow know more and can do more but are subjugated more by the corporations in the west and the governments everywhere else
@M.A.R. I'm not sure. Being able to use Google or play silly games on smartphones don't make one smart. They still fall into the most silly fake news, they still follow power and fine words, even when it's clear they're empty promises. And of course, religion is the same, didn't budge a tiny bit in the thousands of years it exists.
@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard Well, that's not all that people can do. And the second thing you said is an oversimplification. Lies were much easier to tell and less sophisticated just 70 years ago. And the third thing you said is also false, religion has been constantly molded by social or other forces
@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard That's because the genetics determine a large part of it, and those have remained the same, except modern people are a bit less fertile I guess. But I'm saying, even if our progress is other areas is not as tangible and organized as in science, we've still come a long way from even just a century ago, and I don't mean the comforts of the body.
But by all means, comforts of the body have probably played a big part in it
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog Sorry about that! I think it's because that link is probably specific to my username, which requires being signed in with my username to see it. How about this one: stackexchange.com/filters ?
