@M.A.R. eww go wash your hands! (Well that's what my wife tells the kids whenever they touch their legs or scratch their butts ;))

Scratches butt, then kisses biceps

@M.A.R. not really, FOX got tons of associations I'd never guess he can have, lol. :D

Being a parent is going to be tough.

@M.A.R. eww all dem germz
Might smell good, but not good for health! :P
@M.A.R. and rough
So you actually plan to become parent one day? @M.A.R

9:09 AM
Well why not

Some, like Tink, don't, and it's fine too.

Sure, the alternative is for them to be forced to be a parent, and who am I to expect that of them.

Got friends who also knew all along they won't have kids, their plan is to just enjoy life and not bring kids who will only suffer and make their own lives worse.

I don't buy the hopeless alarmist nonsense about the world going to shit, nonetheless.

9:11 AM
@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard unchanged (?)

@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard interactive (?)

@M.A.R. what you mean "forced to a parent"? Lost you there.

I'm a bit distracting and I'm eating the words
Distracted
Goddammit

@M.A.R. forced by whom? There's no law forcing people to become parents...

9:13 AM
@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard No I mean I have no say in whether other people should be a parent or not. There's no should

Worst case, they'll do what Tyrion did with Sansa.

Well in the books Tyrion hasn't done anything with Sansa yet

@M.A.R. exactly but he claimed he did, so people can say "Hey, we're trying, but baby just isn't coming". (while not really trying i.e. protected sex)

About partners though, I think everyone should look for a partner
Uhun
YEEESH that class was boring

@M.A.R. not really some people really enjoy being alone
Think Sonic and @Mag both fit in that category.

9:16 AM
Well sure, I don't mean a 13-yo should, or people when they think they're not 'ready'

They might find partner if "forced" by family or tradition, but will only suffer.

But ultimately, I just think our nature can't be thwarted enough for there not to be more solace in the company of a partner

@M.A.R. sure, lol, I mean adults.

@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard Yeah that's not right. I mean, it's been done a lot in the past and has hurt people until they've moved on, and everyone said afterwards "see, nothing wrong with it", like they had to explode or something

@M.A.R. normally, yes, but there will always be those who are "off the chart", may it be physically, or mentally. And we should accept them all. :)

9:19 AM
But generally the societal pressures that aren't too harmful are best not resisted. I mean, we should pick our fights.
@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard well that's not orthogonal to what I said

@M.A.R. past?? No, it still happens a lot.

If the society is pressuring you into exercising more, I mean, they shouldn't do that, but your best course of action is exercising more

Here in Israel, and even with @Journeyman, kind of.
He's in a good place where his parents don't actually force him, just nag endlessly, but others are actually forced. (as in "get married or you'll be expelled")

Yeah I guess, most places including mine haven't caught up with the new century. There will always be outliers
It's not the norm though, the bell curve is shifting

Hopefully.
Now forget all this crap, go find a girlfriend! @M.A.R :-D

9:22 AM
I mean, right now you have 5G conspiracy theorists. In 100 years they'll vanish, it'd just be irrelevant, just like the "electricity is evil" people are no more

You infected me! ;)
@M.A.R. in 100 years, if humans will still exist, there will be other conspiracy theories. They never stop.

@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard Sure but I don't think it's a circle, it's a really huge arrow forward.
Not everything is relativistic
Even the below-average Trumpster is smarter than most normal people 150 years ago, by most definitions that experts use when defining "smart".
I mean, we have regressed in some parts, people somehow know more and can do more but are subjugated more by the corporations in the west and the governments everywhere else

My lazy son calls me to dress him up, brb

See, even you son is lazier than sons were 150 years ago!

9:52 AM
@M.A.R. totally

@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard solar (?)

@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard freezing (?)

10:06 AM
@M.A.R. I'm not sure. Being able to use Google or play silly games on smartphones don't make one smart. They still fall into the most silly fake news, they still follow power and fine words, even when it's clear they're empty promises. And of course, religion is the same, didn't budge a tiny bit in the thousands of years it exists.

@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard Well, that's not all that people can do. And the second thing you said is an oversimplification. Lies were much easier to tell and less sophisticated just 70 years ago. And the third thing you said is also false, religion has been constantly molded by social or other forces

10:22 AM
@M.A.R. I agree the world is better.... but not the people in it. Think that's my point.

1 hour later…

2:16 PM
~ India: A Magician of Benares

2:36 PM
@ShadowTheVaccinatedWizard That's because the genetics determine a large part of it, and those have remained the same, except modern people are a bit less fertile I guess. But I'm saying, even if our progress is other areas is not as tangible and organized as in science, we've still come a long way from even just a century ago, and I don't mean the comforts of the body.
But by all means, comforts of the body have probably played a big part in it

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog Sorry about that! I think it's because that link is probably specific to my username, which requires being signed in with my username to see it. How about this one: stackexchange.com/filters ?
