Yes, I am aware it is different. But since this is the only post discussing how to get attention to some bug/feature request, I thought it was worth mentioning.

About pining a user - even if somebody is not pingable directly (i.e., not offered in autocomplete), you can still ping the user by direct reply to one of their messages. Well, assuming that they posted at least one message in the room.

This probably should not be overused, but I can imagine that if there is some important issue, this is acceptable. (Although, it is quite likely that I am telling you stuff you already know - since you have spent a lot of time in chat, so you probably know that functionality pretty wel.)

Although in this specific case it is unlikely to help - it seems that rossipedia never posted a message in rooms associated with Meta Stackexchange, :-(

Which probably explains also why he is not pingable here - since only users who posted at least once in the room are pingable even when not present.

From answer to How to make sure I'll be pingable in chat for a few days?:

> If I recall correctly, you can be @pinged for a week since your last visit to the room (even if you're not currently present among the room visitors), supposing that you ever posted in that room

I see. In any case, since the comments on that thread went in this direction, I left a few more thoughts about this here.

And I definitely agree that it should be used with caution. But some users often chat with mods or SE employees, so maybe in such cases it is less of a problem.

Perhaps some of the "big boys" have the advantage that they have easier access to SE employees, since they meet them often in the teacher's lounge. But as mere mortals, we can only speculate what really happens there...
