Q: Make links posted by users open in a new window

Gordon GustafsonMost of the time when I follow a user's link, I just want to see their site, look it over, then return to answer their question (not leave SO completely and not come back). Could we make the links users post open in a new window please? EDIT: I originally wanted this implemented because it's wha...

unclear^

@JanDvorak I think it's only unclear because of the language gap ("order out" vs. "out of order")

can you edit it to make it not closeworthy?

@JanDvorak If I'm right. I was waiting to see if the OP said "Yep, that fixed the problem".
(Or, if they responded and said "that's not what I meant" or "that didn't fix it".
Either way, I would have expected some sort of actual output vs. expected output, not just a code dump.

I have no idea what the asker is trying to ask.

I think it's destined for closure for some reason.
@JanDvorak I think they just need an order by in their query, and they want the options to be brought back in order.
I'm guessing the combobox is currently option 1, option 2, option 4, option 3 and they want it to be 1,2,3,4

5:15 PM
what's the point of sorting by ID just after you select by a specific ID?

hrmm. good point.

so... cv-pls

yeah. we need code for rs's recordsource
cv'd, deleted old comment, added new one.
@JanDvorak Darnit.. this is a dup of this.
from that other question:
Yes, the number 4 is out order. — Danrley Rodrigues yesterday
We need the next 3 cv's to be dup.
And someone needs to retract.

It doesn't really matter how it's closed.
Probably best just to ask the OP what he means and if it's even a dupe, since we can't understand what he's asking anyways. Plus, the "unclear" blurb would be more helpful to him than the dupe one.

It does to me... (cringes, and runs away).
Well, I'll leave my vote as-is.

5:22 PM
cv status 3/5

It's weird how much time we spend fixating on single questions instead of just moving on to improve others. We could have made like a zillion helpful edits in the time spent scratching our heads at this one.

interestingly enough, his rs in that older question has an ORDER BY id

I suspect he's trying to select multiple IDs at once, hence "candidatos".

@JasonC I'll spin that as "attention to detail" :)

E.g. "where id in ("&candidatos&")" maybe.

Make posting a question on Lifehacks the primary criteria for forced eugenics.

I really want to see positions for the SE eugenics team pop up on careers. I'd totally apply.
Also, for reasons I can't understand, Anna Lear just popped into my head as the leader of that team.

Feb 20 at 2:59, by Anna Lear
@FamousBlueRaincoat My mantra lately has been "well, if they can't log in, they can't complain, right?". Your suggestion seems in line with that.
"Well, if they're dead, they can't complain, right?"

So, @AnnaLear, you're in, then, right?
@AlexisKing Haha. "Or...... things your phone can do."

5:39 PM
@JasonC I'm reaaaally tempted to post that video on Lifehacks or Lifehacks Meta in some appropriately snarky way.
I just can't figure out a good way to do it.

forced eugenics = you should die because then the humanity will suck less?

@JanDvorak Exactly.
Killing everybody who asks a question on Lifehacks will improve civilization's problem solving skills as a whole. It's a long term benefit.

Can you save humanity by killing 10% of the population? I'd shift the numbers closer to 99.9%

Well, maybe not just 10%, but it's a step in the right direction.
Yahoo Answers could fill in the gaps a little, too.

Yahoo Answers: Just a step above "don't press this button or you'll die". Yet many do.

5:45 PM
@AlexisKing You could just start posting answers there, then finish all the answers with "BOOM! LIFE HACK!" and a link to the video.

wouldn't that count as spam?

It kind of reminds me of the Bill Tull tips on Conan.

@JasonC I'm suddenly way too interested in posting extremely mundane answers that technically answer the question.

Yeah I just got that feeling too, haha.

Q: Keeping tub and shower clean, mildew-free

EmilieIs there a quick, daily routine to keep the tub and shower clean? A procedure after each use? I am also wondering how others use their shower curtains: do you keep it in/over the tub at all times (including baths) or only for showers?

Just like... buy some cleaning supplies and wash your shower and tub.
LIFE HACK!!!!

5:48 PM
I think all the answers should contain "Use a pink sock and a white sock."

@AlexisKing Skip the Shower every morning! It'll never get dirty! Life hack!

Can... can we set up a Tavern Lifehacks trolling ring?

@AlexisKing For example: I use my trusty white sock every morning to wipe down the moist shower. After the white sock is saturated with water, I switch to my pink sock to wipe down the curtain. I then pull the curtain out of the tub. Finally, I grab both socks and shake them vigorously so they aren't sopping wet and hang them over the curtain rod. My tub and curtain stays dry. The walls of the bathroom get a bit wet due to the water flung from the socks, but at least I'm mildew free.
Wow. I thought way to hard about that.

@Andy wow. Most of us use towels.

@Andy Soon: What is the most cost-effective way of obtaining white and pink socks?

^ Bahaha

Sometimes I feel I shouldn't be chatting under influence... :-(

Cats are like self-reproducing sponges.

@JasonC Here, I'll ask a question about the most cost-effective way to get sponges, and you can answer with that.

We're gonna get banned from LH, lol.

I hope so.

5:57 PM
@AlexisKing inb4 "spam seed?"

Raising cats might not be cost effective though. Hmm.
If they're outside cats you probably don't have to pay for food but then you need to get them their shots. Or do you.
Actually you just need a female cat, then you can let her go outside and be a slut.

@JasonC That just means you don't have enough of them. Quantity over quality. More cats means lower costs per cat

@JasonC It's okay, if you're Lifehacking Properly™ you can use the cat-raising business as the front for your Ponzi scheme you're running.

@JasonC Most scum accumulation occurs because of either soap deposits, or hard water... Buy a water softening system, and use less soap!

@Braiam I don't see any vote reversal on his end in the last week, yet he pools as many (up)votes as there are "fish in the sea"...
If this is purely related to a single user misusing their voting, then sure, it's acceptable. But it's not easy to verify.

@LynnCrumbling phew...

Hence my original question: Perhaps a mod can weigh in and confirm that this is/was the case rather than speculating...

@Werner Mods generally refer all serial vote flags to the serial upvote/downvote task that runs. If it doesn't catch it, they remark that it will in the long run. If the task doesn't flag it, then it isn't critical enough to be an issue.
