7:00 PM
I think this is a great idea, though. The Town hall Chat thing was always so disorganized and having it at a set time meant not everyone could participate anyways, so everyone always ended up coming in later to answer all the questions and posting after-the-fact.
Might as well just have everyone do that.

30 candidates.

NOOOOOOO!!!
I mean, wonderful!

Must. Get. 20. More. Rep. So. I'm. Not. Kicked. Out.

> You must have at least 5 reputation on Software Recommendations Stack Exchange to answer a question.
Lol I can't even answer my own meta question. xD

That's... sad.

7:13 PM
@hichris123 ?

So a >10k user nominates himself just to see how stuff works, potentially pushing out valid candidates with one more nomination ... nice

rofl
@Bart I know... ;(

So if I'm feeling spiteful I should just go ahead and nominate myself, right? Wait, who's on the bottom again?

@Geobits Well... hichris is ;(

@Undo Um... maybe not. :P

7:16 PM
oh?

Huh. Well I probably shouldn't do it then. I mean, he's right there.

lol

sigh someone just upvoted me twice.
Which means... apparently I'm not on the bottom.

Let me downvote you in compensation.

so... who is?

7:17 PM
@Bart Heh. You would do that...

After him it should be the Wobbuffet.

Yeah.

I don't know why I'm worried about getting kicked off in nominations, it's not like I'd make it through primaries :P

In the nomination phase, any community member in good standing with more than 3,045 reputation may nominate themselves to be a community moderator.
Um... what? Why 3,045?

7:19 PM
@animuson Haha. You should start a new meta question complaining relentlessly about this downright violation of your freedoms.

he can't :P

@hichris123 It adapts based on the lowest rep nominee

@hichris123 Only 30 nominations can move on, so once it hits 30, the minimum reputation threshold starts increasing so that there's only 30.

Wait, do nominess still get swag just for being a nominee? If so, I'm totally going to knock someone out when the timer gets down to two minutes.

ahhhh!

7:19 PM
Ah, since they would just be kicked off...

@Geobits no, you have to make it through primaries too.

Someone with less than your reputation can no longer nominate themselves, because they'd get DQ'd anyways.
@Geobits AFAIK only the final 10 candidates get a t-shirt.

Well that makes more sense.

Ug.. why do you have to get into the middle of messages @animuson?

Quick, someone say something nice about me or I'm running for mod!

7:21 PM
Because I am always the center of attention. pose

@LowerClassOverflowian you are awesome.
Wait, I have more rep than you.
goes to answer SO questions

@LowerClassOverflowian I'M GOING TO CLICK THE CINDER Spam BUTTON ON YOUR NOMINATION IF YOU NOMINATE YOURSELF. :P
Should I do that to @Undo too? :P

D:

nooooo hichris must get to primaries
serial upvotes
:P

Grrr I cheat myself out of rep because I end up voting to close all the questions I have enough knowledge to answer -_-

7:23 PM
@Undo Exactly.
@Doorknob If two more people nominate then I'm out.

:(

One more is fine, though.

I'm going to be upset if after this election I'm still the lowest-rep moderator.

So... vote for @Undo and me? (@Doorknob you're 20k right?)

@animuson Don't worry, you'll still be our 15th most favorite mod!

7:24 PM
@hichris123 yes
(yes I'm 20k, and yes I'll vote for you in the primary :D)

Okay then... stackoverflow.com/review/suggested-edits/4083621. You do realize that if the Lizard closed something, then it really is NARQ?

I'm going to have a hard time choosing who to vote for when I haven't been hearing any candidate sound bites.

sound bites?

delicious

bites on microphone

7:27 PM
Or seeing who looks moderator enough.

32 minutes.

Well... who's the most evil?

We should get them all in a panel ("by satellite" of course), and watch them talk over each other for a few minutes. That'll make it feel more familiar.

7:28 PM
Now's the time to start the negative ads undo.. release them!! hahaah!

@Undo Last CV of the day. :P

tries to think of a negative ad
if I tried to run a negative ad campaign I would screw up and bash myself.

@Undo Just blame them of being robo-reviewers
it doesn't have to be true

rofl

If you don't vote for me I'll ban you. As a regular user. I know how to hack stuff like that...

7:30 PM

@Doorknob No, the many diamond part points to ChrisF, not you :P

:P

@LowerClassOverflowian Was that a good enough negative thing? I couldn't think of anything else.

Sorry, I charge 1000 reputation points per hour to be someones campaign manager

D:
such rep

7:32 PM
@LowerClassOverflowian Bounties don't come that big. Sorry, you're out of luck. next

@LowerClassOverflowian SO or meta? :P

I'll do it for 500/hr

Hmmm....

SO only, no meta points.

If I don't win, do I still have to pay you?

7:34 PM
Yes. That's why I'm running a campaign instead of running for moderator.

If I got an mSO diamond, I would go all minitech and give bounties to everyone.

I do it for only 1 rep per hour! offer only valid precisely on the hour. offer void after primary begins. further terms and conditions may apply.

@Doorknob How do we pay you?

@hichris123 okay, 5 rep per hour. just upvote one of my questions :P

I'd pay you 1000 rep per hour to be your campaign manager!*

*offer invalid in some countries. Void where prohibited. May be a lie in some states

7:35 PM
An upvote on a question then two downvotes maybe?

(make sure to read the fine italic print)
@hichris You're no longer the lowest rep nominee :D

@Doorknob Yeah, I know. :P

yay!

now we hope that in these 21 minutes 2 more people don't nominate themself.

That would make me sad.

7:38 PM
20 mins ago, by hichris123
Which means... apparently I'm not on the bottom.
@Doorknob ^ You're a little late... :P

lol, just a little

Okay... we're betting on primary votes now.
How many votes after the first minute? :P

I bet 500 rep that I will get up to 5 votes or more in the first five minutes!

Net votes?
up minus down, or just up?

doesn't matter; I always win anyway :P
> up to 5 votes or more

7:40 PM
Does the serial downvote thing trip on elections?

@Undo :P

oh ;(

I know who's going to downvote everyone now... cough

suspcious stare
18 minutes

19!

7:42 PM
leaves room quietly

Okay, now 18.
You can't really serial vote in an election anyway...

@hichris123 downvote everyone except you :P

@hichris123 you can do it over the period of a few years

3*10/2 minutes!

@Manishearth That's not really serially voting... :P

7:46 PM
Is there a process of reporting a possible robo-reviewer?

@CarrieKendall Yes. Flag one of their posts.

@CarrieKendall Yeah... flag one of their posts with an other flag.

out of curiosity @Carrie, who do you think is a robo-reviewer?

hope minitech handles the flag.

@Doorknob Probably you. :P

Since we all know Doorknob's are robots.

the reject, if the reviewer visited the question and read the summary, was a good edit and no reason for rejection

@hichris123 Approve approve appr- I mean, what? Huh? What are you talking about...
> approved 145 edit suggestions and rejected 38 edit suggestions
seems okay to me

6
Q: Serial edit approving; a problem?

DaedalusWell, while approving edits today.. in my opinion I came across a slight problem. Users serial-approving edits without even checking the content. I question whether there should be some sort of penalty for this.. if x amount of approvals a user has made have been rejected by every other user do...

That doesn't make them a robo-reviewer, though.

7:49 PM
10 minutes...

Oh no, that scared me @CarrieKendall I was part of that ! Thank goodness I approved

@animuson out of curiousity, what would you classify that as?

I might have actually rejected that one

@Bart why?

7:51 PM
Would have been wrong @CarrieKendall, but at first glance that does indeed look strange.

@CarrieKendall Some people make mistakes. I can't say I haven't accidentally declined a flag because I didn't read the flag comment correctly.

@Bart is the edit summary unclear?

Nope, that is the thing that would have tripped it for me. But at a quick glance I overlooked that and thought "what the..."
Merely saying I could see the honest mistake by the other reviewer

@Doorknob Mm... why?

yeah, i just meant this as a reference, thanks for the helpful pointers

7:53 PM
@TimPost Did you just send me an email?

@hichris123 that edit most definitely should have been rejected
it changes code

i am weary of flagging unrelated content (as suggested here) simply because of that @animuson :)

Am I the only one that's never seen his name pass by, or is he active here under a different account?

7:54 PM
anyways, off to a meeting, thanks

@Doorknob Oh, I didn't see the braces changes and else added.

...why did someone star that message I posted? :P
4 minutes

Why hasn't anyone starred any of my messages?

Didn't know this existed: meta.stackoverflow.com/a/221592/158100

here's hoping two people don't randomly nominate themselves just to troll @hichris :O

7:56 PM
Go dress up as a giant star and we will.

@LowerClassOverflowian Better? :P
@Doorknob Okay, @animuson go nominate yourself. :P

can a mod nominate themself? :P

I don't think the post will actually submit, but the link to do it is there.

Feb 10 at 21:00, by animuson
Lol why does the "nominate yourself" link appear for moderators?

lol

7:57 PM
Hmmm, Safari doesn't support JS Navigation timing...

@animuson Try it? :P

T-2:00

I'd rather not break things.

if it works, someone will be kicked out :P

That's... not the point of being a mod @animuson. Mods are supposed to break things.

7:59 PM
1 minute...

1 minute
ha! I was faster

We break hopes and dreams, not the site.

> Nominations close in 52 seconds.
