I have the script from Jan running in a separate session. Once it notifies I copy the url and flag and if the chat transcript doesn't have a link yet I post a message

@rene - I suspect it is time for reinstalling firefox.

Pff, someone should teach him markdown. That's not a numbered list.
Nice try with the "lo ve" though

There is a lot that needs to be improved @Bart and @JanDvorak
That account is also using the same username I saw before

I am invigorated by the absence of Hitler in this room.

Hello Tim Post!

Google does a surprisingly good job at translating the latest blog post

11:25 AM
@TimPost Little known fact - @ShadowWizard is actually Hitler and writes his chat posts from deep in South America at the grand old age of 124.

Hello Duncan!

Hitler is probably just misunderstood

@Duncan now that you know my greatest secret...

speaking of which... how did the yesterday genius end? ban until 2058?

Ban until DateTime.MaxValue

11:32 AM
Anyone German?

Yes, Hitler.

Oh my. 31/12/9999 23:59:59
10000 going to have tons of bugs

nope, we should move to federation dates much before that.

I'm going to go pretend my mouse is a phaser for a while, and get some coffee.

11:39 AM
Coffee is out, Big America is in

@TimPost if you have a stapler nearby it works better as a phaser

Meh, I have more cow in my wallet than those pansy buns.
@SPArchaeologist The problem is I get carried away in the world of make believe, and want to avoid a perforated finger.

Hello OGHaza!

@TimPost - that is the precise reason they hide all the box cutters we had in the office. My last attempt to kill the SharePoint server with an Omnislash.

Just been 3 suggested single tag edits adding [google-api] tag. Previously there were no questions with the tag, should it exist? or be nipped in the bud? [adsense] has 600+ questions on the other hand
[adsense-api] tag sorry

@OGHaza I've seen a post on that....

@rene, pft I'm gonna go ahead and remove them, none of the questions are new and there all 0 score and very low views. If the tag for adsense needs changing it's going to take more than 3 edits of bad questions.

@rene no, I don't think he's using it like the late Adolf

@rene - image blocked by the browser tracklist.

this is actually symbol of luck in its origin

but... does the cross look mirrored?
@ShadowWizard you beat me on it

it survived for thousands of years, too bad one single person destroyed it like that

actually, the pokemon card game had to edit a card because the original image had that symbol in the background.

12:05 PM
Anyway it's still being used, innocently, especially in India it appears
oh a bug
Maybe now it will be oneboxed?

That is the problem with powerfull symbols, once they are misused it's origins are disrespected as well

@SPArchaeologist well, for most people that symbol is offensive and they don't care that it was valid symbol before

@ShadowWizard I will create the user "Chef Tony" and start posting spam about Miracle Blade knifes
"Chef" Tony Notaro (born November 5, 1954) is an advertising pitchman for cooking and kitchen products, seen primarily on infomercials and home shopping channels. He was born Anthony Joseph Notaro in Brooklyn, New York to first generation Italian-Americans. His informal chef training includes working in his grandmother's Southern Italian restaurant in lower Manhattan. His father sold fresh produce from a horse and wagon and his mother ran a home-based Italian catering business. At age 16, Notaro began developing his own culinary products after school in a neighborhood pizzeria. At age 1...

Q: Allow flagging an account for SPAM/offensive if no post are associated with the user

BraiamIn the same vein as our recent SPAM/trolls wave, apparently they noticed that we can't destroy user accounts just by flagging and we need to post in chat to get the users knocked, so I'm proposing that if no post was created by the user, allow users to flag the user "About Me" as SPAM/offensive (...

@jokerdino oh, so this explains a lot

@jokerdino seems I've missed a whole lot of fun there.

@JanDvorak lol, I'll work on that
@ShadowWizard Thank you ;)

A: What should be the limits for chat bots interacting with regular users?

Shog9Call me naive, but... Why do we need special rules for bots? The rules for humans are pretty straightforward - in particular, the rules of etiquette boil down to, "don't annoy other people". If a chat-bot is annoying people (by posting lots of noisy messages or - just as an example - graphic vi...

1:18 PM
Since when? We were told it's not.

@Bart - wait, I am busy searching my Vendetta mask.

bottom line there is: a chat-bot shouldn't allow you to do anything you couldn't do by yourself, with your own account

I should make my bot count how many spams it's detected like @Undo's Charcoal :P

@ShadowWizard well, we were told that not even a person should greet users before they speak
they could be scared away

@JanDvorak where? missed that part :(

1:19 PM
What kind of whimpy-*ss users are those @JanDvorak?

A: What should be the limits for chat bots interacting with regular users?

GillesA chat bot must never initiate conversation with an unsuspecting user. When a user joins a chatroom, the expectation is to chat with humans, not to be assaulted by a bot. If the bot takes the initiative, it isn't interaction, it's spam. Interaction with a bot must be opt-in. It's fine for a chat...

+13/-7

That was after ChatBotJohn was suspended in Root Access, wasn't it?

correct

@Jan tat's not official response and not even highliy voted
With all due respect to that user, I listen to shog :)

@ShadowWizard so, may our bot start greeting people again?
We were told by a diamond moderator to stop

1:21 PM
@JanDvorak note that I don't ping, just mention by name.
And don't post extra stuff like picture, rep etc
And... it's the tavern
This will likely be more frowned upon in other rooms
But that spam hunter bot can also greet people if you ask me

Our bot only sends a simple (but longish) message, not any picture. If it's the ping that counts...
Our bot only posts images when asked to

okay, so my currents stats are: 21 "bad keyword" spam detected, 0 false positives. 3 "no spaces in title" spam detected, 3 false positives. 5 allcaps title detected, N/A false positives.

Yeah, ping also cause a sound and everything so more intrusive

I think I might just remove the no spaces in title check.

Why "N/A" and not 0?!

1:24 PM
because you can't have a false positive allcaps title :P

oh
So why show it at all?
;)

consistency? :P
I wonder if they're trying to "hack" Stack Exchange right now... lol

Consistency killed the kitten :D
@DoorknobofSnow no doubt they're trying, using secreet tools

I've once sent > 1 request / sec to SE, and I've been cut off
this means that a DDoS isn't going to happen

@JanDvorak oh yes it can happen, they're using botnets
so different requests from different IP addresses
The code has no way to know those aren't 1000 different valid people
Just posting in the same second
Hello Undo!

1:30 PM
there is another reason the attack will not happen.
to perform an attack to a structure like Stack you need a brain.

heh, SE is under constant DDoS from normal users already

@SPArchaeologist never underestimate your enemies
Honestly, from what I see this is a serious matter and serious attack
And the worst is still ahead of us

I haven't noticed any slowdown

Oh, telkitty left :(

@ShadowWizard mah. Spamming magic ads on a TECH BOARD?

1:32 PM
@SPArchaeologist that's just a test

@ShadowWizard Maybe you scared him away?

Let's imagine what will happen when 5000 different accounts are created and posting in the same instant

if it was a test I would have used --different-- ads

I think that's their goal

so that it could seem that the spam are unrelated to eachother

1:33 PM
@JanDvorak it's "her" and no, it's not so easy so scare the Queen of Trolls away ;)
Maybe "bored her away" though

@ShadowWizard ungh. I don't have that many spam flags.

@JanDvorak yup, even @animuson won't be able to handle 5000 with his ubber scripts :D

If you're planning an attack though, announcing it, and taking some time to test the waters might not be the best approach @ShadowWizard. People are aware ...

What scripts does he have? /me wants

@Bart they claim they want Stack Exchange to enhance its security
So they give us a "fair chance". LOL

1:36 PM
@ShadowWizard then they should file a bug instead

Ha, well, they've selected the right site then I guess @ShadowWizard. The Devs here seem generally very receptive when it comes to security concerns.

@ShadowWizard "make me a mod I said. U just gona get hacked" != fair chance
that reminded me more of a teenager attempting a bluff

@SPArchaeologist nah, dunno if that's really them. as for bluff, well, they can create many spam accounts and bypass spam filters. That's more than most spammers so far.

What is in it for them? Only prestige?

@rene yup, this and maybe they got offended by the nature of Stack Overflow e.g. downvoting one of their (legit, no spam) questions
