I was on vacation then, that must have been it. I inspire people to talk.
@MarcGravell Why can I not search for single letters in chat search without it giving me a broken error page? I suppose I don't mind it snubbing me for the single letter search, but it could have told me off more gracefully. :P
@TimStone I got in a...disagreement with some people who felt we need to specify which site we're mods on, which I find pointless since there's a handy logo right there on the box, so I changed my profile message to be passive-agressive
@MichaelMrozek that's a dev route I hacked in when Joel said "OMGOMGOMG There's a board meeting tomorrow, quick, give me something so I can prove to them that it's worth paying two guys full time to hang out in a web chat"
@OctavianDamiean It's Linux, nobody cares about anything outside the homedir. I just moved computers; I got a list of every package installed on the old one, mass installed them all overnight, and rsynced my homedir to the new machine and it worked perfectly
Most of these now work. My comment below has the following markdown source:
On [main], you are expected to write proper English (as advertised on [english.se]), but here on [metaso] it's more important to have freehand circles, so please [edit] your post, otherwise I'll have to flag you (see ...
http://meta.stackoverflow.com/q/92060#94000 is a valid SO URL. [metaso:92060#94000] is the minified representation of that. Which is a lot less characters than the URL.
@TimStone no, exactly, I don't. And since I think it'd be more useful for users than posts, and I don't exactly see it being useful for users....well, suffice it to say I'm not overly excited about the feature request. (:
Clever errors annoy me. I found the "aww snap!" page funny the first time; now when I get it I think "maybe you guys should spend less time being hilarious and more time making sure I don't see this"
Besides that fact that chat's error page is ugly because it has no styling, it also steals borrows the error lolcat image from Stack Overflow.
Of course we hope that nobody ever sees that page, but I'm sure we agree that's not going to happen, so we could at least have our own image.
So, what p...
I have been posting questions on stackoverflow for about a month now. Every time I post one I receive fast answers that are exactly what I am looking for. Just so I can understand the site better i'd like to know why are the people who answer questions on here so dedicated and loyal to the site...
Utah has the Four Corners monument in it, but that's about all I know of it. I have a friend who lives to the south east in New Mexico, but I imagine it's quite different there.
My question essentially would be, if you're the kind of person who would feel really comfortable living in (or close to) San Francisco for example, is Salt Lake City a place to move to? In terms of cultural life, diversity, laid-back lifestyle, and so on?
I assume the answer is "no" but I don't really know - all I know about either place is not based on real-world experience :)
