@AndreasismovingtoCodidact Dunno, we'll need to test this theory at some point, I feel like we're only assuming that being a jerk to people does not give positive results. We need practical results :D
@GeorgeStocker I wondered, when will Shog's GoFundMe be closed? You never gave any timeframe (not that it was necessary), so I got curious as to when you wanted to end it.
Surfing the web in the 90s was more about trying to find a damn web page without the blinking marquees and font colors that didn't make you want to rip your eyes out of their sockets.
I'm not familiar with the political system's descriptions (at least in english). It's a democracy because we elect people, but then they do what they want so in that sense this isn't a democracy, is this what I should be understanding?
But isn't this how politics works nowadays? I live in Canada, and sometimes what you just said describes our reality too. I bet most of the places [with democracy] has the same problem.
@Stevoisiak At this point, I feel that a lot of people are more focused on making SE know they are pissed than actually reading what's being posted and adjusting their mood accordingly based on what they read, and not on what happened before. Might be why the feedback has so many more views that the FAQ.
@terdon Just pitching in my 2 cents, I'm not mad about this specifically, but I'm a little annoyed at SE at the moment to say the least, and I still wish things would go better. That's my uneducated vision of it.
If v1 is super harsh, and v2 corrects it, then I'd personally feel much better about it, given the current circumstances. Because part of our reactions are triggered by a perceived lack of responsiveness from SE. A clear show of "we messed up, we acknowledged it, here's the changes we think will fix this" would help I believe.
Maybe not totally unproductive either. It would have been easier to see what changed, how the tone was modified, etc. I haven't done the exercise myself, but if v2 of the FAQ is better, then a summary of the changes could be a good promotion tool for it.
@Shog9 I guess from that point of view it makes sense to delete the old FAQ. Would it have been possible to highlight the differences between both versions, or provide a short summary?
@HDE226868 tons probably. If they stripped her of her mod status without true cause, then they might want to cover their behind. Or they didn't like her at all. Or "Bob" didn't like her at all. Or they don't care that much. Or something else. Don't forget SE stayed out of most discussions on Meta.SE until very recently, and even then I don't feel they are "participating" that much, but more "toe-dipping".
There might be one, I think someone posted it on Meta sometime ago. But I was just curious to see if this was a feature the developpers would like to add to our preferences.
Keep in mind that while you are very annoyed by your current situation, to say the least, we don't usually like when people get mad or impatient at us when we are trying to help. I kindly suggest you take a minute before posting anything and re-read yourself to ensure you keep a neutral tone towards the users who are trying to help.
@TobiAkinyemi Stuff like this usually gets fixed. It just takes time for the CM, which are pretty much overloaded with work, to sort things out and provide a solution. You have to be patient though, because they do have a lot of work. We get that you are tired of feeling harassed, but please remember that we, as users which are not in a position to help you more than we did, did all we could with the tools we have. Its now in the hands of a CM, which is the only person who can fix this.
