Tavern on the Meta

MY GOD, IT'S FULL OF STARS AND BACKLOG! General friendly chit-...
09:46
You herd wrong
09:42
I don't have enough data. Maybe they're working on a related project. Maybe they just want to know. Maybe they're frustrated and they too enjoy yelling into the void.
09:42
@AndreascondemnsIsrael Organisations are dysfunctional and political
09:39
I'm going to assume good intent
09:38
@AndreascondemnsIsrael That nothing comes out of it is also a reflection of lack of buy in from higher levels
09:37
@AndreascondemnsIsrael Not really no
09:35
@ShadowWizard I don't blame the staff, I blame the tendancy to downsize + the sheer disruptiveness of that + certain other decisions ._.
09:34
A it'll do pig?
09:10
@ShadowWizard That's why I think parts of the community management model are broken. As the network got bigger there is more back end stuff, but they also need people who can connect to, communicate and actually thrive on meta
09:08
@VLAZ why would a pig have responsibilities?
09:05
But far enough that it's not charcoal?
08:58
@VLAZ Only if you like things extra chrispy
08:10
sounds baaaaad
05:58
that's wierdly cool and thoughtful
05:58
...
03:17
(and make fun of them of course. )
03:16
@Starship Cause they're manifestly unethical, and there's nothing wrong with them losing all their business and going bankrupt
03:15
But I didn't advocate murder. I advocated science.
03:15
And people who think this stuff is fine prisoned
03:14
Oh, I'd want the company to die.
03:14
I literally said murder wasn't fine
03:13
Not saying murder's fine, but that "innocent" is hardly a load bearing description
03:13
@Starship oh, that insurance company was infamous for replacing employees with AI, and denying obviously valid claims
03:12
Also Death penalties are usually used for single murders.
03:12
@Starship Hypothetically, that guy probably legally let a lot of people die for profits.
03:07
@AndreascondemnsIsrael I disagree with it in many contexts. I definately disagree with the idea of it being mandatory in almost all contexts
03:05
@Spevacus I mean, it shows how little hope people have in fixing the system
02:13
Would have saved a lot of people, and he could have trailblazed the way for communism. IN SPACE!
02:08
@Starship They could have sent Stalin.
02:07
@Starship apparently there was a way to euthanise the dog, but they wanted data, and let the poor thing die alone in the cold of space
02:04
Besides, I sort of addressed the attention span thing
02:04
@SmokeDetector too slow
02:04
@AndreascondemnsIsrael I like writing meta posts \o/
02:03
@cocomac Neither am I, but in context I think its grimly funny
02:02
@AndreascondemnsIsrael We'll need to see. I've a few suspicions, but I don't trust the company to have the attention span to follow up
02:01
@AndreascondemnsIsrael I cannot begin to explain how messed up that is
02:00
@Starship there's a really bad, topical joke behind that I'd better not explain
01:38
and "the practical study of the after effects of thermonuclear war" is not good science if there's no one left to publish or peer review it
01:37
Make science, not war
01:35
(I don't actually endorse that, there's too much junk in space as is)
01:34
Like politicians, and insurance company CEOs
01:34
We should send less lamented things to their potential deaths in the cold of space.
01:34
It can be remembered
01:33
And this makes it ok how?
01:32
Laika sure didn't
01:32
And he chose
01:32
(covered up his dead? Sure. But he would have come home if he hadn't died)
01:31
Would they have left Gagarin in space?
01:31
That's what they want you to think
01:30
@AndreascondemnsIsrael eh, or brought Laika home
