@Luuklag OK

@Feeds Two things: first, when is the required "this blog post may contain product placement" line? It keeps mentioning Keenforms all the time. Should we flag the post as spam?
Second issue: did they ever tried to work with the date or even better the FILE picker?
@SPArcheon it was already said many times that any guest post is advertisement.
@ShadowTheKidWizard I know, but if the parrot gets to be grumpy when she has to do annoying work so should I :P I am working with SharePoint these day....
@SPArcheon these days? You're working with SharePoint for as long as I know you, which is almost 10 years. :D
@SPArcheon Want to switch? You can be 'tiepmiep' for my neighbor and I'll do some sharepoint.
You will be called 'girlie' and 'sporchean' while doing it too.
@Tinkeringbell I'm sure that @SPA can actually drive the neighbor away by talking to him for hours about things like SharePoint and MLP, in a friendly manner, so the neighbor can't just dismiss it. :P
08:32
@SPArcheon also this is waaaaaaaay less product placement than a lot of them. It's only incidental.
It's one link and a couple mentions.
@ShadowTheKidWizard If it can be done, and the friendly manner be kept, while continually being called 'girlie' and 'sporchean', I'd be impressed.
Hi guys did the bookmark picture change? Or is it just me
contrast with that blockchain fluff piece billed as a pro/con article
@DialFrost it's just you. there's never been a star. it always looked exactly like this.
@Tinkeringbell hmm for all we know, @SPA might look like this:
@DialFrost (yes, it changed, probably prep for the new Saves feature)
08:34
"girlie" isn't something one can say to such a person. :P
@RyanM Huh strange
@RyanM no? There was a star when it was called favorites. It was changed to this when it became bookmarks.
@ShadowTheKidWizard Did I mention that one of the recent issues was that a Sharepoint rest api used to update a file needs a different date format for datetime fields based on things like the UI regional setting, display settings (date only or date and time) etc? So a programming level API is influenced by UI related presentation details?
@ShadowTheKidWizard Oh, I bet my neighbor would. Or 'boyie'
@SPArcheon typical for Microsoft, yeah.
08:37
@ShadowTheKidWizard I think I mentioned this many years ago now. Once upon a time, at a weird very specific fantasy book-related convention, I could be seen with another person playing a very specific song....
@Tinkeringbell is he really that brave? ;)
In your dreams
Magical thoughts...
All things are real
Unless you dream they're not....
@SPArcheon I was never able to figure what you meant by that, like so many other things you said over time. :)
@ShadowTheKidWizard well, that song is from a specific game intro, so there is a good chance that we were playing the role of the original characters in the game right?
@SPArcheon sure
08:39
There is only a tad, little, insignificant issue with that...
Good luck guessing who was who.
@ShadowTheKidWizard Don't confuse stupidity with bravery.
@SPArcheon if those are the two of us, since I know my own gender, it's easy. So there's some catch. ;)
@Tinkeringbell lol
@SPArcheon I admit playing less old games than I should/wanted to play. :(
I played or know the most famous/popular, like Zelda or FF series, but not much more.
@ShadowTheKidWizard nope, that is the intro of said game, meaning that the info is useless since the two characters are different gender anyway.
@SPArcheon meh, in my head you're the one to the left. ;)
@ShadowTheKidWizard No? It looked like this before:
unless you're playing along with my joke and it went over my head
in which case yes I agree there was no star
08:59
@RyanM May I ask, my good friend, was it "Berenstain" or "Berenstein"?
@SPArcheon that's the boring alternative reality
the one I remember is the one where Tina Turner did a cover of 'holding out for a hero' as part of the Mad Max: Beyond the thunderdrome sound track :D
09:15
@RyanM Hehe I didn't see any update from meta on this though
@JourneymanGeek funny trivia: Did you know that the Megadrive had a Michael Jackson licensed game? The pre-release versions of the game included the song Thriller in some levels, but it was cut due to licensing (Michael Jackson wasn't the songwriter for "Thriller"). Thanks to roms, emulation and good old Mandela Effect now people swear they had a copy of the game with Thriller when they were kids.
09:37
@RyanM oh, thought you meant the old star.
@SPArcheon stain of a Beren is harder to clean.
Fun fact, my last name is very very alike to "Berenstein", matter of couple of letters difference.
The Berenstain Bears is a children's literature franchise created by the late Stan and Jan Berenstain and continued by their son, Mike Berenstain, who assumed partial authorship in 2002, and full authorship in 2012 following Jan's death. The books feature a family of anthropomorphic grizzly bears who generally learn a moral or safety-related lesson in the course of each story. Since the 1962 debut of the first Berenstain Bears book, The Big Honey Hunt, the series has grown to over 300 titles, which have sold approximately 260 million copies in 23 languages. The Berenstain Bears franchise has also...
@DialFrost they are not announcing design changes anymore.
or, more specifically since onebox does not consider anchors...
> Many people incorrectly remember the name of the series as the "Berenstein Bears". This confusion has generated multiple explanations of the memories, including an unannounced name change, time travel, or parallel universes, and has been described as an instance of the Mandela effect.
According to Stan Berenstain's son, confusion over the name has existed since his father's childhood, when a teacher insisted that the name was spelled "Berenstein" due to the prevalence of names ending in "-stein".
@ShadowTheKidWizard Frankenstein?
@SPArcheon "stein" is the correct form for Jewish names. Dunno what's the other form means, or in what language/culture.
"Stein" means "valuable stone" as far as I remember, though never checked this.
@ShadowTheKidWizard Rex Lapis?
(ok, this may set a new low record for jokes)
09:42
@SPArcheon no, not any specific stone. Like the word "gem".
@ShadowTheKidWizard Huh I see
@ShadowTheKidWizard to be fair I was just talking about the Geo Archeon in Genshin.
So since Berenstein sounds a Jewish name, that is indeed the correct original name. Of course, anyone is free to change it, that's what Stan and Jan probably did, or their parents.
@DialFrost good, so you don't need glasses. :D
@SPArcheon assumed so, too lazy to check. ;)
@SPArcheon yes! How did you know?! :P
09:45
@ShadowTheKidWizard I think they're pausing it for now as opposed to not announcing it
which they might have been doing already by the looks of things
Though with all the info I post here, pretty sure it's easy to get to my full name. :)
@JourneymanGeek I mean the small changes that they kept pushing slowly, one by one, like accept color, and before that, small changes. Changing the star shape might also be considered "too minor to announce", even when "Announce policy" is turned on.
That one doesn't really annoy me to be honest, and minor indeed.
But the overall behavior, well, less so.
@ShadowTheKidWizard that would indicate you have no idea how pedantic this community can be :D
@JourneymanGeek but I know! And the new developers also learn, the hard way.
And now I have to go prepare lunch, got 90 minutes until it should be served to wife and three hungry kids. :P
10:07
@ShadowTheKidWizard Hehe :P
10:27
@ShadowTheKidWizard It shouldn't be the hard way tho
That basically is painful for everyone
while stocks last
Would be nice if others supported my request to have SD post messages of posts reported solely with experimental reasons if they have been affirmed to be spam by humans there (i.e. have TP feedback).
(actually, forgot that SO reports aren't posted here)
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog I saw the user on MSE, and took care of the user here, dropped a link for more people to flag, and let an SO mod know :D
(though it's still a good idea to implement that since it can then be reported into SO's rooms so regulars there will notice it)
that's roughly sufficient
Having to do that with every single experimentally-reported post is a huge pain and hinders spam from being deleted.
10:54
Well there is organic spam flagging
and tattling
11:23
tatting is fun :)
Can make some pretty stuff doing it too :)

2 hours later…
12:54
wild @Spe detected
Oh my gosh. I had the volume on my laptop at maximum. It's early, I've barely turned the lights on, I'm sipping my coffee... That ping almost gave me a heart attack.
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog support how, exactly? Comment "Yes, I agree"?
But hello to you too :)
@Spevacus haha!!! My pleasure? ;)
Doctors say that early heart attack is better.
Well, Dr. Shadow says. :D
@JourneymanGeek of course it shouldn't, but most bad things that happen, shouldn't happen in the first place.
Legal note: "Dr. Shadow" is not a licensed medical doctor and any medical advice should be disregarded indiscriminately.
Ah so I should stop overdosing on caffeine in an attempt to induce a heart attack in my pre-30s? I knew he got his medical license out of a cereal box.
I have special Sonic license. ;)
@Spevacus Yeah. The more acceptable medical advice is that you first look at your finances, and if your parents aren't wealthy, you aim for the heart-attack pre-twenties :P
@Tinkeringbell LOL
13:02
@Spevacus I had overdose every day since I'm 20 or so, and I'm way over my 30's by now, so you're safe. :P
@Feeds Crouching blog post, hidden Onebox
@Tinkeringbell lol, that really affects the medical insurance? I never checked, but think here it's same pricing until you're 60 or so. ;)
@ShadowTheKidWizard Not insurance no :P But if your parent's aren't wealthy, chances are you'll be paying for everything yourself by the time you turn twenty :P
@Tinkeringbell ohhhh lol
Better to avoid that if your finances aren't up to that either :P
13:05
I pay for everything since I was 21.
Well, most things. :D
@Feeds lol didn't notice until now that every newsletter also has blog post, thought they're just sent by email...
Ngl I liked the previous bookmark design better
@Tinkeringbell hehe I'm not there yet :)
@DialFrost If they're going to rebrand it to saves, I demand a floppy disk design.
4
I'm assuming it's not possible to bring the old design back?
6
Q: Can advertorial blog posts be marked as such?

CodeCasterThe conclusion of the latest blog post, titled "Why the number input is the worst input", is: I felt compelled to build my own form builder [...] Your last option is to do what I built for Keenforms: use a simple input type="text“, which will always give you its value, and do all your validation...

@SPA ^
@DialFrost Quite unlikely, since they're totally switching over to saves. Makes me wonder why they bothered changing the design of bookmarks now, though.
13:15
@Spevacus saves?
@DialFrost Indeed! Saves.
@Tinkeringbell what size of floppy disk? There were two.
@ShadowTheKidWizard actually more.
The biggest and loudest one.
@ShadowTheKidWizard The one that turned into the iconic icon :P
13:17
there were 8 inch ones too, and some strange versions
@Spevacus good chance it just leaked.
I believe you mean the 3 1/4 inch one tho and not the 5 1/2
@Spe hope you lowered the volume by now? ;)
💾
@ShadowTheKidWizard oh yes
@JourneymanGeek yes, I never remembered their exact size. ;)
13:17
Its an emoji now?
It is. It graduated. Forever immortalized. 💾💾💾
@ShadowTheKidWizard hand over your geek card :D
@JourneymanGeek there's poo emoji, of course there'll be floppy disk emoji. :D
@Spevacus tru dat
@Spevacus read it for 5mins, didn't understand much, gave up :P
@JourneymanGeek cries
@JourneymanGeek never heard about those, though I did see actual paper card with holes, that served as some ancient form of disk. My company CEO used to program with those.
13:20
Punchcards
8 inchers were never common I think
Maybe lol. He wrote CNC programming to make machines move. ;)
@DialFrost it's bookmarks, with some nitro.
@Spe why not edit? ;)
@DialFrost Tl;dr: Bookmarks being renamed to "saves" - You will be able to "Save" answers. You will be able to add lil notes to your saved posts for future reference.
@ShadowTheKidWizard Didn't know if I'd be able to edit it within the edit window x.x
@Spevacus lol fair point. You're no ninja. :D
@Spevacus strange I prob won't use it but ok XD
I rarely use bookmarks, too. I might use this Save functionality a bit more often, though, given you can categorize them.
13:23
@Spevacus won't be using that either :P
Considering I basically nearly never use bookmarks in the first place
Whenever I bookmark it's gone in 7 days as I'll usually follow up with the post and remove it from my bookmarks
@DialFrost well you'll get badges
@ShadowTheKidWizard ?
13:25
I'm confused you can get badges from bookmarking???
tho honestly I use follows almost entirely as a moderation tool, and that does what old bookmarks did but better
@ShadowTheKidWizard now I'm confused :P
uhhh
no
> Absolutely! With the ability to save answers now, we will be adding two new badges for you to earn: Favorite Answer (Silver Badge) and Stellar Answer (Gold Badge), awarded when answers are saved by 25 and 100 users, respectively. The badge list will be updated to reflect these new additions.
So apparently you'll be able to get two new badges for having a post you've made get saved a bunch of times.
13:26
You already can for questions, this just extends that to answers.
but the idea is you can say create lists of stuff around a specific say project
@Mithical ah I see thanks!
so you could, for example build a list around say, your open source nuclear weapon control system
Ha! Whoops. Looks like the "saved" verbiage already leaked out into the Badge list page:
@JourneymanGeek hehe
13:27
...I'd note that the "saved" language has already been - ninja'd.
@Spevacus par for the course
they also leaked the rename earlier :D
I did see that as well. On the status-review guidance?
Fun stuff.
@JourneymanGeek yeah that's weird, but guess with so many changes it's on purpose.
and I had noooo idea what was going on
@ShadowTheKidWizard its essentially a distinct, and frankly better feature
13:28
@JourneymanGeek point is, the feature itself isn't live yet, might still take months.
@ShadowTheKidWizard but things leaking out.... :D
happens
its leakier than a coffee sock
If it's really leaking not done on purpose, that's one huge hole they got in their deployment mechanism. :D
Or they are really excited.
Talking about huge holes, going to play some FF14. Cya! :P
One last thing rant before I go, I place my bet on 1:3 upvote/downvote ratio here within few days. ;)
oh it's not featured, so only if/when it gets featured.
@ShadowTheKidWizard I wrote a bug report, we'll see what they say
13:39
@Mithical Awp. I posted an answer on the announcement question. Mine was more "Oi, why are we seeing these changes" rather than "Please change the description wording back" so I think they're fine to be separate.
Please stop stealing my comments @Mithical ...
Plagiarizing from the future.
@rene no :)
shakes petals
15:14
Hm. Should we migrate this question? The author noted that they meant to post on Meta SO. However I think it'd likely just get closed as a bunch of dupes on MSO that I can't currently find atm.
....
second time I've done this today lol
anyway, I've popped the SO mods a message
Thanks :)
I'm going to bed now, but once I get a reply I'll do the needful
15:21
Sleep well.
15:34
@ShadowTheKidWizard +1
16:16
@Spevacus looks like the developers lost the keys to the development environment, so now using only production, even for the initial dev stage. Sadly, I'm not kidding. This is really the most likely explanation.
I do wonder though, what other gems we can find... and also sure we can find things that break security. At least this will force them to do things in dev environment again, and push to production only when, well, they are ready.
@ShadowTheKidWizard maybe the dev environment was actually Shog pc?
@SPArcheon haha, you know what they say? The most unreasonable thing that you can possibly think about, is usually true.
So yes, this actually might be the case, dev env locked for specific person, who forgot the password. :D
But really... this does not fit SE. Or... meh, will stop here. Time for...
!!/coffee
@ShadowTheKidWizard brews a cup of mocha for @ShadowTheKidWizard
handing over the mocha to one of the (many) new developers, to help them seal the leaks
@rene oh hey! Been a while since you did that! :D
:D
16:24
1y4m to be more accurate.

@MetaAndrewT. shakes petals ...
I'm not often an angry flower
@rene That's lucky for the whole of us! :P
@rene at least not until a new region releases and a wave of annoying players trying to ascend Dori comes in?
17:15
@ShadowTheKidWizard no... this is totally normal way for us to review it on the live site. I'm not sure why the pages are accessible to people who don't have the staff marker on their account but we ship to staff only for several of the new features, including Winter Bash every year. And April Fools.
17:25
indeed... since my day one (6 years ago) Stack Overflow has used feature flags, and we've shipped a bunch of features feature-flagged so that we could do small PRs with code that's effectively unreachable before a feature is read. We also use it so that certain people can see a feature
I've made mistakes using feature flags more than once, but this is def not a change in how we build and ship stuff here
I don't know how farther in time feature flags go, but it's at least 6 years
18:16
Calling that a "cocktail" seems like a stretch.
18:36
@Catija Agreed. It has no alcohol, so it can at most be called a mocktail..

2 hours later…

@Feeds I'd rather just do a tapeworm shot: 1 oz of jagermeister, with squeezy mayonnaise squeezed into it
