@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog I just woke up in the morning and spectacularly misinterpreted the title by '"Why I go," by Rosie' ....
02:59
@MetaAndrewT. ._.
I think that would have been slightly more depressing...
Funny thing is I consider people using their legal names more confusing than people using handles
03:45
@JourneymanGeek well, supplemented with Sonic's following commentary, my sleepy mind thought for the worst ._.
in a question like this, is it acceptable to post an answer that asks questions?
actually never mind me, they were brain fart questions, time to take a break I suppose :)
nope nope, hold on: do deleted answers now come ahead of negative scored answers?
sorting by votes and refreshed
this will be a mess for 10k+ users
I guess if the answer is yours only?
Or some userscript magic
04:02
highly doubt it, first time I see it and I've deleted plenty before[1]; no magic
[1] which means I can check, 1 moment
works fine on Aviation
my deleted (score 31) is below a visible -1
something unique to MSE, something being rolled out?
I don't think they're rolling out anything related to sorting answer, even unpinning acceoted answer is not (yet) activated on MSE.
I see. Any 10k user here on MSE can check? deleted post: meta.stackexchange.com/a/369594/392799
screenshots don't lie after all, unless I really need that break
what sort do you have
04:10
votes and refreshed
pretty sure it's always just followed the sort order
regardless of delete or not, delete just tends to drop to the bottom due to no activity, no votes, etc
Aviation example coming up:
sorry was too high (aspect ratio), will retake
yeah, must be related
Deleted posts from experience are always after the lowest-score visible answer when sorting by votes, that's why I noticed it right away
well, meta se doesn't have it enabled
or... didn't hours ago
04:15
related to what sorry?

Q: Do deleted answers sort by score among visible answers here on MSE?

ymb1 Above: sorting by votes (link for the 10k users) Do deleted answers sort by score among visible answers here on MSE? Or is it something being rolled out? A bug? It's never been like that on Aviation for example (example).

@MetaAndrewT. Well that some people are jerks and don't respect personal boundaries... is kinda sad in itself
04:40
Also on that note, I've always considered referring to people by their handles, online or IRL to be unremarkable and part of geek/internet culture

So I just saw a post meta.stackexchange.com/q/368973/1059647 and was wondering. I’m on mobile and the sticky bar is that where your avatar and the inbox and everything is that will be non sticky now? If so that’s stupid. That’s the reason why I liked responsive view cause I always had access to it
No, other way around; there's now no way to disable the stickiness.

07:52
@MetaAndrewT. That's an environmental hazard...
08:07
@Luuklag Can we skip the years of arguing about that, and just install a filter? :P
@Mithical userscript?
If mobile, possible only for Firefox from what I've seen.
userscript on mobile is tricky thing. Not fully supported.
@Shree even Firefox? Never tried myself, but saw posts saying it does work there.
Yep not fully supported. Works but ........
@Tinkeringbell not when it is one similar to the ones used on cigarettes, they are an environmental hazard as well ;)
08:21
@Luuklag I was thinking using a coffee filter.
As long as it doesn't make coffee at the same time we should be fine then :)
09:10
Looks like Smoked Vodka!
@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 That just looks like it's been there for years without dusting XD
Dusty coffee? Notes of musk and a hint of mouldy sock....
I'm not sure what you put in your dust.... but mouldy sock?!
Go do the laundry...
2
09:40
@JourneymanGeek Please don't add Musk to your coffee. Judging by myself, I'd say he wouldn't appreciate being dipped in coffee.
._.
Well played
@VLAZ But maybe the rest of the world would enjoy it...

@Tinkeringbell I guess that might be true.

Hey @Mithical
how go your adventures making life difficult for your team
Well, i'm doing my utmost, but they're just so damned competent....
I'm gonna have to work harder. Really put my shoulder into it.
If you can't put your foot in your mouth you're just going to have to try harder, yep.
12:43
I haven't been that flexible in decades.
Actually, this week is about trying to make life easier for my team. I'm spending my life doing interviews.
Seeing if we can't get them some help.
Ooh, more interviews? T&S this time?
yup
some really great candidates too.
Cesar outdid himself in finding these folks. It's going to be difficult to choose. (I always feel that way at the end of hiring though... I want to hire 'em all.)
@Philippe Well, you didn't start with much :/
So... its needed
You speak truth.
@Philippe I think I've heard that line from a few past CMs
@Philippe Oh, I've been complaining about it to anyone who'd listen for a bit. It'll be a good day when I stop ;)
12:54
Once i get these two hired, i think i've got maybe one more position that i'm asking for and then I need to sit quietly for a while, else Teresa may come after me with the sharp stick.
Just tell her she's not allowed, employees can't be poked with sharp sticks. Says so in the job description.
@Mithical apparently
not any more
It turns out, its' not in allllll JDs.
Mine, for instance.
@Philippe I think its one of the old SE traditions that got forgotten as time went on, and things got more corporate and srs.
That does sound unfortunate.
12:55
Oh, I view it as an opening to manage the way I want to. HR, unfortunately, disagrees.
No accounting for taste, but they seem to be solidly anti-sharp stick
No pointy sticks. As a representative of the community I insist.
...because I have a history of listening? <ouch>
As a representative of the community as well, I must put forth the opinion that sharp sticks have a time and a place.
12:57
Mith, this is why you're my favorite.
@Philippe good luck trying to poke me with a sharp stick from across the ocean, though ;P
This talk of jobs reminds me I need to probably update folk on the one I hopefully am on the pipeline for :D
@JNat Pointy Poking Sticks, as a service...
its the next big thing
your doorbell rings, and poke
@JNat I dunno, those little quadcopter drones keep getting more advanced...
@JourneymanGeek Can be replaced with a wet trout upon request.
12:58
seems like a liability for the company offering that service xD
Well a wet noodle isn't a pointy stick either
A dry noodle, though...
@JNat Nothing the right bribes insurance provider can't handle..
@Spevacus that's dangerously like a pointy stick.
Really hoping the front desk wouldn't let someone up to my door carrying a sharp stick...
OH Jnat. Jnat, Jnat. So innocent. Thinking I wouldn't cross an ocean.
13:02
@Philippe well, covid does make that a little difficult...
Never underestimate the lengths I'll go through to poke someone with a sharp stick when merited.
10
OK, i'm off to go face a day of meetings. Thanks for everything you do!
Rob

13:27
@RyanM A modern drone can travel more than half the circumference of the Earth; carrying more than the weight of a pointy stick.
@Rob Wow, that is...quite a bit further than I would have expected.
Rob
Rob
and it's a little old, as are a dozen others with similar range; a few can travel for weeks / months / years.
14:10
@Mithical wet trouts, that's been a long time ago
14:21
@Rob Yeah I seen some pictures of aerial refueling of drone's
15:02

Thank you, Kevin.
@Mithical 'grats, all you need now is to be downvoted and to downvote once!
It's okay, I'm not that obsessive. ;)
I'm sure Mith has said something objectionable on MSE...somewhere...sounds hard to find, though.
15:37
@Mithical I'm honored :P
15:47
Grats Mith :) Halfway to 100k!
16:13
@KevinB that an editorial comment? ;)
@Mithical go, go! Your reward is to be poked with a sharp stick.
16:25
Can anyone tell till when is a user who joined a meta site called a new contributor? I couldn't find any dup in MSE
@JitendraSingh IIRC it's a week from their first post - yep, documented here
shorter non-MSE version here
Thanks @Ryan thanks those were the links I was finding
Just to be exact, 1 week after the first visible post. Users who deleted all their posts, then posting something will be shown as a "new contributor" again.
@magisch Y'all got watches? :O
@V2Blast You don't? :P

@Rob I never got my second one though :(
@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 brews a cup of chamomile tea for @3tp
@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 tea for three true positives?
@Mithical onwards to 100k
@Ollie it's 3 tea pots
@Ollie yeah poor souls can use some hot beverage.
Even spammers are human, you know. Well, sometimes. :D
16:59
@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 giving true positives a hot drink encourages them to come back and makes life harder for me.
On the bright side, it does pile up the "helpful flags" list.
Oh wait it's all the same spammer. Meh, he'll have lots of tea.
@SmokeDetector good, chamomile tea is a calming drink. Maybe they'll relax for a bit.
@Ollie hehe, that said, today we got people who are COVID positive get back to Israel on airplanes after faking a false result. So annoying. Wish they'll spend years in jail. (Some got caught, but it's only several out of hundreds.)
@Ollie or switch to relaxing kind of spam? ;)
And stuff like that is why this pandemic is going on for so long... ffs...
@Ollie totally true, yeah.
17:02
@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 relaxed spam is when they don't bother to try to avoid detection. That stuff is easier.
It's when they're hyper-focused that I start gnashing my teeth.
@Ollie heh, do they really have ways to avoid being detected? The common trick of hiding link in punctuation is already handled by Smokey. :D
Rob
Rob
@Tinkeringbell There's a StackApp for that: stackapps.com/q/8176/58236
Currently hardest to detect is spammers who have spam only in their profile, then they post fake questions (or answers) so they get links to profile and the spam in it.
@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 certain people have used Unicode to mask rude words in the past; or they could just stick it in the profile...
@Rob Eh. I don't have a smartwatch, just a fitness tracker.
17:05
For some odd reason I don't like the concept of smartwatch. Maybe old fashioned, maybe just being weird. But it just doesn't tick for me.
:P
@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 Exactly.
I mean... watch should be a watch. It should tick, it should show the time. And that is it.
Order must be preserved, not chaos where a watch is also a computer, phone, and coffee machine.
:D
Oh, and a wallet.
Rob
Rob
Needs laser too.
@ShadowWizardIsVaccinatedV3 with mechanical fangs for the pickpockets.
17:38
@Tinkeringbell I don't own any watches
@V2Blast That's going on the 'fun facts' list. Why? :D
i mean
i own one watch, that i haven't touched in... 12 years maybe?
battery died before i ever wore it
... XD That's bad
I have a few, but I mostly only wear the fitness tracker lately. The fancy watch needs a new battery, I think the SO one does too.
i find them redundant, and anything that is redundant that occasionally gets in the way just stops getting used
Most people I see still wear one.
17:42
back in school I always had a pocket watch
i still do today, just now i call it a phone
Ah, yeah... I prefer watches over peeling a phone from a pocket...
i'm also... effectively always near or at a computer... or a device with a clock (oven/coffeemaker/microwave/tv,) or in a vehicle (all modern ones have clocks,) it's... more of an accessory now days
guess in a sense it's always been an accessory
It's true that I mostly look at the time on a computer too... see if the workday has finally ended :P
The fitness tracker is nice though, if you wake up in the middle of the night, it's much less bright than looking at the phone.
@Ollie Oh, no.
18:27
@Tinkeringbell I just use the clock on my phone
or my computer
18:46
Last I had a smartwatch I was using it for notifications and step counting....
Thinking of another one but undecided on what to get
Hello
@JourneymanGeek I noticed in an answer yesterday you said you use SE on mobile heavily. what browser do you use and do you use it portrait or landscape to browse the site
I must be old-fashioned... but it's easier to glance at a watch than look up the time on a phone.
(for me)
my phone shows the time just from me picking it up
Mine doesn't, obviously XD
19:03
which has the downside of showing my notifications from just picking it up
Most times I have my phone near me, I'm not at home. So that also often includes situations where just picking it up to look at the time would be rude.... with an analog watch, you can just glance at your wrists ;)
It's still not totally un-obvious, but it's easier than using a phone.
Though with the fitness tracker, I usually just set a silent alarm. Works too.
