@SonictheCuriouserHedgehog You don't have blacklist manager privileges, but I've created PR#5314 for you.

aaah... the smell of festive season... cough cough LOTSA SMOKEE! 😷

8:24 AM
In the IOS or Android App, if you would write an MathJax question or answer, do you get a preview and if yes, does it show MathJax correctly?
23 messages moved to Chimney

@rene I don't think so surprisingly yes, even if they're using the /render API: api.stackexchange.com/docs/render-question
but needs to choose site that supports MathJax first
and Mathjax on title doesn't render at all
(on Android app)

8:46 AM
that is surprisingly indeed.
Can you try what happens if you put the MathJax inside a blockquote? A bit like what is done here: stats.stackexchange.com/questions/365764/…

wait, I can use the edit feature on that post to see how it renders on the app
@rene it renders correctly for the preview
is there a bug report about this?

9:32 AM
A Yaakov and an anti-Yaakov cancel each other out, right?

9:46 AM
I think they would disappear, so...

9:56 AM
@SonictheCuriouserHedgehog as I said before... I don't consider it anti-Yaakov, so no. :)
@JNat cross site spammer for your gentle care. Thanks!

10:08 AM
@MetaAndrewT. No, or I didn't search for it. I'm trying to understand if the /render endpoint makes sense in order to determine if it matches the current post rendering.
The mathjax stuff just puts me off in what /render returns. See my deleted answer for context: meta.stackexchange.com/questions/354142

11:08 AM
@rene after cracking investigating the Android app further, the app contains MathJax.js (among other extensions like TeX and Prettify) and applies them depending on the supported site. So, to answer the question about /render endpoint... "not really" :/

11:28 AM
@YaakovEllis remind me to complain about question 8 after winterbash :D

@JourneymanGeek They're random :P

ah dang :D

Even better: There's 15 of em so you can technically just 'reset' until you get a set of 10 you know ;)

oh, I looked up the ones I didn't
but I can't complain about it without giving away the answer :D

I played it again this morning until I had seen all 15 ;)
You can complain to Yaakov on Twitter, I did that last night and he fixed something ;) But besides that one, all the other ones make sense :)

11:46 AM
what is this? Some winterbash game with questions?

user707129
Is it disallowed to ask help with a SEDE query if it helps me to answer a question?

user707129

Q: Can you help a poor unicorn to find its way back home?

Yaakov EllisOur poor /unicorn Sparkles got lost, and is stuck in a never ending loop of dashing and jumping. While it may be fun to watch him run and to make him jump, he does need some help to find his way back home. Once upon a Wint Bash morrow, while I pondered, full of sorrow Over endless db rows record...

@Xnero I completed without SEDE, so I guess that's a hint...
but since there are 15 questions, I don't know (yet) the rest of the 5 questions

user707129
I have no idea how you're meant to know some of these questions.

@Xnero The answers are all on SE somewhere. You have to hunt for them :)
@Xnero Hint. SEDE is out of date - it only gets updated on Sundays?

user707129
11:59 AM
@DavidPostill SEDE helped with some of my answers. Anyway, it's more up to date than wherever the answers are published on SE because I assume they would have been published before last Sunday.

12:13 PM
@Xnero The questions were only written a couple of days ago AFAIK

user707129
Weird, SEDE gives me a wrong answer.

@Xnero ooooh, thanks

@Xnero there is one question where you get different answers on site search and sede. Both are considered correct

user707129
@YaakovEllis Weird as from what I can see there is no mistake in the SEDE query. Can you confirm what question that is?

@Xnero not at the moment

12:25 PM
@DavidPostill yes, starting at 03:00 UTC but be patient when you're waiting for all results to be in ...

user707129
@YaakovEllis Ok.

I got my hat, though there was one question I could've sworn I had the right answer to but couldn't get to be accepted...got it with a different set of 10, though.
though maybe I was just confused by the second tab opened to, err, serenade me...
it was a fun scavenger hunt :-)

user707129
@RyanM Same, I used the answer from SEDE but it didn't work.

The one question I tried to answer using SEDE, it accepted
The one I had trouble with would not have been answerable via SEDE

user707129
I used SEDE for 2, one was accepted and one wasn't.

12:30 PM
Theoretically speaking there could be questions for which the correct answer changes every day ...
I'll say no more.

user707129
@DavidPostill I assume it will take SEDE's current answer.

user707129
@RyanM I wonder which one you had trouble with but I can't ask :)

@RyanM which one did you have trouble with (general topic ok to say)?

@YaakovEllis It was one that was answered with a year

good to get familiar with the contests website my friend

12:43 PM
Yeah, I think I must've just been in the timeout and not realized

@Xnero It didn't yesterday when I got the hat. Things may have changed since then as Yaakov has been tweaking stuff.

1:17 PM
Because why not, an opportunity shouldn't be wasted.
in Winter Bash 2020 on The Stack Exchange Network Chat, 4 hours ago, by Yaakov Ellis
@Derpy I almost put in a question about Shadow
Wouldn't want the Tavern to not get to know this and mook @Shadow forever
next username "Shadow the almost got in one question Wizard"

And the answer is inside the Den...

1:56 PM
@SPArcheon that's almost an honor! :D
But my biggest pride so far lies with Shog calling me "King of Pings". :-)

"Shadow the almost honored by getting in a question Wizard"?

Guess the question was going to be "Which user love to ping and annoy random people on chat?" ;)
Or if he's going with dry stuff, "which non-mod user can close any question on MSE at will?" ;)

in Winter Bash 2020 on The Stack Exchange Network Chat, 5 hours ago, by Derpy
Now I kinda hope for a "Which user is best known for scolding Shadow when he is uncouth?"

hmm it can become less trivial...

this was my original proposal

1:58 PM
@ShadowtheHatterWizard Five?

Rob
@ShadowtheHatterWizard Ping of Kings

@Mithical bug, support, feature-request, discussion, and... umm... wait... only four? lol
@SPArcheon trivial for those here, almost impossible for those outside. Perfect. :D
@Rob @King isn't pingable. ;(

@ShadowtheHatterWizard Non-mod, non-former-staff *
Jeff Atwood, Shog9, and balpha otherwise qualify

@RyanM former staff can't either. Oh wait, Tim can?
@RyanM oh, bummer.
feeling ordinary again
:D

Those three particular former staff can. You're the only one who's never been staff.

2:06 PM
My coffee got cold while I switched to winter wardrobe. :(
Took me whole 15 minutes.
Luckily didn't have to touch the underwear and socks drawers, that could become nasty. :D
I have the winter socks together with summer socks, using them sometimes at nights even not during winter.
And no winter underwear since army, not cold enough.
@RyanM but I do have a staff! ;)

@ShadowtheHatterWizard Hmm, a technicality that I had not considered...darn wizards.

Another possible question: "Who is the most chatty user who love to also chat with himself in Tavern?" :D

@ShadowtheHatterWizard Definitely @M.A.R.

@Tinkeringbell not anymore :(
He's MIA for long periods of time, so lost that title. ;)

Rob
@ShadowtheHatterWizard But has his own Wikipedia page.

2:21 PM
@ShadowtheHatterWizard He drops by IPS chat from time to time, so he's still alive ;)

@Rob nice!
@Tinkeringbell I know, I found him on ELL chat yesterday and scolded him a bit. :D
It's funny to watch teens grow into adults over the years, leaving the nest. :P

@ShadowtheHatterWizard At least you weren't tricked by an incomplete description on a page.
Quiz Time Everypony!!!!

@SPArcheon well guess that part is finally due ;)

You must have a total score of 100 in at least 20 non-community wiki answers to achieve this badge.
^ what requirement is missing in this line?

@SPA what about it? It's the tag badge description.
@SPArcheon "not on your own questions"?

2:25 PM
@ShadowtheHatterWizard that is my question for the room. That description is incomplete, and thinking about it it is time I post a meta nitpick about it to collect some downvotes

Rob
@ShadowtheHatterWizard M.I.A. M.A.R. - missing 35 minutes.

@ShadowtheHatterWizard see the meta post I just made.
Also included for your enjoyment the reason I was annoyed by that.

@SPArcheon oh, I had no idea too, lol. +1

Why does that requirement even exist?

@RyanM probably to prevent abuse?

2:37 PM
@RyanM to annoy me and keep me away from the My-Little-Pony badge

@ShadowtheHatterWizard I'm sort of struggling to imagine the sort of abuse it would prevent. Surely if anything, it encourages additional abuse by requiring more questions to have the tag.

@RyanM And even if one could "abuse" getting a BRONZE badge, it is worth nothing
The one with special powers is the gold one, and that is a score of 1k, not that easy to get.

So maybe worth asking to remove that requirement?

2:53 PM
I fear that the reasoning is that they don't want to have too much badges on "low weight" tags
nothing to do with abuse.

Is waffles an official source though?
> The 100 question requirement is there to ensure the tag is widely used prior to a badge being granted. Gaming wise, this means you can not simply go to your 20 best questions and tag them "foo" to get the "foo" badge.
and this is a formula for a suspension....
Also....
A DELETED SKEET POST???
WITH ACTUAL "ERRORS"?

@SPArcheon Yes

@RyanM then I guess that all is left is for you folks in the room is to... post the missing required questions as a Christmas gift

@SPArcheon /me rephrases question about whether this requirement should be removed as a question about whether Fluttershy would think it should be removed

3:00 PM
Go forth and earnth me the badge my loyal subjects! Post more!

Rob
@RyanM The deleted answer (10K) is funny.

@RyanM I fear it will have to stay. It was just lame to discover it after reaching the required score
Happened quite a bit ago now, but Shadow mentioning tags-badge made me remember that.

Well, I just wrote a post proposing removing it

Rob
3:21 PM
Commented.
@Glorfindel, I got the Taxonomist for winter-bash-2019, in a few days.

3:44 PM
ohh too late

Here we go again

@ShadowtheHatterWizard Discord

@ShadowtheHatterWizard so... the wizard's staff DOES have a knob at the end...

@Zoethe1337Princess what about it? I miss something funny? ;)

3:57 PM
You should take a look at your DMs :eyes:

@Νеvеrꭑoꭇе you took over @SPArcheon? ;)
@Zoethe1337Princess oh oops, think it failed to push a notification! Will do!
I use Line these days, for CC.

@ShadowtheHatterWizard As I said, the merge and stuff. The more tired I get, the less I notice what account it is using at the moment.

@JourneymanGeek of course... ;)
@SPArcheon that's more funny than sad. Well done! :D

At least I can do the Huey Dwey Louie speak

But I would need a third account.
anyway, that was not the plan, sorry for the confusion
That said, back to editing this hat into its final form....
Yaakov can't fool me, this is not a cake.

4:17 PM

@JourneymanGeek Of course no, can't you see it is a CAR?

actually looks like you're trying to bash down a wall

> My other thought is for users who haven't hit 100k or 250k on one site, but have a total rep across multiple sites (yes, I count myself in this group: over 250k across the network, but no more than 60k on any one site). Will there be a "Masters of None" swag package?
That'd be interesting. 👀

@Tinkeringbell So, my father no longer eats deep-fried stuff due to some issues that came up earlier this year. I don't want him to be excluded, however. I tried searching online to see if there are any recipes for air-fried ones instead ("airbollen"), but all the recipes seem to be in Dutch.

10:47 PM
I can try and translate one for you, but it will have to wait until tomorrow
Just drop a link here?

10:59 PM
@SonictheCuriouserHedgehog You can simply use an online translator. (Of course, a human translator such as @Tink would be better.)

11:16 PM
To save time, you can just look at the Google translation of the pages and let me know of any differences between what it actually says and the machine translation.
Looking at the machine translations, both involve getting "oliebollen mix" (i.e. pre-made mix), which you can't get here in the States. It would be nice if I knew what to substitute.
Perhaps I can try one of the English-language recipes for normal oliebollen, and adapt it according to the Dutch ones above?
Yeah, I think I got it. I think I'll follow the instructions in this oliebollen recipe to make the raw balls, then follow the machine translation of the first link above to air-fry them.
