Friends (my apologies if you mind me calling you friends, but as Gandhi said if you owe less enemies in this world then you may probably use the word “friend” for almost every acquaintance) If a person is not performing well in exams/entrances tests but have have so much desire to work in research projects can he be ever successful in his research field? Success, of course, doesn’t mean a break-through.

Well, you know, we should first define "desire". Would I love to be a respected pilot and travel around the world and hear pleasantries all the time? Sure. Would I love to be an Olympics athlete and a whole nation would cheer for me? Definitely. The positive emotion we feel when we daydream about success is *something*, but it's not a good indicator of true desire for success.

Something you truly enjoy is defined according to its hardships. I do like to be a successful pilot, but I'm not willing to put up with all the jetlag and all the difficult exams and all the interpersonal skills requ…

@Knight Anyway, in addition to what @M.A.R. said so nicely, I'll say that actions speak louder than words. Do your own projects, your own research, outside the boundaries of whatever you didn't perform well in, and when it goes well, either send them the results, or go to a difference place that will have more respect for what you do.

@ShadowWizardWearingMask Why thanks :) I did type all of that out myself at that moment but the response isn't entirely made up on spot. I'd answered something like that a while ago when someone was clueless about which major to choose in the university. This is what makes sense to me. Most forms of success are appealing to people but it doesn't make sense to say people love doing almost any sort of work. This is the only way these two contradictions would match.
