naw, I'm not going to :D
Besides, I need the RAM for the neural net

6:02 PM
Sounds like you need a VServer or similar to start pingbombs from there ^^

I need a GPU farm :D

<rant> I'm trying to get Prism.Ninject.Forms to run for 3 days now.. i guess i needa shoot myself. Just cause i thought - hey why don't u use that fancy framework everyone talks about and that is "so fuckin stable and easy to use" .. use prism they said.. it will be easy they said </rant>
I should also play around with some funny stuff instead of trying to write an app i can sell later on ^^

Don't use frameworks @tobi. That's at least my experience. There's aaaaalways a bug you can't fix

6:52 PM
Well i'm running the - I write everything by myself aproach - for more than 5 years now. I'm creating a huge framework at work and so i do at home. But i came to a point where i hoped to save lots of time using a framework microsoft developed and later first and opensourced it later. I've been at a pretty big .NET developer coference where people told me of that framework and how much time i could save .. so i wanted to give it a try but what i'm experiencing is a complicated thing ..
that just does not work in a new project i just started with no other dependencies.
And it f**king dies with an ArgumentNullException in the framework code - i even used a template to create the project. And the only answer on SO to that problem is "Use another framework" xD
So yes.. fuck that frameworks. And still i want to get that thing to run

I only go as far as libraries with really few exceptions
@TobiasTheel but yeah, common problem :D

8:04 PM
@KennyBOT silence!

@TobiasTheel write a program with Prism that will shoot your head. :D
@PrincessLuna but you're using one too... you just told me few days ago... ;)

tensorflow is a library

2 days ago, by Princess Luna
Creating TF would take years xD
library, framework... same...

no
Flask is a framework

8:09 PM
What's the difference?

You call code in a library, while a framework would call your code
i.e. library:
someLibClass.someMethod()
framework:
public class Whatever extends SomeLibClass{
     public void someMethod(){...}
}

jQuery is a library, so you say don't use jQuery but just plain JavaScript? @Princess @Tobi
jQuery does save tons of time, and is indeed easy to use though.

you say "use jquery", just like you'd say "use tensorflow" or "use LWJGL". It's basically "use this library"

> jQuery is a cross-platform JavaScript library designed to simplify the client-side scripting of HTML. It is free, open-source software using the permissive MIT License

@PrincessLuna Intresting definition
@PrincessLuna but there are more definitions of framework floating the web and brains of people :D

Q: What is the difference between a framework and a library?

anbanmWhat is the difference between a framework and a library? I always thought of a library as a set of objects and functions that is focused around solving a particular problem or around a specific area of application development (i.e. database access); a framework on the other hand is a collectio...

There are also libraries which call themselfs frameworks, but are libraries using that definition ^^

@TobiasTheel head spinning
fake libraries

8:17 PM
@PrincessLuna huh, surprised it's not deleted yet.
It will be soon though, SO high rep users are deleting all old questions that are now off topic.

there are three reopen votes though

One is my own, but it won't get two more.
And soon users will start to cast delete votes. Think they need around 10 with that score, but it will surely happen. Delete votes don't expire.

it did just get one more

Useless too though, it will just be closed again.

@PrincessLuna that question has significance and good answers. It adds value to SO why should some high rep users close vote & delete vote that?

8:21 PM
If it's off-topic it should be locked, because it is significant (even though considered off-topic)
It doesn't look off-topic to me though
and there are 154 questions tagged terminology that aren't duplicates that are closed
there are 1730 asked, meaning those questions are on-topic

<sarcasm> Let's burnitate the terminology tag! </sarcasm>

YES! BRILLIANT IDEA! IDEA OF THE CENTURY! BURN IT ALL!
+ 10 BILLION POINTS TO @TOBIAS!

@sha @pro progress ^

@TobiasTheel I've seen qustions with 1000+ score and answers with 1000+ score deleted by ordinary users. They love to keep the place... clean.
And don't care about how helpful something is.
So to sum it up... Stack Overflow high rep users, as a community, do not care for score a bit. If they see old question which is off topic they will close and delete it. I think @rene can confirm that, not sure if he's taking part in this or not though.

^
You could just flag the question for the mods and at least ask them to lock it

I can't judge them, they consider this as just useless noise, and since SO is run by community, that's how it should work, in a sense. Since I toally disagree with this way and find it harmful, I stopped taking part years back when I realized that's the direction it's going to, so focused only in MSE. I just hope it won't cause too much damage in the long run.

8:32 PM
true

@PrincessLuna nah.... there are hundreds, probably thousands like this. mods won't lock them all with historical lock.

@ShadowWizard MSE? Meta Stack Exchange?

Ordinary lock is bad idea, since users will just keep flagging it asking to delete. @Pri

no, locking removes flagging

@PrincessLuna no. Only historical lock.
You can flag locked questions.

8:33 PM
really?
oh

Yup
Historical lock is a very strong version of locking.
So should be used rarely.

@ShadowWizard i stumbled upon 2 different blogs on some hackspace sites today which stated the same. the authors stop taking part in SO, cause the community behaves "harmful" against itself. Note - these posts were several years old
And that's sad in my opinion, cause SO is a great "tool"

@TobiasTheel yeah... I'm not familiar with those, but makes sense such blogs exist. I don't hate SO, just... stepped back from moderating it.
Those who hate SO are mainly focused on the new questions being closed/downvoted/deleted on spot... which is usually justified IMO.

@ShadowWizard What did I screw up?

@rene hehe, not you... maybe... just ranting about questions with thousands of upvotes being deleted from SO just because they're old. (and became off topic over the years.)
Closing is fine. But deleting? No.

deletez all the zings

I chose not to fight it since it's useless and a lost battle, as there are hundreds of users who are into it, who shape SO community.
but.. it still annoys me from time to time. :)

8:51 PM
Good! That means you still care about this site ...

Sure, it's still part of SE... ;)

@ShadowWizard I was typing a comment, you nasty deletionist! ... ;)

You already posted your canned comment...
What other comment you were typing?
:)
I deleted whole minute after you posted the comment... you were about to mention this being homework and off topic everywhere?

something like bugger off with your homework

lol
flagging @rene's unposted comment :P
You're using a script to post the canned comment, or just copy&paste it every time? @rene

8:59 PM
Well, if that is the criteria ... I might as well hand in my credentials
@ShadowWizard autocoment pro-forma script

@ShadowWizard this one: stackapps.com/questions/2116/…
@ShadowWizard you don't have many close vote reviews

@rene lol there is a script for that? why am i still using sublime to copy/paste a "default" comment, to guide users to [mcve] and How to Ask (+ some other stuff)

@TobiasTheel we host a whole website for it: comments.socvr.org to support the ones in the repo: github.com/SO-Close-Vote-Reviewers/auto-comments/tree/master/…

> "could not connect to project for heather-eggnog.glitch.me: 503 - \"project could not be started\""
But yeah... I didn't really take part in the beginning, then got annoyed at what I saw, so never really started.
But I was very active in reviewing suggested edit... :)

@ShadowWizard you broke it ... :( ... I send you the bill

lol
eating bill
!!feed @rene's bill for breaking heather-eggnog project

@ShadowWizard looks like whole glitch.com is down

@sha @pro the reply quality is going up quickly. I'm at the 17th epoch or something (4 yesterday + 13 so far today). If I can run all day tomorrow I can get it up even more

@rene o_O
@PrincessLuna good!

It's starting to make sensible replies, but it's highly limited by training data. Once I get it to start collecting its own data, it'll get better
and I can probably add a universal name character to shorten the vocab, use NLP in the grammar scrubbing and symbol removal to replace all names found with a single token
it would save a lot of memory later

Welp, I guess I'll get started on the commands while I wait. I can fix the NN later

So... Command suggestions? :D
