Oh, oh, me too, me too! I have a Samsung 23" monitor. (:

@waffles

5 hours later…
6:34 AM
I see there is noone else here :(

It might pick up a bit later

You're the first person who has spoken to me in the last 4 hours :(
the :( is aimed at the fact that I am lonely, not that you spoke to me :-p

8 hours later…
3:05 PM
Hello world?

@NickCraver, you there?

Whoa, it lives

Hello chat

Hello :-)

3:57 PM
is this a ExSex thing? Every time I hear it suggested, I think of that site, and the lousy answers accepted by mods because the OP disappeared without ever bothering to clarify his question...

Q: Allow mod accept for deleted users

boboboboSometimes there's a question with an unaccepted answer that was asked by a currently inactive user. After a certain amount of time, the "community" should be able to accept an answer on behalf of inactive / deleted users, in case nothing was accepted

Ahoy! Anyone alive in here?

Nope. Just us undead.

brains......

And me.

'afternoon fellas

5:39 PM
how do I speak in the third person
/me slaps @NickCraver around with a large trout

5:58 PM
@NickCraver: found a jsFiddle bug for you earlier

@andy do tell
i'm writing a fun email to Crate&Barrel about how they shouldn't break links atm
ViewRegistry.aspx?grid=4506757 != View-Registry.aspx?grid=4506757

lol
@NickCraver: open an empty fiddle in Chrome (results vary by browser). Click on the HTML input and type <table>. Press return to go to the next line, then paste this: <tr class="FIELD"><td></td></tr>.
Like I said, results vary from browser to browser, no issues in IE at all but in others it ranges from the caret staying at the beginning of the line to pressing return at the end of the line causing the input to lose focus.

seems to be a \n vs \r\n issue

that's what I thought :-)
weird that it doesn't affect IE

will take a look after work, writing fun business logic linq seems to be the theme of the day today
IE's just \n iirc, or interprets the same on the keyCode

6:05 PM
good luck with that :)

well this is interesting...

gotta go all, going to get my head ripped off in a 9ball match.

haha, gl

ta :)

6:20 PM
it's taken me 5 minutes to realise where that sound is coming from

good evening (on my UTC)

Q: Please stop deleting retag-requests

Lance RobertsI've noticed that retag-requests are being deleted by Jeff. This seems like a new thing and not a good one. I've seen two today that were both created by Evan (one, two) [10k only], which had a total of 14 upvotes. Now he's going to lose half his rep, when both requests were reasonable (and im...

Still too much deleting going on.

7:04 PM
damn comment timer

@Shog Tag merges don't preclude those tags from being used in the future, right?

no

Exactly!

tags can be blacklisted, but that's a separate thing

I've made my point! I think!

7:14 PM
synonyms, however, do lock out future uses
what point?
FWIW, I didn't go looking for any of Evan's past retag requests - if they were of the "there are thirty questions tagged see-sharp, please merge with c#" sort, then it probably wasn't worth keeping them around
but there are retag requests that I would be upset to lose: winforms <-> windows-forms, ternary-operator <-> conditional-operator, win32 -> winapi...

so now there is no real rep reward for retag requests, since they'll all be deleted eventually.

well, considering they were originally intended to be "poll" questions, that doesn't especially bother me

It was always an incentive to go look for tags that needed cleaning up when I was trying to get to 10k.

I'm still not getting why anyone would try to get to 10k on meta
2

For the chicks.

7:18 PM
ah, right
Susan & Alice love the 10Kers

So we can see the deleted questions.
That's where all the good stuff is.

I've been rejected before (hard to believe, but true) and all they had to say was "How do I know you can follow through, if you can't even get 10k on META"

well, true enough

I think there was a moment there where we actually used chat in the sense that it was supposed to be used for.
for continuing discussions started on the site.

but finding them is a pain. There was a brilliant thread 'bout a year ago, someone essentially trying to badger Meta users into being more "serious" (not really defined). Got torn apart and deleted, but there were some hilarious comments - I have no idea how to find it though.

7:20 PM
link, or it didn't happen.

yep, I sure wish they'd enable 'isdeleted' functionality

status-counterproductive

Did you see the Pollyanna cataclysm thread they deleted last week (hit the 7d button)

(actually, I could probably find a link searching Wave, but that's beside the point)

Do Telerik still give a present when you get 10k rep on SO?

7:22 PM
status-synonymized

no.

What they should implement.

@shog what was it called?

when did they stop?

many moons ago.

7:26 PM
wow, this may actually predate Wave...

bahaha, I just noticed that there's an "ignore user" option here.

FOUND IT!
Ok - the title is, "Meta is becoming a sad and depressing place."

see if you can find that on MSO...

Who posted it?

Q: Meta users becoming negatively infatuated with others

Double WelbogI think we would do well to look at a user I'm going to be calling "Bob". Bob has an unhealthy obsession with another Meta user I'll be calling "Alice". Let's take a look at some examples to back up my claim: I have a better idea. How about a badge for narcissism? – Bob @Alice: I know you've h...

bah, there's a link to it on Meta. So bad example.

I couldn't find it. Whoops :S
nevermind, quick Bing search got it for me.

Bing doesn't search. Bing makes decisions for you.

And it decided to show me what I was looking for. Good Bing, Sit. Stay.

Bing told me to kill my boss

Whoops, I was flagged as spam/offensive here. I apologize to whomever I offended.
@Shog That was back when Cletus was still active.

7:47 PM
We all know that since cletus left Meta it has been hobbling with its spleen cut, gutted and dragging a bloody trail until he graces us with his presence once more.

Those are EXACTLY the words I would've used.
except I would've said "honours" instead of "graces"
minor quibble, but important.

Edit level rep means nothing here?

for me to edit you?
@U62 I'd report that as a bug, but then again, I don't know your boss.

(+1) for the reasons in the linked reply

The Girlfriend Experience is a 2009 experimental drama film shot in New York City. It is directed by Steven Soderbergh and stars adult film actress Sasha Grey. A rough cut was screened at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2009. The film has also been made available on Amazon Video on Demand as a pre-theatrical rental. Soderbergh mentioned Michelangelo Antonioni's Red Desert and Ingmar Bergman's Cries and Whispers as influences. The film is also notable because it was produced for 1.3 million dollars and was shot with a relatively inexpensive RedOne camera. Plot Christine (alias Chel...

yo, Hanselman in the house!

9:09 PM
I'd yawn but I'd hate to wake anyone up

wakes up

Whoa. Binned.

Binned?

whata revoltin' development this is
also, Chat Feedback is completely swamped.

With talk about this?

9:13 PM
i turned away from chat feedback to other things, too much scrolling ;)

HA!
no. Hanselman showed up, and apparently brought friends. They're learning about Markdown.

I like it here. It's homely.

bread and wine, without the wine please!

@Shog. Whoa. Deleted and Locked.

It's going to be slow on meta for awhile
Just like in the days after Rich B was booted.

9:18 PM
I don't approve of this at all.

@ThomasMcDonald that's just me

I didn't think it was that bad in here...

Well, I'm off to bed.
Decided it's time I started going earlier and then getting up at some reasonable time

hmmm... i know that problem.

I'm guessing it's not 4 in the afternoon where you are.

9:20 PM
23:20 over here

@devinb: surprising they didn't draw and quarter it just to be sure...

Whaddaya gonna do? Ref blew the call. Can't call it back.

You wait. When it happens again, maybe you'll see the signs earlier.

Maybe it'll be me!
I'd get a promotion at work!

9:38 PM
le sigh You know it's time to restart your browser when FB posts start "randomly" disappearing.

You mean because sometimes you accidentally see them?

2 hours later…
11:51 PM
in case anyone else with 10k on SO hasn't happened across the meta thread, might want to check that out
