A: jQuery scrollTop() does not work in scrolling DIV on mobile browsers, alternatives?

hitecherikTry using jQuery's .animate method: $('.div').animate({ scrollTo: x; }); Where x is equal to the position of the div you want to scroll to the top of.

@ProgramFOX yeah…
What should be done with that? It is kinda wrong...
See my comment
Actually, it's this: $('.div').animate({ scrollTop: x });UNICYCLEZ R DE BEST IN DE HERE 1 min ago

You may have asked it, but 50 other people upvoted it; I consider it a reflection of the zeitgeist on Stack Overflow and Stack Exchange. We've traditionally ignored chat when it comes to defining moderation duties, and the result has been a set of wildly conflicting ideas and ideals when it comes to how chat is treated... Both by those who use it, and by those who probably should use it. It has become, frankly, an embarrassment to many. — Shog9 ♦ 7 mins ago

@NormalHuman funny do you use in the US the word Zeitgeist? That is German.
@NormalHuman Bah, is that Jaydles's post?
I'm not looking at those pictures again.
@rekire Are you yet another German I met? :)
@Ϻ.Λ.Ʀ. I think so ;)
user259867
15:52
@rekire Yes, afaik Google popularized it with their Google Zeitgeist feature. I wouldn't use it in a bar conversation, but I know it.
@rekire Englishers use a variety of languages to speak English. Most common ones they use are French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese etc.
English is so hospitable to changes, unlike other languages.
How else would it have become the international language so easily?
user259867
It seems that Google dropped the word eventually, renaming the feature to Year in Search
I know some more words like Rucksack or Doppeltgänger which I found in an English book. I know that other languages influence others but that I know only very view cases where this happens.
lol I love how the mods more or less see the main language chat rooms as a disgrace
But in the end nothing is really done about it
Which isn't a bad thing, it's just a cycle of user/mod talking that leads to the same results xD
user259867
Implement a "export to Slack" button...
15:56
@rekire Of course all languages influence each other less or more. But English isn't reluctant to change, accepting new vocabulary etc. unlike, like, three fourths of all the human languages that exist.
user259867
SF users decided a while back they didn't want to talk about things (such as their employers) in a public chatroom, permanently logged in a searchable transcript. So they stopped doing that.
It's also cultural. Some viewpoints, like ones found in South Asian cultures, state that any foreign word, if used by a native speaker, pollutes and degrades the language. Of course, they feel their mother tongue is being invaded by English.
@SterlingArcher what do you mean nothing is done about it?
Hey when did Tavern turn into Language Overflow? O.o
A couple people get suspended, fits are pitched, but in the end, the chats just revert to their old trolly selves
@bluefeet in no way am I intending that as an insult to mods btw.
Love you guys.

[ SmokeDetector ] Pattern-matching website in answer: What are the differences between cherubim and seraphim? by Jelz on christianity.stackexchange.com
@SterlingArcher well part of the problem is chat was ignored for quite a while. Moderating it can't solely fall on the SO mods, some of the responsibility is on the room owners to keep things clean. We are actively working on a few things to hopefully improve it
user259867
sigh and I just wanted for things to get pinned/unpinned when it makes sense...
@UNICYCLEZRDEBESTINDEHERE What?
@bjb568 How some people don't know apostrophe and backtick
16:07
@bluefeet just a thought, but maybe include ROs in this working?
To an extent at least
@SterlingArcher With only 18 SO mods and hundreds of chatrooms, they can't be every where all the time. Some of the ownership has to go to the owners of the rooms.
@bluefeet I still think the RO powers are too limited.
@UNICYCLEZRDEBESTINDEHERE ok
@Ϻ.Λ.Ʀ. It's not really too limited. IMO part of the problem is they are invested in the community/room and sometimes are hesitant to reign in a conversation that has gone off the rails.
Yeah, I know everyone can become an RO and that's a problem, but real RO's have a problem with moderating when there's real trouble going on.
16:14
@bluefeet @SterlingArcher It is evident that in the latest day there have been a whole lot of chat related "incidents", with a majority of them actually begin room users discovery they were actually supposed to follow the "Be Nice" rules regardless of they (uncouth) "Room Cultures". It is also pretty evident that the staff is more actively monitoring the situation, and this resulted in an increase of direct intervention by the SE crew members.
We also know that @Shog9 is working on a revised policy for the chat room, one that I personally hope will make clear that while a bad word can slip in sometime (not if you are a pony, but you aren't all so lucky) really bad "jokes" should and must be avoided.
I think that the only addition that Shog should make is "our rules > your room rules"
@Braiam If I was the mod here, I would use the old version we had on my old UO server "Thank you, that one here is the door. Please close it as you leave". Luckily, Shog do not banish bad user to the moon on the first infraction, so he is willing to try a soft approach.
I hope his trust will be valued.
@Ϻ.Λ.Ʀ. RO are a little of a strange case. It is weird - each of them is capable to kick out of RO each other one.
I wonder if having a dedicated role could be better.
Community elected chat moderators? With the only purpose to keep chat polite?
I don't know, feel like an overkill.
Also, RO's should be able to delete messages of their chat. Ideally, if mods are too worried of misuse, the delete time would be limited to a day or less, and too much deletions would raise an auto-flag.
@Ϻ.Λ.Ʀ. Create a new room. Call it "Shog9 Lair". Move the bad message there. Wait till Shog notices them. Party.
@Derpy The point is to avoid waiting.
16:27
@Ϻ.Λ.Ʀ. Nope. The real point should that folks shouldn't be tolerating that.
@Derpy Or, if I wait long enough, the world will end and I wouldn't have to worry about them.
I can live with the Shadow Den posting an uncouth word in their Word Association Game. I can't really avoid begin worried when an entire chat room seem to think that the one that flagged that homophobia is fine and funny to have.
user259867
@Ϻ.Λ.Ʀ. ROs move messages to Trash room, or Sandbox or whatever it's called.
user259867
I don't know if the existence of Trash is a sanctioned use of the chat, but there it is.
@NormalHuman Trashcan, or Crashtan, so it's called. But it's not enough sometimes and it's not worth bothering a mod sometimes.
@NormalHuman There are two trashcans. One is public (for ROs), and one is seekrit (for mods).
Did I mention something seeekrit? Definitely not.
16:37
We don't have a moderation problem. The problem isn't that mods are incapable or don't react soon enough. We have a people problem. People think they are entitled to act that way. You will have to reform those people.
I don't know how, but trust me... unless they change we will go nowhere.
Add ability for mods to change people.
