Do you have snow in Winter in this latitude? (I have zero idea of the US's metereological conditions except that it snows a lot in the north (cf. "Fargo"), and doesn't in the south)

Normally, not very much. This winter has been an exception! We've had snow 4 times, this last time my area got over 6 inches!

I'm originally from the Boston, MA area, so I am used to it

@TheUnhandledException Right! Funny, same as here. This was the snowiest Winter in more than a hundred years, and the first white Christmas in 30 years

but here in North Carolina we normally only get maybe one snow a year, and it normally lasts only a few hours. There's still 1" of snow on the ground today from when iot last snowed, 12/25

@Pekka Fargo is in the north center. Seattle is also in the north, but is on the Pacific coast and has a much warmer climate (rain mostly).

A lot of folks down here are all up in arms about how this disproves Global Warming. I am not in agreement, the climate is clearly out of whack

I always thought Germany was cold and snowy, based on the extensive research I did (watching The Battle of the Bulge).

@MichaelMyers It's spelled absolutely right :) Yeah, it is close to both Belgium and The Netherlands, and used to be Germany's most important city during the middle ages. It's always been a place for people to visit and travel through, which probably is why I like it so much here

If you travel through central Europe by train, you'll end up here at least once; there's also the River

I am very familiar with Europe, but only as it appears on a map. Otherwise, if it's not in a Rick Steves travel show, I'm going to be pretty clueless.

@MichaelMyers it's similar for me with the US :) I definitely want to visit the US at some point; maybe if I get the chance (and can afford it) in some really extended form, like hitchhiking from coast to coast, or traveling by coach. Don't know, we'll see... But it would be nice
