Clearly there's some people out there who don't want the Pastafarian SE proposal to succeed. Most of them have cast anonymous downvotes and close votes. I suspect these people will have some constructive criticism that we Pastafarians can learn from, so I invite them to explain their positions....
The number of "convincing evidences" proving His noodly existence is equal to the amount of convincing evidences of other sacral creatures. If such a comment about "gigantic joke" appeared under a proposal of another religion, that would not only deeply insult the followers of mentioned religion, but would be also a criminal offense in several countries. Let's demonstrate more respect to FSM (let the strainer be with Him). P.S. :-)

@Stijn Actually, assuming that you are atheist, which I see as the mayor pastafarian prerequisite... that point could make sense. It is almost a self fulfilling claim: since you are atheist you don't recognize proofs of other religions, so you can claim that no one offers proof.

Welcome along. You got an Upvote within minutes, unusual for this corner of StackOverflow. Much more common than use of the LOCAL-STORAGE SECTION is use of the LINKAGE SECTION. The FILLER without any value is bad practice for a print line. When you see questions which are a simple typo or lack of basic language knowledge, please don't answer the question until it is improved. You'll get an idea of this from the comments, and from a negative score on the question (though here the OP was even more lucky than you with Upvotes). — Bill Woodger3 hours ago

Why do we close it? I'm confused. I haven't used COBOL in about 10 years, but it looks like an attempt to answer the question. It may be incorrect, but it seems like a good faith attempt
The question needs closing. It can attract a million answers which are correct and in good faith an useless to anyone who has learned COBOL for half an hour.
@BillWoodger I don't know COBOL, but would the equivalent in a 'modern' language be something like class Foo { int bar = 5; int baz = 10; bar += baz; Foo() { /* ctor */ } }?
Hard crowd here. We get few visits to COBOL tag, and the last really stupid question took days to close, so I went to MSO and found a suggestion to come here. Not such a simple solution as it turns out :-). But better than just closing on my say-so...

First shown was not accepted, but received a bounty! So it should have a blue (#07d) background, shouldn't it?

XSUM is not part of program ICETOOL (it belongs to SORT) and the example shown is of use of SORT not use of ICETOOL. End of problem and question is no use to anyone.
