@MarcGravell, yup. As it stands, you could just rename chat.meta. to chat., I'm not sure it would change much...

chat.meta was the public beta, so it follows that we have all dregs and urchins etc in here ;p

Actually, I'm really positive about how SF are using theirs now that it is available to all SF users. Lots of rooms on server/product themes

The thing with meta.chat is that it is still the beta, just communicated on things like the SO blog. Mainly the insanely addicted SO folks. When we have a broader spectrum of users I expect that some rooms will granulate along similar lines.

Still always a place for a tavern, though.

Yes, it's interesting to see how things develop here, the one-stop-hanging-out place is definitely the Tavern

I'm not sure that I've observed people coalescing into a discussion which they then take elsewhere to a new room.

I don't think I've ever seen enough different discussions going on that splitting into separate rooms was warranted

@MichaelMrozek, well conversations sometimes drift - I've seen stuff from here transferred over to chat feedback (and vice-versa), and sometimes across to sandbox.

But to me, it seems that subject-specific discussions have difficulty getting off the ground. But then I'm probably not in the right time-zone for seeing high activity...

Hmm, I rediscovered Boo last night, for some reason it's made me more excited about it than when I remember last looking at it. And despite the existence of Specter I think I might try creating an RSpec-esque BDD framework with it, to try and learn it :)

Does the Boo splash interesting live up to the program's name?

As long as the WebServices services are enabled and running on the farm. They are published automatically

@MichaelMrozek, yeah, I mention that in the post. I'd like to offer that, I've just never worked with generating images like this. I haven't found the magical String.ConvertHtmlToImage function yet. :P

@rchern My version uses khtml2png2 to essentially screenshot the HTML version. Not a very scalable solution :)

@badp I replaced the Gnome Menu with the small version (just an icon), trimmed date and seconds from the clock, and as removed the Empathy integration menu (you don't seem to be using that, either) and the Shutdown menu (I don't shutdown the system that often, and then it's in the Gnome menu->System->Shut down)

In other words, if Trac would work for you I could possibly host a Trac instance or two. But if you need dedicated hosting for your business, I couldn't really host you as my company doesn't have SLAs for Trac hosting

But I'm happy to host a Trac repo for anything Stack-y, like XMPP integration or StackFlair
