Is PI^PI a reference to something?

@PopularDemand A really irrational number :-)
To go along with a really irrational question

Bah. If you're going after irrational, I demand an i in there somewhere. Or a j , for you EEs out there.

@devinb, Good comment here.

A: Stack Overflow needs a public bugtracker; Meta Stack Overflow doesn’t cut it

Jeff AtwoodEvery "bug" is important and valid to the person who opened it. There's a bit of bias there, though, don't you think? In your specific case, I don't believe that is in any way a bug, but a [feature-request]. The real question is, can you get other people to vote for your "bug" and support it? I...

I feel like sometimes Jeff doesn't want to concern himself with the problems that exist.

Popular question.

He's someone who wants to move forward.

Yeh, I was really depressed today when I saw he [status-declined] the feature request to be able to search for deleted posts (for 10ks). He obviously hasn't had to go through a hundred pages of deleted posts trying to find one.
He's also been keeping a heavy deleting schedule. So we fixed the problem of too many posts being deleted to easy by the community, and switched it for the mods deleting a ton of questions.

I don't know. Searching deleted posts seems to counter the purpose of deletion.

Still no answer for this one:

Q: Tag box on top of Questions page doesn't show markdown backticks.

Lance RobertsIf you make a Tag Wiki entry, you can use the markdown backticks for emphasis and it shows it on the Tag info page. If you then go to the Tag Questions page, it just shows normal backticks. Tag Info Page: Tag Questions Page:

That's sort of valid.

It it was invalid, then they wouldn't let 10ks see them at all.
If they can see them, then they should be able to search them.
Like Cletus I'm losing faith that the community really has much input. Seems like we're just helping them not have to do tech support or testing.

Because if it deserves to be undeleted, it should be undeleted immediately.

The problem with Meta is that there aren't enough active 10ks to get things done quick enough.

Maybe we could take this up with balpha and marc. Because we have direct access to them, and we can see what it's like.

9:43 PM
I now check the 7d list every Monday to make sure I didn't miss any important deletions.
I'm pretty amazed this hasn't been deleted yet.

Q: Deleted Questions Archive

Lance RobertsSince the Team keeps deleting questions with lots of discussion both relevant and/or historical, and we can't search on deleted questions, and they lock some of them so that they cannot be undeleted, I'm putting this question out, just for links to be posted, so that those 10ks who want to find t...

signing off. We'll talk tomorrow.
But we should take all this heavy stuff to the Meta chatroom

later

@devinb see ya!

Man, it's quiet lately.

I know. Where's all the discussion about bread and wine, and the tales of other times we've had our fill of bread and wine?
I could go for some right now, beats working out bugs :-)

Well, I was waiting for a time when more people were around, but it seems like that's not gonna happen.
Time for a contest. It's a well-known fact that all the best taverns follow a specific naming convention. "The Brass Lantern," "The Prancing Pony," "The Drunken Clam," "The Mended Drum,"... they're all "The [Descriptor] [Noun]." Unfortunately, the tavern we're in isn't so blessed. I hereby challenge you to name it!
('cause Chacha was asking for a new description the other day.)

10:09 PM
The Overflowed Stack
The Reported Bug
The Requested Feature

@LanceRoberts I like
If I were creative I'd come up with my own, haha :-)

The Overflown Stack was my first thought too... GMTA, but too obvious.
Also out: The Faulty Server, The Super User.

The Exchanged Expert

LOL
"The Declared Function"?

@PopularDemand I like Overflown Stack better.

10:12 PM
@LanceRoberts Agree

The Answered Question

@LanceRoberts That's good
The Infinite Recursion?
The Uncaught Exception?

@Josh That definitely describes the conversations in this room.

@LanceRoberts Also a cause of a stack overflow ;-)
Anyone else want to weigh in? @Chacha102, @Hello71, @Shog9, @rchern?
(do multiple @s work in chat?)

10:20 PM
no idea

I was hoping to wake them up but to no avail
seems like the gaming chat is the most popular

By the power vested in me by, uh, the fact that I patronize this tavern too frequently, I hereby declare... that this contest will remain open until it gets more views.

here here

the gaming room may be more active, but it is dull, this place is far more interesting

@PiersMyers agreed. been in both all day and here's where I've been more active
@PiersMyers your gravatar will give me nightmares ;-)

10:29 PM
Gaming was good for a while but the last few times I popped in it was in the middle of a discussion that was hard to break into or talk about a specific game that I don't play.

@Josh I like it

Got a tavern name: The Procrastinating Tech.

@JavadocMD You get a gold star :-)
@PiersMyers I like it too, was (attempting to be) funny :-)

Alternately, The Bored Employee - it's more generous to those of us that work in other fields!

@LessPop_MoreFizz That works too. :)

10:34 PM
@LessPop_MoreFizz I used to work in a barn once, wasn't much fun

@PiersMyers Sounds like about as much fun as the time I worked at a racetrack.

@LessPop_MoreFizz did you get chased by the grey hounds?

@PiersMyers sounds like good exercise!

@PiersMyers No, but I did get to deal with being hounded by greybeards. (Horse track, not dog)
Specifically Belmont Park actually (of Belmont Stakes fame).

bugs in my code are pissing me off! >:o
Does this tavern serve beer? I could use one right now! :-)

10:47 PM
squash 'em @josh

like the spider question from above :)

haveta find em first... they're like crafty little spiders crawling around my "closets" :-)
@PiersMyers damn beat me to it :-)

thank God they aren't in your computer case :P
dang it @PiersMyers

This Tavern doesn't serve beer, but here's it's barman to cheer you up:

LOL thanks! :-)
I love the youtube feature of chat. That's just from pasting in a youtube url?

10:56 PM
@josh yep

yep

This entire system is really impressive. It would take me years to build something this complex :-)

later guys @Josh - hope you squash your bugs, a can of Unit Testing helps

@PiersMyers Thanks! later

11:17 PM
@Josh The Smashed Stack (overflow'd just doesn't work for me - stack overflows tend to be fatal)

@Shog9 Cool. That should actually be in reply to :136982 because @PopularDemand is the one doing the "contest" :-)

It's all good.

Ah ha, sleeping on the job I see, @PopularDemand!
;-)

Huh?
Right, dinnertime, and that means goodbye to chat.
So... goodbye, chat.

@PopularDemand Later!
